I wonder what Isles and Blue think about this decision?

In what regard?

Wasn't there a discussion on whether his medical situation was known beforehand and that there could have been a motive to do the trade to get relief from the league. Or if there was negligence on our side?

I'm just asking because I recall you two had a lengthy discussion on what our GM could have been thinking before the trade was made and after.

I don't remember, but I thought it was a good trade on every level.

It rid of us Zach. I thought with Cat we'd stay equally competitive, and if we didn't I was cool with us bettering out lottery position. An exception would have been a nice bonus, but my feelings for the trade don't hinge on it.

I can agree with giving up Zach for those two as a paper trade... irregardless of contributions. IMO the trade only needed to serve one purpose and that's Cap Flexibility. I also feel this trade could have been done in the summer, which if we go through the same rigmarole we'd of had more time to replace Cat's absence during FA. But to revisit....

Was the trade signed off on under bad motives or why wasn't Mardy retained back?

I don't think he did a good job on the negotiation side but did accomplish the ultimate goal in moving Zach.

He was injured before the trade and the Knicks made the trade agreeing to take both the player and the injury. I don't expect the league to violate its rules help the Knicks out here.

It really is that simple too.

I don't think its fair to expect perfection. You only get a few days to finalize a deal and those days were waiting on conclusive tests. Meanwhile neither team could activate the other players in the trade. One team or the other was going to have to give up something to make the trade work and Walsh chose to be the magnanimous one. I can live with that. I'm not missing Mardy.

Save the DPE for Eddy Curry. Stern knows what he's doing.

Yeah, no doubt. We suck so bad and we were awesome with the great Zach Randolph. I think I may down some sleeping pills because we lost so much.

How did we "know" about his condition. It was revealed to us after the trade was made and it was too complicated to put a halt to it, because the Clips weren't trying to accommodate us.

I guess we're still being punished for the NY haters getting mad that we legitimately won the lottery in 85 and that blown call in the playoffs. This is completely bogus man.

I see so the fact that Zach Randolph > Tim Thomas and the fact that we didnt get any picks out of the deal doesn't matter to you at all huh? We just got grifted buddy. Anyone who knows basketball can see that. If you hated Zach Randolph so much thats up to you, but the fact remains; even if you trade him we could have gotten a lot more value in return.

We got grifted? What reality are you living?

Aren't you the same guy who said D'Antoni was a terrible hire?

We weren't trading talent for talent, we were trading talent for salary relief.

But admittedly, if you would have been satisfied having Zach as the best player on your team for the foreseeable future that shouldn't concern you. From that standpoint we should have kept taking on salary to build around Zach so we could contend for...

What, exactly?

People still can't see that with that deal, as good or as bad as it seemed, distanced ourselves from eternal mediocrity, aka The Clippers Title. We've been the Clippers of the East for a while and that spells doom. We just traded Zach to LA and see what happens. Have the Clippers gone any better? No, because while Zach knows how to put numbers up, his contract and his "offensive black hole" status simply make it impossible for any team to build around him or get a star so he can be the complementary player.

The Clippers are going nowhere with him and the Knicks now have a better chance at becoming contenders than them.

Don't you think if more was being offered we'd have taken it? We could have probably gotten a pick (if we took on added salary) OR cap relief, but not both.

Isn't Zach Randolph injured the past 15 games? Haven't the Clippers sucked anyway with him? I'm not seeing how we could have waited to get something better for a PF version of Ricky Davis. You wait and you risk something going, aka Zach Randolph getting injured.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

This is total nonsense...I seriously think they have something against NY....watch the next time something like this happens and they give the disabled exemption right away.

Totally agreed! Make sure you make a big stink about it, when it does happen. NBA seems biased against the Knicks for some reason.
I'll never trust this' team again.

This is pretty amazing. Crzydups you said it best: "the knicks basically saved mobley's life and they get penalized for it".

This is like following the law to a "T" but first cutting out your heart to make it that way.

Hopefully we can still trade his contract as Walsh is looking into.

This is just hard to believe. His condition got worse and he needed further tests so Walsh went through with the trade. There should be some severance to the basketball team, not just the $$ saved to the corporation (insurance will pick it up).

At least his contract ends on time. Donnie's been making sure of that with certain players.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Let's not forget too, that Donnie made this move to open up our cap. That's more important then anything else right now.

You got the timing wrong. We finalized the deal after we knew about the condition. As to the bold part, it is not Stern's job to compensate us just because the Clippers wouldn't.
