I injected his race because of what Limbaugh has personally said about Black people. I know most conservatives have never seen racism that they didnt want to deny, but come on, now. I just posted some of Limbaughs more famous comments in this very thread.

On top of that, Steele is the supposed head of the RNC, right? He makes a perfectly reasonable statement about Limbaugh --- that he's merely an entertainer and his show can be ugly and incendiary. Limbaugh responds by coming right out and punking Steele. Just insulted him.

Instead of Steele sticking to his guns, he apologizes to Limbaugh?? A grenade-throwing, shock jock who has already proven to hold Black people in total disdain? This is one of the more disgusting moments I have ever witnessed.

This goes to my original point, that Republicans bow an kneel to this idiot --- the true leader of the republican party. LOL, Republicans = Whig party...You guys better get it together and quick. America is not impressed.

There is nothing professional about what Steele did. At BEST, it was shameful and cowardly.

That is the point I was trying to say. I guess some people expect him to act like a child and engage in an argument through the media.

He was kowtowing, Rush made him kiss the ring. Rush is a serious political force in this country, and he proves it everytime one of these elected officials step out of line with him. Steele isn't the first to fall over themselves trying to pretend like they didn't say what we heard them say regarding Rush. They apologize because they know he represents a huge part of their political base, and he has the power to turn them against him. He is a powerful man, someone to be taken very seriously. All of you guys trying to brush him off as 'just an entertainer' are either in denial and wishfully thinking out loud.

Limbough is a serious political force in this country in the same vein as Oprah. They both have large followings, some of whom view their views as gospel. But in the end of the day they are just entertainers. It seems that the only people who try to treat Limbough as a political leader are the usual people who try to discredit any Republican or Conservative person. If you guys tell me that Limbough is my political leader than I tell you that Oprah is yours.

Couldn't agree more particularly with the highlighted portion. Rush is a political force in this country for the Republican base and to dismiss him as just some mouthpiece is a mistake. Like I said being Rush gets paid millions of dollars to sit behind a mircophone and expound various political topics.

This is the first time in a Presidential election that Oprah ever openly supported a candidate furthermore she almost never discusses her views on political issues so likening these two to one another is really off-base. She's not even a Political Commentator most of her shows are about books, woman issues, celebrity interviews, so comparing her to Rush Limbaugh is laughable.

The whole point of you guys trying to argue that Limbough the leader of the Republican party is to discredit an entire group of Americans. Some people are so full of themsemves. Im sure that it makes you guys feel very intellectually superior to the poor mopes out west and down south, who clutch their bibles while they listen to their tape recorded Rush Limbough eight tracks.

Rush Limbough is the leader of the Republican party. You guys are seriously trying to pass that as fact. What a joke

I dont get what point you're trying to make Izybx? Does Limbaugh not have political cache in this country? You compare him to Oprah?

Picture Oprah having a daily talk show where she has made a history of making political and socially off the wall, inflammatory statements seemingly a daily habit.

Picture democrats taking her political opinions seriously, and constantly referencing her and seeking her council, in public.

Picture Oprah saying that she want the country to fail, just because she doesnt agree with the current administration's ideology.

Picture Democrats failing to dismiss her, and republican's failing to challenge her.

Picture Oprah speaking at an event like the CPAK or whatever that was, carried on virtually every cable news channel around, where she maps out the supposed political blueprint that liberals should follow, to the the cheers and delights of a rabid and delusional throng of people.

Picture Obama saying that Oprah is not the leader of the democratic party as she is merely a talk show host.

Picture Oprah slapping Obama down, claiming that liberals should hang up in his face if he tries to fundraise and he is overall worthless.

Picture Obama, apologizing to Oprah!!!

LOL. Lets get real. Limbaugh has hijacked your party and ideology. dont blame us. Its up to people like you that supposedly care about the future of the party, to do something about it. Im perfectly content watching you guys self-combust.

Lets not confuse higher road, with being humiliated by a drug addict, racist loser when you are the head of a national political party where its your job to show leadership and dignity.

You can't even answer the question but you continue to dismiss Limbaugh as an "entertainer" come on now who needs to get off their pedestal. You have no leader but the one guy that impact candidates and their policy in the Conservative media is Rush but that's right he's just an "entertainer" that no real Republican listens to.

Youre right I cant answer the question just like you cant answer mine. Before Obama who was the leader of the Democrats?
I mean whats your point? I simply joined the conversation because it was being said the Limbough was the leader of the Republican party, which is ridiculous. To say that demeans the views of half of this country. And I guess I do need to get off my pedestal. How dare I say that Limbough is an entertainer! What an elitist am I!

The Republican Party is in disarray right now. But I can completely see why you would think why someone like Rush Limbaugh wouldn't be a strong voice of the party.

this a long ways from the days of William Buckley whose own son has now switched parties because of the complete idiocy that is rampant throughout the Republican Party.

Ill take that you being unable to answer the question of who was the Democratic leader before Obama is an acknowledgement of how difficult it is to have a leader when your party doesnt have a sitting president. Ill tell you what though, the Republican needs to have a leader who will provide a voice to the Republican party.

The Republican party is shameful. So is the Democratic. In the end of the day, there is noone who is standing up for the American people. I have very little confidence in our government right now.

Izybx...you're STILL not getting it.

Is Rush Limbaugh the leader of your party? No. But the growing perception is that he is. Key word is perception. When people see his mug on t.v all the time, and the actual leader of the RNC bowing to his bluster and the party as a whole failing to denounce him and actually celebrating him--- what conclusion are people going to draw?

Thats why Obama did what he did. I knew where he was going with this from the jump. Obama is trying to expose the backwards, extremist wing of the party that has become the dominant voice in the Bush administration. He knew Limbaugh would take the bait, and now your party is going to go one of two ways. They are either going to break free of the Limbaugh infected nonsense that has turned the Republican waters toxic, or they are going to defend Limbaugh and embrace his views which will make Republicans look irrelevant and extreme in a changing centrist/now left-leaning America.

Its really that simple. Ball is in your guys court. Your poll numbers are dropping to dangerously low levels.

I changed your post to what you really mean. You really think that in this day and age Obama is still worried about the Republican party? The economy is in shambles, theres a war on our southern border and our most important ally in the middle east is on the verge of civil war and you think hes concerned about Rush Limbough and making Republicans look bad?

If I were him I would be worried about the stimulus bill actually doing something and the economy not falling flat on its face or he will go down as one of the biggest failures to ever sit in office.

Rush is the de facto leader of the republican party. I get that that makes you wince, and I understand how you'd not want to be associated with him, but the truth is the truth. He has sway with more voters than any other republican. I don't see how you or anyone can deny that.

Obama winning empowered Limpbaugh following that will point to any and all failures of this administration. The Limp ditto heads feel the media made Bush ineffective and feel they should have the same rights.

The Limp ditto heads did not win, are not in power and are not used to being in minority.

Its more important that Obama establish his power and make progress. Restore confidence is paramount.

In absence of a figurehead for the party Rush is now its mascot.

That itself speaks volumne for the Rebuplican party at the moment.
rush limbo at it again!
