Wilson had a very strong pre season and also played well during the first part of the regular season. Then he had a very bad shooting slump followed by a mediocre period. However, he has returned to his best form in the last 11 games. I think the question for Knicks fans is whether the "net" of all that represents his current ability or whether that slump was a downside aberration caused by playing too many minutes too soon, being used at too many positions too fast and not really understanding his role in the new system or something else etc...
We already know that he is athletic, very versatile, plays on both ends of the court, and handles pressure very well. That probably makes him our best "all around" prospect. We also know that despite that horrible shooting slump, he's shooting BETTER this year than last anyway. His FG% is similar to last year, but he's taking way more 3 point shots this year. His FT% is also much better. So there is little doubt he is improving as a shooter. It's just a matter of how much and where his eventual top is. The good news is that he should be able to improve his FG%, eFG% and TS% further. It should be easy because he still takes a lot of poor shots because of his inexperience. If he also works on his shot and handle again in the off-season, hopefully he'll improve further. If his slump this year was simply a downside aberration, then we already have a good and improving player on our hands. There are no certainties in sports, but anyone that isn't high on Chandler's long term prospects of becoming a key part of the Knicks future isn't paying attention!! Houston's elbow is much more parallel with his body. Chandler has the form of a streaky shooter. Houston has the form of a very good shooter. If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

He is inconsistent with his ball placement and is also inconsistent with his body balance. Often times he is not straight up and down. He kicks his legs out, or will lean back on his shot. You can only fix this with repitition. Hope he keeps working. I just hope that people will like me

I think this is something that should really be looked at one of the reasons the hughes deal didn't need to be made. Wilcox was a nice addition, but taking minutes away from guys we are trying to build around isn't a great idea. Gallo isn't ready, but we aren't ready to make the playoffs and doing so is counter productive. We need assets in case we need to give those up to get max players.
Let him take his lumps he is willing to learn and improve and his ceiling truly is a fringe allstar talent when combined with nate and lee there are some serious blocks to attract players. |

Wilson is starting to look over his shoulder. If Gallo lost his job you can damn be sure Wilson is next. Management is creating some false playoff push in their minds because they think they are so close to making the playoffs. What they have forgotten is they are close to the playoffs because Chandler and Gallo have helped put them into that situation they are part of the solution to get you in the position.
Management is selling out. They have basically told the true fans to piss off we are making a play off push and that means the vets have priority it mean rebuilding is not a priority. Right now Chandler and Gallo are not a priority. They aren't part of the plan. D'Antoni get your head out of your azz. There is no way anyone can justify playing Hughes over Gallo and Chandler at this point in the season and at this point in the two players development. These players are part of the future plan of the Knicks for a player who isn't part of the plan Larry Hughes isn't part of the plan, he hasn't done anything this season to get priority over them it is a shame and a sham. Now that the Knicks have Lee, Nate, Chandler and Gallo this is the NYK core, you don't mess with that. |

Chandler has one outstanding game and he's the 2G for the future.
He has one bad game and it's the acquisition of Larry Hughes that caused it? Come'on now. Wilson Chandler is not a starting 2 Guard. He can play spot minutes there but his primary position is the 3 and he has looked very good backing up the 4 earlier in the year. I don't know where anyone is trying to go with this campaign for Chandler to be the Knicks starting 2 guard. Let alone now blame his horrid performance last night on "now he's looking over his shoulder worried about his job." What job? He started 2 games there lol. Is he insanely mentally fragile that knowing Hughes was going to get minutes had him nervously SUCK all night long? Really? Maybe, just maybe, the Raptors didn't want him crapping all over them like he did 2 nights ago when they didn't even seem to realize he was on the court? Decided to defend him yesterday? And did? http://popcornmachine.net/ A must-use tool for NBA stat junkies!
