Wilcox is a good deal. Hughes Im more skeptical about--he's been bad for years and he hasnt played in awhile. If this takes away from Chandler or Nates time--it could backfire.

one thing about Hughes - the last time he was near a contract year he played his butt off. he's only 29. maybe he'll play his butt off for one last contract and a chance to save his career.

22pts 6rebs 5asts 3stls. he plays extremely well in up tempo games. he's not a shooter, but a slasher, something we kinda need more of. i think he'll be a good fit, provided his head is on straight - hey, it's a better situation for him than Chicago.

He's going to play limited minutes off the bench--how or where will he get 30 minutes from? He wont because better players are in front of him. Wilcox --people are going to be shocked how good he is--this was the NBA tradeline steal if he is healthy. Wilcox could be an instant impact player--Hughes can shore up the bench

Honestly when NO did the deal for Chandler I thought they got the better end with Smitha dn Wilcox by a mile.

Briggs Hughes is our instant starting 2 guard-his best position. Under what circumstances is he coming off the bench?

If we want to lose he will be. Chandler has earned the starting 2 slot. Hughes hasnt even played basketball in two months.

I said before that I saw Wilson as a big 2 (like Maggette or Q 6 years ago), but it is obvious Mike D sees him as a SF/PF.

I really think I can see Wilson as a 2 or a 3 a la a guy like Maggette or a young Q. I know he is a bit taller than them, but I really think I like him there. With Jamal just being a warm body out there I can see our best lineup being

Zach
Lee
Q/Chandler
Chandler/Q
Nate-P.S. I don't like Nate as a starter but he may be the best PG we have. I still think I would have rather had a guy like Jarrett Jack over Duhon, or I can can see us trading for a PG this season.

Personally I think that Wilson needs to perfect that outside shot and develop some 3 point range before he can even be considered a starting caliber 2.

Wilcox is a bust and he wasn't drafted as an athletic defender. Coming out of Maryland this guy was suppose to be huge. His offensive game never developed to a point where he was consistent. He shown flashes during his contract year but faded soon after.

Even though he's a bust, that doesn't mean the style he plays doesn't fit here. I think he can be pretty effective.

he's an upgrade over Turd, for whatever that's worth... he's not horrible but don't expect this guy to make much of a difference... think Nazr Mohammed.

Disagree bro. This guy is better than Nazr. This offense fits what he does on the court. If he's given 30mpg I'm seeing 17ppg/11rpg

17 & 11 is way optimistic IMO... i'm expecting something along the lines of 13 & 9, especially if D Lee is still here for the rest of the season.

Maybe I am being a bit to optimistic but this guy shoots a very high FG% and he gets his points in many of the same ways Lee does. And he has a better shot to boot.

Well, overall, outstanding trades by the Knicks. We've improved by adding two starter-caliber talents for essentially nothing. They'll help shore up our quality depth at guard and the big-man positions.

I'm curious if anyone here would mind if Wilcox took *ALL* of Jared Jeffries' minutes.

While I like having the slightly older version of Jamal Crawford (Hughes) on our team from a talent perspective, I'm worried if he's take away minutes from Robinson. I know that a number of folks on this forum aren't big fans of Nate - but I think when you hand him the ball with big minutes, he produces numbers like vintage Allen Iverson. I think that's unmistakable. Whether people like that style of game or not, that's debatable (it seems like the majority here obsess over the pass-first PG concept).

In any event, I wouldn't mind if Hughes took away all of Q-Rich and Roberson's minutes. :) We'll still want to keep 15mpg for the Gallo.

vintage Allen Iverson statlines look like 42 pts. / 15 assists / 5 steals & that's not just a freak occurence either... Nate might be able to put up a game or 2 like that during the course of the year but let's not get crazy here meng.

Totally agree. Vintage Allen Iverson is insane.

I think its the right time and right place for Wilcox- even if you shave off a little more than 20% from his per 36 min averages which I posted on the first page, you come up with a little over 12 pts and 7 rebounds. I think Wilcox will average at least that much with the Knicks.

Nate, Marbury, Iverson all can put up stats, but its the wins that count.

Yikes. That's an outlandish prediction. That's past sipping the kool aid... maybe chugging?

Seriously why don't we just wait and see. He's a decent player and this may be the right system for him, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I think most people would be happy with him putting up 12 and 7.

Besides, the worst thing that could happen would be if Wilcox has a monster second half. Then we can't get him on the cheap if we truly decide we want to keep him.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
