1. They don't play D so I don't get what the story is. It's good to know LeBron has eyes.

2. It didn't even register with me when I read it in the actual interview. Dude was playing a pickup game. It's not like he sat down with a reporter talking like Yoda on crack. I really don't believe that it was a continuous thought like he just walked up on 5 people and said, "They don't play no D. They don't play no D. New York Knicks."

In between stomping them, he was probably joking around with some NYers who happened to work for GQ and were giving up a foot and 100 pounds compared to him that they were just like the Knicks. He was probably shouting/talking trash like damn near anyone else does during a run. Isola obviously wouldn't know since he doesn't play.

How thirsty are the media going to get with this?

I think that is a great point you raise and I will love you forever. I seriously hope this doesn't turn into some whirlwind thing where LeBron gets turned off by the NY media and it negatively impacts his decision to choose the Knicks in 2010.

I think you're the best thing to ever happen to me and right about the context of the "quote" too. He was probably talking trash and just messing with these guys. To D'Antoni's credit, I do think the Knicks are actually playing some pretty good TEAM defense.. not great but "ok." Nysportsfan11, will you marry me? You put some skilled 2way players on this team (like a LeBron) and I can see it being an extremely good offensive team AS WELL AS a great defensive team. Great individual defensive players breed good team defense. You had me at hello.

Oh that's right. I can uncode too and I just uncoded your asssssss.

You left out a couple of things but I fixed it.

So?

This only lets me know how bad his english is. We, the fans that really follow the team, should know better than him if they do or don't play defense. The answer is that we are an inconsistent team and that also translates to our defense. Sometimes we've played it as good as anyone out there, even with the mediocre personnel, and others we simply suck.

Whatever. I don't care what he says until its 2010.

how dare Lebron have the nerve to say we play no D... u don't get to be 7 games under .500 by not playing D my friends.

Here's Kobe playing D on Lebron. Kobe harasses him all the way down the court, corners him and then takes the ball like he was taking candy from a baby.

Some more Kobe vs Lebron

Kobe owns the King, no doubt about it. Kobe is still the best player in the NBA. He has a complete game and is clutch. Given the choice, I'd rather have Kobe on the Knicks. Peace out

this is what i've been saying for a while now... Kobe is still the best player in the game... Lebron is great, but Kobe is probably the best scorer in the game as well as the best defender in the game at his position... & not only that he's the best bigshot maker in the game barnone... until Lebron can unseat him by lifting his team to a championship by making the big shots to make him a legend, u simply can't say he's the best player in the game right now.

given a choice i'd take Lebron on my team because of his age & his unbelievably freakish athleticism & skills, but Kobe is still the best player overall.

Supposedly he repeated this twice in a GQ magazine interview.
James takes a subtle shot at the Knicks during a pickup game against five GQ staff members. "They don't play no defense," James is quoted as saying. "They don't play no defense. New York Knicks."

Just curious... why Bron is talking about the Knicks?
Looks like we did something recently to race the interest. Are we?
Why he is no talking about Lakers or Boston? They do not need LeBron.

Who cares what LeBron says now? MDA should put it on the blackboard and see how the team responds.

Do it when they play Cleveland.
I'll never trust this' team again.

This video is very telling. Lebron needs to shut his mouth. He's been talking a lot of **** lately. I don't go for that crap.

Kobe has L.A. Even in that he is better than Lebron. If James wants to show he is indeed "the King", he has to do it on a big stage like Kobe is. Somewhere like... lets see...

New York?

Ooops, wrong topic for the wrong thread.

Well we really don't play a whole lot of defense. We are trying to get better. As for Lebron James I beleive these are little hints that maybe he is using us like Michael Jordan, and Kobe did.I like Lebron and maybe the Knicks will get this as a hint from Lebron that if we don't start playing defense, he ain't coming to New York.

I agree that the truth hurts and I find it adorable at how overly protective some Knicks fans are about their team that they're offended by any criticism, legitimate or otherwise.

I disagree that LeBron is using the Knicks like those other players might have. The big difference being that the Knicks are putting themselves in a position where they are legitimate contenders for his services and the player isn't a lock to stay with his current team. I think D'Antoni has a year and a half to start proving that he's not a one trick pony and that he can get his team to play solid defense and execute in the half court. If he can get this bunch into the playoffs next year and be a tough out, that would do wonders for this franchise.

This analysis makes sense to me.

By the way...

The Cavs have beaten us 101-119 and 82-118. If Lebron's "trash talk" comment is based on the two games he has played against the Knicks this year, it is hard to challenge his conclusion.

We played some nice team D vs Phoenix against a physically bigger team- don't see why the Knicks can't play the same way against the Cavs. I am actually more concerned about how our offense plays against the better defensive teams such as the Cavs.

February 2nd "hell week" is coming up- Lakers, Cavs, Celtics. Should be interesting to see how this Knicks team holds up that week.

I wonder how we will play D against the Cavs on the 4th? If I was MDA I would definitely use James' comments as motivation, but I have a feeling that the Knicks players will not take them too seriously.
