Take Marbury, Jermaine, and Francis off that list, as they are not superstars. Put Webber and Carter on it (even though I think they're both soft). The first three guys belong on the second-tier list, headed by Ben Wallace and former superstars like Malone and Payton. Francis is a lot like Marbury, a really talented athlete who can't get over himself to play the sport the way it needs to be played to win. Those guys need to remember that Magic Johnson didn't become a superstar by playing one-on-one ball. Lebron is on his way to making them look bad, by being a first-rate ball distributor.
Anyway, KVH is a solid player, and has been ever since he came into the league. The knock on him is how he disappears in the postseason, which will continue to be a knock until he proves otherwise (in the playoffs). These media idiots make it sound like the guy doesn't produce in regular games, which is revisionist and ludicrous. He is not, however, a superstar. The Knicks haven't had a superstar since Ewing. Spree may have been a media darling, and a really determined player, but he has always been, even in his prime with the Warriors, a second- or third-tier star.
If you can't get a superstar, at least fortify all your positions with top-notch guys. The Knicks, under the ownership of Dikhed Dolan, have fortified their roster with bench-players, and then overpaid them. Allan, KVH, McD are all starter-class players, but the rest of the team is bench-meat, even Kurt.
