I think it is possible to get a lot of value moving down in this next draft. Just look at the quality of the senior class all across the board. the second round is loaded. Can someone tell me guys like Terrance Williams Jerel Mcneal Wes Matthews Danny green to name a few don't have the same talent as some of these guys up in the teens on the mock drafts. I mean Terrance Williams is the most athletic two guard with the best body in the entire draft and he is pegged as a second rounder. Jerel Mcneal could be BE player of the year. You could take a 13 pick move down and grab a Patrick Patterson/Ty Hansborugh upfront with a Terrance Williams for example --that's more value and talent than just the pick at 13since we'll have up to 4 open roster spots. Seattle and Minnesota are loaded up with picks so I would think they might want an extra lottery or close to lottery for a couple of lower first rounders. This isnt a draft where we are going to walk away with a 7 footer and we wont get Hill or Griffin--so the real value might lay down below.

Teague is mentioned in 1st post and though I'm familiar w/ Holiday's rep, I have not yet seen UCLA play.

ah read it wrong

Holiday very solid and an excellent defender who'd be very good for Mike D but is slated to go at the top of the lottery.

Looking at draft express their mock though, I'd say Tyreke Evans or Willie Warren (sg) for the Knicks.

trade Nate for an extra pick & take Derozan... u can sign a backup PG w/the LLE, no need to waste a pick to get a backup... Derozan's got the potential to be a star SG & we are sorely lacking at that position as it is... he'd get some nice burn on this squad next year at that spot & we'd finally have some size & explosiveness to match up w/other teams at the 2 who doesn't have 2 balky knees & a bad back.

w/our own lottery pick u take Patrick Patterson because we need some shoring up in the frontcourt as well who can block some shots & score down low.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Derozan has looked awful if you ask me.

Wathched the UCLA game the other night and he was horrible....no perimeter game at all.

Demar Deorzan played very good the other night against UCLA. He's improved throughout the year for the most part. I don't think he was we need here now at this point from what I have seen.

Sorry Briggs but I respectfully disagree on Derozan playing well against UCLA.

He had 15 points and 8 rebounds -- on 6-11 shooting -- he didn't post higher than a 1 on any other statistical category.
He shows ZERO range - with all of his points coming at the rim and picked some garbage points late in the game (including his pretty dunk when his team was down about 25 points).

USC was down 23 at the half and lost by 16 -- please tell me how Derozan impacted that game at all because I didn't even notice him on the floor and had to keep reminding myself to keep an eye on him.

Would comparing Calethes to a better shooting Andre Miller be off base?

Miller has a much stronger build. Calathes needs to get stronger but he's unique that he is 6-5--how many 6-5 PG's are out there? He's able to make up for his lack of athletic ability speed and strength by seeing over his defenders. He's able to get to where he wants to go--kind of like Steve Nash in a way. His size allows him to be a good rebounder and he gets the break going quickly. He's just a really good basketball player. If he had great athletic ability he would be a top 3 pick--maybe 1. The speed and athletci ability put him down the draft line a bit. But no way second round--maybe 8-15 depending on the eye of the beholder.

Sounds remarkably like Marty Collins!

Mardy was /is probably 40 pounds heavier and more explosive. That being said Mardy Collins was a high 30% FG% at temple for most of his 4 years. I think that Mardy has shown he can be a pretty good player in the nBA--he did it with the Knicks and he has done it with the Clippers. I think the team wouldve been better sending Roberson than Collins--we just gave up on Collins. I think they would like to have that one over.
There is something special about Calathes--he's just a really good player. With the way the Knicks play basketball--I would think that he may be one of a few target choices.

AND

His last name Calathes literally means “baskets” in Greek.

We must get this man.

I know we probably will finish too high to get Teague, Jennings & maybe Curry. And I know that we need a shot-blocking C on the roster (and a 2 guard).

But there are many late 1st round PGs who would really make this team better both in this system & as a change of pace to Duhon (they all have + quickness).

1. Paddy Mills
2. Curtis Jerrells
3. Darren Collison
4. Ty Lawson
5. Eric Maynor
6. AJ Price

That's how I would rank them. Saw Jerrells twice & love him.

Opinions, rankings on these guys from the UK faithful?

purple, I was really surprised to see Jerrells on your list. I actually go to Baylor, so I get to see him a heck of a lot. First off, I love the guy. He shows nothing but class, brings leadership to the team, and is able to hit the clutch shots.

That said, I don't really consider him a first round talent. He isn't really a true point guard. For the bulk the the time, he plays off the ball with Tweety Carter handling. When Tweety comes out, he shifts over to point. He's an adequate distributor, but he doesn't hold onto the ball for long. He can hit the 3 and drive the lane, but he is really a combo guard in every sense of the word.

If he were to somehow manage to find his way to NY, I would root for him harder than anyone, but he is not the Knicks best option, especially with Nate on the bench.

Matt - great insight there & it sounds like you know better than me. Maybe I just saw a couple of games that had me impressed. Sick athlete though. Thanks again.
