I really liked the way Gallinari has competed--he really is trying hard. He's also a lot taller than he appears and this will help the Knicks. He's not quick of foot--but he's tall with long arms which should help on the D and on the offensive glass. I think this is a player you bring along moderately--he has been successful so far---inserting him into the starting lineup where he may have to go 1-1 with starting 3s might not have the same effect. Coming off the bench--being a relative unknown with very little to be scouted on is his advantage right now--so let him play the 20 minutes and hopefully he can build it up from there over time

Who are you and what have you done to Briggs?

Seriously, if he does start playing better and putting numbers up consistently I am looking forward to that post... "Thank god we didn't draft (name here) and took Gallo instead!" along with your analysis of course. (On a different note, we sure did miss out on getting Jordan from the Clippers when we sent over Zach and Mardy, was there a chance???)

Gallo is playing with a head on his shoulders. Over time I'd like to see how he and Lee play together, you know, two heady players.
I say keep him coming off the bench. Let's see him like this for 2 more weeks or so then revisit things. Also, he needs to further strengthen his back and we don't need him putting more pressure on himself starting. Don't forget the injury but he clearly will make the first team a bit more cohesive with his team play.

his mentality is the most impressive part about him.
Asked if he is anticipating other veterans testing him, Gallinari said: "Come at me? I don't have no problem. I take the challenge and I take any kind of player. I play for the team and I play to win.

As a teacher I am irked at his grammar, though.

No need to start him this year. Let him build up his game legs and endurance, and if he gets better, just give him more MPG. I am also a believer in team chemistry, and you don't want to ruffle any feathers by inserting him into the starting lineup at this point. I mentioned this on another thread, but you don't want to push Chandler out of his starting slot, and he would be the logical choice to be moved if Gallinari is made a starter. My gut feeling is that Chandler, despite his stoicism, might experience some confidence problems if he loses his starting position.

I will say this, though, MDA should be using this year as a "test" for Gallo, Chandler, Harrington, and Thomas. Each of them can, to some extent, play at the 3 or 4 positions. MDA should be moving them around to see what the best combinations are and use his conclusions for drafting decisions and deciding on our starting lineup for next year. He should also give more playing time to the guys who are playing the best, even if he does not tamper with the starting lineup.

Irk this: don't start the Rooster. At least not this season. Let him make strides as a reserve, earn his stripes, man. Nothing wrong with that. Without a doubt, given The Rooster's mentality, keeping him on the bench would be doing him a favor- and the kicker is that, this kid would understand why this is the case. Gotta love The Rooster.

I'm a teacher too and though I don't teach English like that it sure seems that it is a pretty typical way for native speakers to stress speech. Sort of like how Americans also say things like "If I would have known, I would have..." which is "technically" wrong but used by millions. So, language is not static...

He's playing hurt and he's playing after missing his first training camp and after not having played for many months. Fifteen to twenty minutes a game is good. Maybe if his back gets better and he has a number of games behind him, they can increase his time.

I am also a teacher, and I must say I am thoroughly appalled at how our language is being degraded. It is indeed irksome. The NBA should add English teachers to the coaching staffs of each team.

Oh, one little thing I should correct: I'm not really a teacher. I'm a coach. Which is nearly the same thing. My current position is coaching Bippity10 to exert more effort and to reach 10,000 posts. I think I'm doing a pretty darn good job.

But yeah, it's a shame the way these kids today are butchering the language.

I too am a teacher. You should replace the sentence I have in bold with the following:
Which is nearly the same thing?

or

This is nearly the same thing.

Nah. Just Galloing with you.

Just poking fun at his response. The reporter could (Should?) have "cleaned up" the grammar.

Hell, I don't even have a second language I can converse in, so he is way ahead of me there.

I might also add that besides being able to speak in two languages, he can also use his left hand as well as he uses his right one. Some of you guys are going to be drooling when you see the control and extension he can get on his left handed shots- it is exactly the same as his right handed shot.

Seriously, my office would be a hell of a lot more fun if some of you guys worked in it. It's a bit... irksome for me. I teach grammatically correct English (for the most part) but the strict British style is a bit dry for our American ears. You guys familiar with it?

LOL and thanks,

Papabear Says

Gallinari is coming along fine. Let's not tamper with him starting. I beleive one of Chandler's problem is that he is looking over his shoulder and thinking too hard. Before he started he had nothing to loose but now it's that starting spot. They all know that half of them won't be back in 2010.

PS Jerome James should be called Jessie James (they both are robbers)I think big snack stole more.
