even though we are losing.. what center will take his spot? Big Z? playing 25mpg? I don't really see any other center in the East comparing with Lee EVEN on a loosing team. They need to vote in a center.. and Lee is a center right?

david lee is a real interesting study in the art of rebounding. he's just astoundingly good at holding onto balls that are caroming off at awkward angles.
(i guess he's the amber lee ettinger of rebounders )

Bottom line is he will do it the whole year and will get better as the year goes. Everyone says he has to take over games when has Bosh did that at toronto this year? They are as bad as the Knicks and they have a savior.

That's the hole in his game that he hasn't addressed. I don't think he has quick enough feet to do it.

the closest in terms of stats is Emeka Okafor (14 / 11 / 2) & u can make a great case for him as well... but considering the fact that Lee is second only to D Howard in double doubles this season i think D Lee deserves to get in... still, i dunno if he'll get the nod because of all the crap that's gone on in NY over the years, but hopefully other people have been paying attention to what he's been doing this season than just us Knicks fans... he's been great.

Lee isan All-Star. He has been plaing center and putting up those numbers. That's crazy. Magloire made AS, andh e sckes.

yeah, maybe okafor deserves to go in before lee but lee's team has the better record. they could just elect a bunch of forwards and just have dhoward as the lone center, they have done that before.

It's not even close between lee and okafur.

We need to take into account that there was a major trade and the knicks played short handed and lost 3-4 games they should have won because they didn't have enough players on their roster. So in reality the knicks should be about 19-22 or closer to the 500 mark.

There is one player in the east that is putting up Lee numbers and that is Dwight Howard.

Lee = 15.5 pts / 11.4 reb / 0.4 blocks in 34.9 mpg on 57% shooting

how is it not even close when the stats are almost identical? Okafor is way ahead in shotblocks but Lee's team has a better overall record... u can make an argument for either one to make it to the AS game this season based on those #'s.

again, i would love to see Lee get in but i wouldn't be shocked if he didn't.

Lee was a starter all year long... if anything D Lee's #'s after the trade became inflated because of the absence of Zach... both guys are averaging the same exact amount of minutes per game & almost the same exact points & rebounds... they both deserve serious consideration.

Lee was a starter at the start of the season, yes, but it was a weird, ugly situation. Okafor has been in this role for his whole career. Also, check out Okafor's assist numbers- he goes GAMES and GAMES without a single assist. Where is Okafor's jumper?

I think it's hands down.

I don't think that will be considered much when the reserves are determined and I don't think "having the better team" is given much weight when both teams are well below .500. I think they'll look at the two players and say, "similar offense, similar rebounding, but much better defense out of Okafor" and Okafor will get the edge. If we want to be able to re-sign Lee for less than $10 mil/year, that's probably a good thing anyway.

the same can be said about D Lee's shotblocking skills... they're non-existent... it's not as cut & dry as u wanna make it out to be IMO.

Shot blocking is different from assists, I feel. Blocking shots is a specialty, it is not really expected but a great bonus. Okafor is also a natural C.

Passing is a basic skill, dude. Every starting player should be able to pick up at least between a dime or two during the course of a game. Lee averages 2 and is getting better; Okafor is fundamentally flawed.

Lee hardly plays any defense either... isn't defense a fundamental part of the game? sure Okafor is fundamentally flawed but please let's not make D Lee out to be some well rounded basketball player... he's got his fundamental flaws too.
