Yeah they just said that on SNY.

You know what I've learned today and through all this? There is a ton of misinformation that only benefits whatever side is citing it. Everyone's divided on what's gone on and whether it's been mishandled and how to handle it from here on out.

It's really rounding up to just be one big joke.

At least there is finally one fact: It does not affect the way our team is playing.

It's also gotten so late in the season any potential team morality value in parting ways immediately has pretty much evaporated.

So in that...:

I say the best two scenarios are: Once the deadline passes agree to a buyout (even if you're doing this to prevent him from going to a new team as long as possible, at least this way, you don't look unprofessional as you would terminating him March 2nd and laughing at his playoff ineligibility) - OR - Just send him home, final word, that he will be allowed to expire and can then move on when legally allowed contract wise. Put it to bed.

cosmic I like the wait until march 2nd thing this way he wont play until next year!! With that in mind no team has seen him play for 2 full years so what kinda money is he gonna get?? I screw him ROYAL, esp after all the trash hes talked this year. We need to kill this so there are no precidents(sp?) set for the future of the organization.

I wonder why Roberson hasn't asked for a buyout...he's rotting his career away on the bench. If they wasn't going to play him they should have dealt him before the season started.

What career?

Well, see my point with that is, cooch, is that if we do it March 2nd, we come off looking bad. Laughing at his ineligibility for the playoffs.

We can still accomplish keeping him out of the playoffs by just keeping him on the roster until the summer and it would come off as less unprofessional. Those who support him would still complain we kept him hostage but we weren't nasty about it. Waiving him the 2nd, like how the Bulls treated Starks, is just a very unprofessional way to handle things.

At this point, with everything I've said on the Marbury topic over the months, it now comes down to just doing it in a professional manner.

Want to prevent him from getting comfortable with a new team but still wanting to dump him? Then do it just before March 1st. Pretend you tried to trade him but the deadline came and you couldn't and then you let him go.

Want to prevent him from playing in the playoffs? Then keep him until the summer and let him expire.

Then you come off looking as professional as possible.

Now, as said early in the thread, Little Jimmy could easily be a jackass and demand to embarass Steph and waive him March 2nd. Eh, I hope not, for our ever repairing franchise image sake.

He isn't going to shut up but he doesn't realize that he has no power or leverage in regards to his situation. The only time Marbury and his siutation come up is when he goes to Berman about it. The Knick organization is not bringing it up and not negotiating with him.

I just read a report (rumor) over at hypes, that the Celtics are denying wanting Marbury and instead are asking Reggie Miller if he'd like to come back and play! Ha!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Steph is as stupid as he is crazy... he says he doesn't wanna be a distraction but he somehow seems to believe that the more he can draw negative attention to himself the more likely the Knicks will agree to his terms on a buyout... meanwhile he doesn't realize that he already had his balls cut off before the season even began... he's a neutered dog humpin' air & gettin' nowhere at this point.

If Walsh is really willing to let him go for a $2 million discount, Marbury is the biggest idiot in the world for passing that up. I mean really. What are you going to buy with 19 million that you cannot buy with 18 million, especially when you made about $75 million over your NBA career. Take the buyout and go chase a championship. You will make it up next year. A $2 million discount is letting Marbury off the hook lightly. I would have demanded $3 million at least.

TO marbury, the pride is more important than playing.

I think we should resign him for another year and let him sit even more.

Since he has been a knick, this is the best half season the team has played. He is an asset.

Not a distraction, but an attraction. He also takes some of the pressure off our young guys. If it were not for Marbury, Eddy would be getting far more press.

I love when he says the knicks actions are childs play. His level of professionalism to his team has been nothing short of juvinile at best.

Apparently he's going to be on Sportscenter today at 1:15 ET for an exclusive interview.

Beautiful.

Remember when he said he didn't want to be a distraction? Neither do I.

How about banning anyone who starts a Shnargbury thread? Or an Isaiuh thread? Or a JJ thread?

Where are you getting this 'look unprofessional' stuff from... at this point it is a smart move to keep the guy off the playoff roster, even if that is our sole purpose. If we manage to end up with the 8th seed, we get the Celtics in the 1st round. Nobody is denying that Marbs has talent... I don't want to face him in the playoffs (even though history suggests he'd be one and out). This is a business and the smart move for the team is to keep him off another team's playoff roster. We don't owe Marbury any favors-- like a chance at a title... the only thing we owe him is money. When we pay him is up to us... I don't think any rational player will fault us for terminating him after the playoff rosters are set... its the best strategic move.
You know I gonna spin wit it
