I'm trying to keep this in perspective, because I dont know him. He has been troubled in the past, and his temper does get the better of him, but over the past couple of years he has remained trouble free for the most part. He has recognized the error of his ways in public and I take him at his word.
I'm not going to pile on him because of a simple on court swing. I think thats too judgemental and eltist.
He still is a good player and we should have gotten more for him, but its a moot point now.
I hear what your saying. It may be unfair to him to judge him as a person because we don't know him. I do my best not to but sometimes it's tough to differentiate the personal from the basketball stuff. But let's leave it at basketball. It's possible we could have gotten more for him, but if we want to be fair to everyone, we also should be fair to Donnie. It's possible that because of these incidences the opinions of Zach around the league are not very high. It's possible that GM's would not give up much for Zach because they always know that there is the possibility for him to "go off" like he did against the Suns. I personally have nothing against the guy, but I was wary of him as a Knick and I personally would not offer a lot for him as a GM, simply because there are too many incidences. At some point you have to assume that maybe the guy can't stay out of trouble and base your trade decision on that. I think Donnie understood this possibility and wanted to get him off the team before something cropped up. Again, maybe he could have gotten more, maybe not, we don't know. But I still think he made the right decision to trade him before it was too late.
