I hate to recycle this one:

I've noticed that Gallinari does have an odd shape to him- nothing wrong with that- and it does remind me some of Kirilenko, and a bit also of Tayshaun Prince.

He has poor weird posture when walking around but he looks strong when moving around on the court.

you know I was trying to find this guys to make a comparison for a while now...Dejan Bodiroga...

I don't know about this kid to be honest. Watched him pretty closely last night and although he does have a nice feel for the game, and winning qualities, I think they are going to regret this selection. He is very slow footed out there and I don't know if I see him taking over a game or being assertive enough. Granted he needs to add some muscle and gain experience, because at 20 this has to be over whelming for him. But watching us get destroyed inside night after night I just don't know if Lopez wouldn't have been the right move, especially with Chandler playing the same position, or even Gordon, the knicks really lack that outside killer and they are not easy to find.

The reason he looks weird in still images is probably because he's trying to stretch out his back during breaks in the action.

I would treat anything Gallo does this season as gravy.

With a full offseason and some muscle buildup, I'd look to next season as being more indicative of his long term abilities. Dirk did nothing more than what Danilo's doing his rookie year.

He might have VD.

you're thinking of bargnani.

andrea says: VD? what is this VD? ah, wait, yes-ah, i have-ah the VD...that's-ah vagine daily, no? the whores...they don't-ah stop. also, please-ah leave danillo alone. he's-ah nice-ah boy. one eye-ah go this way, one eye-ah go that way but he's-ah good kid. i call him and say "danillo, come-ah to my house, i have-ah the whores". he say "no andrea, i go with my friend marco to the...how do you say...bathhouse?". he's a little funny that danillo, but he's-ah good boy.

Any of you guys see Phil Jackson when he was on the Knicks? Amazing that he could be such a good player with the body he had.

Sorry, but this is one of the dumbest and most ignorance based threads I have seen on this site. Why do I keep thinking about German "doctor's" descriptions of Jews during Nazi Germany and Southern portrayals of African American inferiority during the slavery period?

Gallinari is about 6 months removed from being 19. Everyone does not mature at the same speed. He is not Wilson Chandler. You can see that he is still a kid in many ways. I am a HS coach and I have seen some amazing physical transformations in the kids I coach over a 4 year span as they have matured and trained. Gallinari still has some of the looseness of a young kid People might also remember that doctors are predicting a height of 6'11" for the guy- which means that he is still not done growing.

I agree with EnySpree in that I think the Knicks put him on a strength training program that was not designed for what his body was (is) able to tolerate at this time. I will also bet that Gallinari willingly trained hard because he wanted to show that the "soft Euro" concept did not apply to him. After doing research and talking to a former athlete of mine who has a bulging disc issue, I am pretty certain that his injury was most likely related to the lifting the Knicks had him doing before the summer league.

Why not wait a few years to see how he fills out and matures before making a big deal about how he looks.

And Briggs, any comments about Andrew Bynum's propensity for knee injuries. I know you liked the guy. Perhaps you can do an analysis of his body and posture and how this relates to his "weak" knees? Just wondering.

Phil was horrible...His specialty was defending the inbound pass because of his long arms...Thus the name Phil "Action" Jackson...When I think of Phil's game, Jeffries comes to mind...

I couldn't agree with you more. You can see that his body is twisted and crooked. His hips are way out of whack, which then causes his back, neck, and shoulders to be out of line. A good chiropractor is needed but most adjust the hips wrong and make it worse. I know a good chiropractor who deals with this very successfully. I will try to ask him. Unfortunately, he is in the mid-west.

I would love to see a picture of Danilo standing when he played in Italy and compare it to the Knicks photo. If he stood straight in Italy, then it WAS the Knicks training routine that threw his back out.

I think that people are overanalyzing his appearance.

He does need to get stronger, however, his quickness/speed seems ok to me, and will get better as he matures. He seemed faster yesterday in terms of transition to the fast break, and he will be faster as the season progresses.

He is also becoming one of the better help defenders on the Knicks.

I will say, however, that of all the people in the draft, including those drafted before we picked, B. Lopez might have been best addition to this team other than Derrick Rose, or perhaps Westbrook, in my opinion. I don't know what MDA wants in a center, but Lopez has a much more complete game than I thought he had, and would have made this team better with his presence in the middle.

By the end of their careers, assuming that injuries don't have an influence, I think Gallinari will be better than Gordon or Bayless because he has a more complete game. Physically, they are a year or two ahead of Gallinari, but when he catches up (assuming the back is not an issue)I think he will be a more valuable player than either of those guys.

The Rooster does, however, have a stance similar to this guy:

i don't think lopez was ever on the radar b/c i don't think d'antoni wanted a somewhat lumbering big man on the court. i think their #1 target was oj mayo and #2 was danillo. walsh was gushing over danillo in the town hall they had with season ticket holders earlier in the summer - basically comparing him to larry bird.

Anyone couldv'e been hurt when someone smashes directly into your kneecap at high speed at a bad angle. The unfortunate part was for the second year in a row at a very young age he was blossoming into the best pure C in the NBA and got hurt by his own teammates on strange plays. He had some knee problems his junior year in HS but nothing along the lines of what Stoudemire or Oden had. What does Bynum's knee have to do with Gallinaris' strange shape? Gallinari is light years away from Bynum in terms of NBA talent and they are the same age.

I agree with you Briggs this is not a question of toughness or anything like that. He got hurt and players get hurt in the game. This could have happened to anyone.

PHil Jax lead the NCAA is scoring his senior year. The man was odd, but he was not looked upon to lead the team.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar was skinny and lanky for years.

Kevin McHale was odd. Reggie Miller was odd.

And Pete Maravich was very odd during his college years. Look at video. He was fundamental sound, not athtletic like modern athletes.

I thought Earl the Pearl was kind of bizzare in stature. Sloping small shoulders.

Gallo looks very young.

Maybe he just needs a few tatoo's.

If Nate Robinson's neck was as long as Gallo's neck Nate would be 6 feet 2 inches tall.

You guys bleep out that word?! That's hilarious. It's the formal way to refer to a body organ.
