I'm ok with the whole 2010 thing, but if you have a chance to acquire one of those guys now-for example Amare in a deal so that PHX has an expiring this year(ie, Amare and filler for Steph and Nate, or Amare for Malik, Nate, Jefferies and conditional swap of #1's), being as unhappy as he reportedly may be, you have to go for it, IMO.

imho, if the knicks don't get lebron or wade, then the 2010 plan wasn't necessary...

Can you please outline an alternative......

my fear...well not exactly fear, but i can see how anybody that comes here in 2010 will be looked upon as the savior. and when that player doesn't deliver, the fanbase will start turning on him/them much like how they turned on ewing. and outside of lebron + wade, i'm not sure anybody else can come in here and turn it around that drastically in 2010. and it will probably take another 2-3 years AFTER that guy is acquired in 2010 to get pieces to put them in a contender category (and most likely w/o walsh as the gm).

it's a plan...and they're sticking to it. so it's best to see it out. but it's not the only plan. isiah had a decent plan, he just botched it up with his own ego, mismanagement and his poor judge of character/talent in his acquisitions.

You know as well as anybody that championships are extremely hard to come by. Other than Lebron, Wade, Kobe and Duncan, every other player in this league are perhaps second fiddle guys. So in essence, when people take the stand that its Lebron or bust, then I assume any team in the league that doesn't have one of the aforementioned top four players (unless your Boston and have the big 3) then every other team in the league mind as well fold up shop and call it a franchise. I mean really, whats the point?

However, if we are able to come away with Bosh and J. Johnson or a any combination that doesnt include Wade or Lebron, not only are in better shape as a team as we have been in a decade, but the foundation is set, the road is being paved and we can move forward and collect the rest of the pieces that may fit. I agree that NY fans are fickle, and we think its our natural born right to have championships, and the booing of Ewing was absurd. With that said, I miss the days when we had a star good enough to be mistreated. I wish we had a Bosh, or Stoudamire etc tha we could mistreat.

Without being fickle and changing my opinion with each game... David Lee's use of the jumpshot last night makes me want to keep him on the team even more. I hope there is a way to dump Curry and Jeffries without losing Gallo or Lee.

getting Bosh, Amare or Dirk wouldn't have made the 2010 plan necessary?

No. While I like all 3, they weren't what I was sold. It's like being told that you are about to get a Porshe but instead leave the showroom with a Miata. Still a nice affordable car but it ain't a Porshe.

Regardless of the 2010 outcome this roster needed to be torn down. Is anyone here missing Zach's month+ knee injury or Crawful's 37% shooting? If you say 2010 wasn't necessary then you're saying YES I MISS THEM.

Fact is we can strike out entirely on the 2010 FA market and to me the liquidation of Zach/Craw was necessary and a huge positive for this franchise moving forward. We dumped two overpaid losers and opened the door for the youth to get to play. In the meantime we gave ourselves a chance to compete in one of the bigger FA offseasons in years.

What's so wrong about all that? I'll never understand the preemptive negativity regarding 2010.

The only way we truly lose by freeing up 2010 cap sapce is if we miss out on the top FAs AND the NBA owners allow the collective bargaining agreement to expire... all that cap space will be valueless...
