The best way to change this franchise is to try and get a top 2 pick at this point. At this point lets just develop guys and trade off[if we can] guys like Duhon who might still have some decent value--this is not a good team---we gaev it a shot 10 games under after 53 games ===tank it

If only it were that easy. How do you suppose we get this top two pick?

You need luck--but the better draft position measn the more chance at luck you have.

You could trade Lee for a lottery pick or take back a hunk of 2009/2010 salary or both.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

ROFL! first it was "you play to win the game"... now you've come to the conclusion that it's in our best interest to tank the rest of the season even though i've been arguing w/u trying to convince u of that fact for the past few months... u really are something else.

i can't wait to hear u tell everyone in a few weeks that you'd been saying all along that tanking for a better draft pick shoulda been our goal from the very beginning instead of trying to compete w/this completely flawed roster.

TMS--The Knicks were playing well and were only 4 games under spot 14 in the draft--at that point what is the difference is drafting 14 or 15? We've lost 6 in a row since then and sit at 10 under with 30 to go. At this point--it's a different thought process. I'm not a proponent of trying to get an 8 seed winning 34 games. If we were 500 that is a whole different ball of wax.
You play to win in the nBA until it's smart to play to develop for the future.

my argument has been that u couldn't have expected anything better than an 8th seed w/this flawed roster from the very beginning & even that was a huge stretch... so if what u say is true & u aren't a proponent of 34 win 8 seed seasons, then why bother disagreeing w/me on this issue at all? did u expect this team to get to .500 & eek out a 7th or 6th seed? would that have really made much of a difference in terms of the future of this franchise? even my 35 win prediction maybe too optimistic at this point... i've wanted this team to tank all along cuz i knew we wouldn't be winning jack w/the roster as currently constructed even when we had Zach & Jamal... after those trades went down we shoulda resigned ourselves to tanking the rest of the way... the way to do that is by trading Lee & Nate now for future assets in this year's or next year's drafts & then pulling for a higher lottery pick... that gives u both flexibility cap wise for the future as well as the pieces to pull off a blockbuster type trade on draft night if an opportunity presents itself... or u can simply keep those picks & rebuild the roster w/rookie scale salaried players instead of locking up your cap into 2 guys who have not helped us win many games since they've been here... as much as i like Lee & Nate, there are some really nice prospects available in this year's draft that could easily replace Lee & Nate's production.

The problem with your thinking or your stratigic thought process. It gets coaches fired, and doesn't attract FAs. Elton Brand came to the sixers becuase they seemed to be headed in the right direction, Not cominging off a high lottery pick season. For all the Money the bulls have had and all the high picks they have gotten since Jordan it hasn't amounted to not one FRANCHISE PLAYER. "Figure that one out"

If Im a vet( 5 or more years) FA Im not going near a rebuilding franchise even if it's in the middle of Broadway where i can make a fortune. So my thought process is to have these guys get there numbers up, and get some playoff expeirience so we could have trading chips, not ping pong balls.

Kevin Garnett agreed to a trade to Boston, the worst team in the NBA, & won a championship... if u have the cap flexibility to bring 2 bigname stars to NY in 2010 & have a good base of young talent to make moves with in another blockbuster deal, don't tell me u can't make this an attractive place to come to for any bigname player in basketball.

Were not that bad of a team, and Mike d is a very good coach so eithey way you put it were never going to get a high pick. So making the playoffs should be more important then anything at this point. It boosts eveyones stock.

If Chicago does get Stoudemire--the 8th seed is all but done. In fact that team becomes somewhat scary to match up with at the 7th or 8th seed.

Then we better win the damn draft lottery or get at least the same spot we got last year. 35 wins not making the playoffs and getting the 14 or 15 pick is a bad season IMHO.

no kidding, but that's what we're headed for unless we do what i'm calling for & trade Lee & Nate for extra picks now while we have the chance... w/a higher lottery pick & 2 other 1st round picks, at least 1 of which has a good chance to also be a decently high lottery pick (Lee trade), we would have the ammo to pull of a pretty significant trade on draft night for either a young stud player we can build around, or maybe even the #1 pick in the draft should whoever wins the lottery decide they wanna trade down.

He's not the next Camby. He's much more of an offensive type player who in time will be able to help on the D with his frame. He's got a lot of work to do on his skills BUT he's got the same kind of springs David Lee has ---he's 4 inches taller and he's got a very nice frame. If we were picking 9-10-11-12 that would *likely* be my pick. There is a deep fall off from the top 4 or 5--I mean there are some nice skill players but nothing in the magnitude of this kid's potential for what he can do for this team. At the end of the day we need a guy in the middle even if he's going to need 2 years of grooming. He can play off the NBA bench now. He won't be an impact guy like Lopez right off the bat but he will be a very good NBA C down the line. He looks like he has some attitude and he's got his head in the game--he's leading the big ten in FG% as a rookie and clearly he can do what he wants when they throw a good entry pass to him. He knows how to seal off but he has very little in terms of post moves his shot needs work he's not a good defender right now--there are multiple flaws BUT you CANNOT teach what he has. Im not talking about just the big frame--Im talking about his springs with the big frame. He needs big man tutoring but when you can play at the rim like that--it's a solid investment in the pick. He's got good hands. When you look at a guy like this you have to do some projecting---you know if he is leading the big ten FG % in his freshmen year--what would this kid look like with hard training and skill advancement in 2 years? This kid could be a monster player and a top 3 or 1 pick in the future--so it's potentially a huge discount getting him in the 9-10--11 area. He's good around the basket so he'd be able to have an impact off the bench right away. You're not getting a guy who can't play--he's just no where near complete in his skill level. He's going to take some time but I think he's worthy/

Thanks Briggs, knew you'd come true ;).

Gonna catch some games on him, like you said he looks nice.
