Anybody feel that if this trade pans out and Wilcox is a stud here, (i.e as good as Lee but cheaper) he will make Lee expendable? Was this what Walsh had in mind, because come 2010 we cant play Lee Wilcox and hopefully Bosh in the starting lineup.

I like the trade because we basically gave up nothing for something better than nothing. That being said, let's not get overexcited about Wilcox. He's a decent player, but it's unlikely that he's here after his contract expires. It's simply a short term move with no drawbacks.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Dude, he is 26 years old and was drafted 8th overall in 2002..ahead of Amare Stoudemire and Caron Butler. We just traded a 34 year old Malik Rose for a 1st round draft pick and we should just let him go? The kid is athletic, and has great vertical leap and still has untapped potential. I guaran****ingtee you he's resigned next year at a reasonable salary.

i had thought that when the trade was made that Donnie was positioning himself for a possible Lee trade later... we'll see how things pan out this offseason... he's not gonna replace Lee's production tho.

Lee and Wilcox are worlds apart.

Interestingly, the Knicks hold Larry Bird rights on Wilcox. I don't know what that means entirely, but could they offer him a 1 year deal beyond this one, still hold his rights in year 2010 and then extend him for bigger money?

Wow. If we hold his Bird Rights then this trade keeps getting better and better. We can match any offers Wilcox gets this offseason.

Wow, come to think of it Rose has yielded us 3 first round picks in a sort of round about way

I wouldn't offer to re-sign Chris for more than one year. He's a decent player but nothing special.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Shouldn't you wait to see how he develops under this coach in this system? How much more evidence do you need to see that MDA can get a lot out of guys that have decent tools. A big that has great hands and athletic ability will usually thrive under MDA. The mid-range game is all he'd need to complete the picture.

i agree... a 1 year contract that expires after next season is ideal if he works out this season... u can't invest longterm dollars into any more role players & sacrifice any flexibility in 2010, & there's no way Donnie would ever do that to begin with.

I'm not wasting anymore cap space on spare parts. If we trade Curry, then we can talk about keeping him on a cheap deal.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Both Walsh and D'Antoni were trying to get Wilcox when they were still at their old jobs. They must see something.

Yeah it's the same thing they saw in Roberson.
