His upper body strength is well below average for a guy his size. Given the success of the Knicks trainers with Gallinari, however, not working out just might be addition by subtraction for Lee.

how can you tell? And how has that effected his game?

do you know what Lee benches? I know a lot of guys in the gym that arent ripped but are quite strong and lift weights. Sometimes it just your body type. Zo was never able to push Ewing around. How is this? More to being strong than how your biceps look

He has absolutely no definition in his arms and his torso just looks like flab. If he does lift, I highly doubt he takes it seriously. Any joe shmoe would show some tone if they'd be lifting for even a couple of months. Let alone the years David's been in the NBA.

I'd say lifting would help his defense and rebounding game immensely. And it's not like he really has to worry about losing that midrange jumper.

If you weigh 240-250 standing 6-9 and your in good shape--you're probably pretty strong.

I know he has 8% body fat and he doesnt want to get bulky he has tried it twice and it has killed him both times. He needs to play at 245 instead of 265

King - if you know David so well, why do you feel the need to justify who he is, what he does, his play and "all things Lee" to a bunch of people you do not know. Everyone is a Knicks fan (or hater) around here. If I were you, I would not care one iota what people on a message board think about someone who I know and feel the need to defend this person, athlete or not, to anyone.

We all know that you have a personal relationship with David. It shouldn't matter what anyone thinks of him.

well weight kills your knees/mobility and you talking bout 20 lbs...thats a whole lot. He's found his personal ideal weight....Q still needs to lose like 20lbs though he does look alot better and he's been healthy all year.

yeah i agree here...alot of us say things here about the players. In reality they aren't real to us. They're just pawns for our personal amusement....

besides it's very unlikely we will meet up....like I can tell Fishmike or Marv to kiss my naked ass and to s*** c*** cuz I know I would never meet them in real life...like never in a million years.

8%? He looks more like 14. 8% you usually see a lot of definition and some veins.

Great topic, I was busy all day and wanted to post a similar topic. If I was Knick management before any agreement I would have an understanding that Lee needs to bulk up.

Since Jerome James and Eddy Curry have been the most criticized in recent history, do we love them the most?

It cracks me up you always gripe about Lee defense. We just got 61 and 50 dropped on us by guards and you want Lee to block shots and foul out in the first half. How about we gripe about our guards not being able to stay in front of anyone on this team. I dont Lee works on his body at all during the season I think drinking beer and eating burgers is what he does. He has lost 20 lbs since the season has started so I assume he is doing something to stay in shape

I seem to recall D Lee watches as a couple of those balls went over his head while he was guarding them as well. He also gave it up to Gasol as well.

Kobe and Lebron balls went over him on multiple occasions...

how can you tell? And how has that effected his game?

Does he look strong to you? Does he push around opposition players?

I know that he plays out of position at times, but I have seen him get moved around at PF before. There is a reason why players work out with weights more than they did in past years. The muscle does not necessarily make you a better player, but it can enhance your game if done correctly. Players would not be working out if they did not think it helped their game.

I'm sure you have played pick-up ball, and i am sure that you know how important strength can be when boxing out, rebounding, defending, scoring in traffic, etc..

Lee is just about my favorite player on the team, and one of the things that has made him special, in my opinion, is that we have been able to see his game evolve over time. Fans love when their drafted players turn out to be better players than expected, and we are even happier when we see their games grow each year they play.

Lee does not have to gain 20 extra lbs., but he could use some extra muscle. It will help his D and make him an even better rebounder. Knicks fans think he should have been in the All-Star game, maybe some work in the weight room will get him there.

i think if u took a poll D Lee would be the predominant favorite player of most Knick fans on this forum... that don't mean we can't analyze his game & critique him like we do every other player on this squad... u really need to stop taking everyone's comments about him so personally... it's just basketball talk... u don't see people calling him a bum or making up stupid names like "Crawful" when talking about his game, do you? i don't see why it should bother u to be honest... he's not perfect & there's always room for improvement... the comments about his weak rotations on defense are absolutely fair.
