They're barely over .500 now and hanging on to the 8th spot by a thread. This ain't their year. Do you really think they are happy with the production of their 76M payroll? How far do you think they can go in the playoffs 'as is' if they can in fact make the playoffs?

let's just put it this way... in order for your plan to appeal to them we'd have to throw in Lee, Nate & our 1st round pick unprotected this season along w/Harrington & our expirings as filler, & even still i don't see them making that trade to just dump salary & start over again w/o getting back at least 1 legitimate superstar out of the deal.

Marbury's expiring for Shaq would save them over 20M next year. Shaq would really foul up MDA's system, but he'd be larger than life in NY and give us a post up option on a 1+ year rental when everyone is shooting bricks from the perimeter. But you're right, who's going to take a chance on Marbury w/o getting something else. I would imagine they're going to shop Shaq. Who knows, by the deadline we might be their best option to move him. Two more weeks and counting.......

I'd love to see Nash off the ball at the 2 in NY. Oh well

Would anyone do this so we can keep Lee to put next to Amare....

Incoming Players
Leandro Barbosa
6-3 PG from Brazil (Foreign)
13.0 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.8 apg in 22.7 minutes
Amare Stoudemire
6-10 PF from Cypress Creek (HS)
21.0 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.0 apg in 36.9 minutes
Outgoing Players
Nate Robinson
5-9 PG from Washington
14.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.5 apg in 28.1 minutes
Wilson Chandler
6-8 SF from DePaul
13.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 32.4 minutes
Stephon Marbury
6-2 PG from Georgia Tech

They get immediate cap relief after the season and a 2 players that would be great to help in their rebuilding.

Perhaps signaling a willingness to dismantle their roster, the Phoenix Suns have begun exchanging trade proposals with teams for All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday. With dysfunction and dissension reigning within the Suns, rival front-office executives believe general manager Steve Kerr is determined to move Stoudemire and others before the Feb. 19 trade deadline. Yahoo! Sports

While Stoudemire, 26, is the Suns’ most valuable asset, sources say Kerr has told teams that he’s willing to trade anyone on his roster except for point guard Steve Nash. “Everyone is on the table but Nash,” one executive said. Yahoo! Sports

Sources believe the Suns are more apt to shop Stoudemire to the Eastern Conference, where Toronto and New York are natural possibilities. Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo drafted Stoudemire for the Suns, and Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni helped turn him into an All-Star. Still, the acrimonious nature of Colangelo’s and D’Antoni’s departures could lessen Phoenix management’s willingness to deal with them. Yahoo! Sports

Phoenix owner Robert Sarver has been more reluctant to part with Stoudemire and still hasn’t yet given his blessing to act on a Stoudemire proposal. Nevertheless, most believe that Sarver will inevitably do so. While there will likely be some interest in a rejuvenated Shaquille O’Neal, it is Stoudemire, the enigmatic 6-foot-10, 250-pound forward, whom most NBA teams have an interest in acquiring. Yahoo! Sports

I see Kerr making another deal -- possibly moving Stoudemire or Nash -- before he fires Porter. The Suns have a lot of good pieces, but they don't fit. It's not always talent. Sometimes, you have to find something to build around. I don't know what the Suns are trying to be right now. Neither do the Suns. Washington Post

And where would they go from there? They have Nash, Hill, Shaq, smith, Richardson.

That lineup is not going to work and neither is the one they have now.

Would you give up our 09' first round pick, an expiring and a talented young forward for Stoudemire/Shaq/Barbosa?

Shaq/Barbosa/Stoudemire for Marbury/Chandler/JJ2/Rose + our 1st round pick

Phoenix clears 8.6M <4.3M> off the books this year, 28.5M next year and they get a sophmore rookie allstar and our 1st round pick.

I think this accomplishes their needs in draft picks, expiring contacts and a talented young forward. This fills our needs, but we still need to move Curry next year.

I can see Marbury, Lee and our no. 1 (Althought I don't think we can move it) for Amare.

Lee will do the things Amare won't and help Shaq on the weak side. Lee can really help that team.

Amare can get his groove back under MDA.

Mabury's expiring opens up them to sign Lee and still have 5mil left over.

2010 we can get whats his name, and 2011 either paul or HOward.

Lee/Marbury or Chandler/Marbury + 09 1st rd pick would work $$ wise for Stoudemire/Barbosa.

The trade I could see is:

Lee, Nate, & Marbury (expiring)
for
Amare & Barbosa

Keeps our plan for 2010 bc Amare can opt out (then resign him with Bird rights if we wish). Barbosa is making $ that Nate would command anyway. Lee is gonna cost about 10 million a year and as much Im a David Lee fan he may not be worth that much.

I don't think the Suns would bite on that, unless they're trying to save a lot of money. Which very well could be possible, considering how cheap Sarver is *and* the economy being as bad as it is.

I'd do Lee + Chandler + Marbury for Stoudemire + Barbosa

Actually, I like this idea more... hopefully the Suns would too

Here's a three way between Toronto, Phoenix and the Knicks that's pretty interesting

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4974488

Knicks get - Barbosa, J. O'Neal and Dragic

Raptors get - N8 and Stoudemire

Suns get - Marbury, Lee and Parker

LOL, so Lee and Nate for Barbosa? not very interesting.

Come on, atleast O'neal's a legit center. He can score, block shots, rebound and can clog the lane on D. You also get an inexpensive back up PG and a decent SG. It fills some needs w/o busting the 2010 plan. It's going to be difficult to deal JJ2 and Curry, so do you still re-sign Lee and N8? As much as I'd like to keep Lee, you can get rebounding and pick and roll from a legit center and a good PF. If your center and PF can also shoot the midrange jumper and play Defense, I think you come out ahead.

I don't think the Knicks would do a three team deal where Amare or Bosh was involved where they wouldn't end up with Amare or Bosh.

This post defines stupidity. The Suns would be getting what exactly?

They could make a trade with the blazers and get great young talent for Nash alone. They could pretty much trade Stoudamire for a young allstar, and then turn around and turn shaq into something as well without taking the knicks garbage.

It's turned into a buyers market now hasn't it. At this point, nothing would shock me. It's not about talent right now, it's about the moneeeey
