There must be a helluva lot of sports announcers that we can have a top 50 worst and still have anyone left over.

yeah this article pretty much names every sports anouncer I've ever heard and calls them the worst. Marv Albert was
one of my favorites, and I think Mike Breen is horrible.

I also happen to be one of the few people who absolutely loves Bill Walton, you just have to appreciate the fact that
he says everything for dramatic effect and not take him seriously.

Mike Breen: because referees are the real stars. lol

Clyde is great. Of course MArv is the man.
Doug Collins and Kelly Tripucka drive me nuts going on and on after every play like they're trying to get a coaching job, and cutting into the next play with their whiny voices.
I don't mind Johnny Hoops. Old school!
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Mike Crispino is the worst play by play guy in history. Ill listen to alot of Knicks games on the radio while at work, and he has the worst herky-jerky style EVER. You have no idea hat is going on, he gets all excited for weird things, so you think that A player has done something good and it turns out that the guy called timeout. You are completely unable to picture what is going on. I have no idea why hes not on this list

Thats a good call. I agree. I also have to listen on the radio from time to time because of my sked and when he does the games its impossible to have any clue whats going on. Also it seems as if sometimes he is way behind the action because you can often hear the crowd reaction before he has explained what just happened

why is being a homer bad? Especially when your working for a team rather than a network I think being a homer is perfectly acceptable. Guys like John Sterling and Gus Johnson, Marv Albert back in the day, etc are all good. I like the fact that when I tune into a station that only does Knick and Yankee games that the announcers are biased.

Why is Gus Johnson called a homer if he gets excited simply by calling what he sees? he calls everything...college football, basketball, baseball, boxing....he even called MMA before....he's the best out imho.

Yup, Gus is as versetale as they get. He calls every sport and has even done the Olympics, when they had them on CBS a while back ago.

And if you listen to him on the radio, calling Knicks games, he's really really good. You can literally picture what's going on.

Gus is nowhere near Marv's level. Marv knew when to keep it real and when to get excited. He is the best NBA commentator of all time IMO and we need him back by 2010. Gus Johnson cannot grasp the concept of what an immense homer is and not to jizz your pants over every other routine play. John Sterling is what he is. Everyone other than Yankee fans will hate him but as a Yankee fan I enjoy his calls. Yes he is a homer but I think he gets excited at the right moments and doesn't act like the Knicks won the title after winning a game in a 23 win season.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
