THe limo is about function not looks. Its not really a car but a lowered truck frame.

Those wheels are special to handle the task and weight.

ITs sad he has to drive such rolling bunker.

I agree with you 100% but... Why you want to take the celebration away from people who never believe in this?
For some this is dream come through. I can understand this. And I think they deserve it.
For some it is also a wakeup call - no more excuses, time to move on.
I do think this is historic moment regardless how it will go for him in the office.
And if he will be able to bring a little close the time when people will stop calling each other by race, national descent, gender, or sex orientation he will get his legacy… Even a little bit closer…

Again, you attach those words to a man and you keep racism alive. No need to declare his race. None.

racism will go on as long as ignorant people exist in this country... removing the race labels to identify our President isn't going to get rid of it... the fact of the matter is that he's a minority of mixed heritage... just because u don't talk about it doesn't change it... racist people are going to hate him because of this fact whether we talk about it or not... it's just a sad reality.

he is our President also... everyone is able to celebrate it, whether you're black, white, Asian, Latino or whatever else... but the minority factor adds special meaning to other minorities in this country & is worth celebrating as well... when u consider the history of this country in terms of race relations & in particular towards African Americans, u cannot simply gloss over the fact that we now have a minority President taking office today... it's a historical day in our history & much more than just your run of the mill Presidential Inauguration.

Yeah....I hear ya both. You're both right. I'll quietly exit this thread now....and process the video feed I recorded and post it a bit later.

Obama getting sworn in wasn't the smoothest Oath I've seen, btw.

He was trying to trick Obama. They were gonna come back later and say that he's not really president because he didn't say the oath properly. Then Bush would return and impose martial law.

Apparently Senator Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure during the luncheon today and had to be taken to a hospital.

That's a shame. He looked really good at the Inauguration Ceremony, walking around without any assistance. He's a big Obama supporter from the beginning and good for him that he was able to make it today at all knowing his condition.

Guys, I had a hell of a time the past two days... I'm in DC, so yesterday I went to Oprah's inauguration special. Htat was cool. I had tickets to the inauguration, but that didn't work out so well. The cops ****ed it up, and me and a lot of others didn't get through security. They blocked the ****ing thing off... it sucks, but I felt really, really, REALLY bad for the old black ladies that made the trip from all over... one guy was a 30 year Navy vet that flew in from Hawaii... I'm mad, but it ended up all right because I bonded with strangers... we were all huddled around people's speaker phones and I met a lot of wonderful people. There were quite a lot of "LET US IN" chants, and the damn police closed the gates on us for their safety... for a minute I feared it was going to turn into a Black Friday Walmart scenario, but everyone there was peaceful and we made the most out of a lousy experience. This one beautiful black girl (I wanted to ask her to dinner but both our families were around) came up from the South to shoot a journalism story, and she was worried she wouldn't get one. I saw her filming all of us around the cell phones later and went up to her and said, "not what you wanted, but it looked like you found your story" and she started to cry because it really was a touching scene.

Sorry for the ramble, but I thought y'all would enjoy my babble (for once)

Eh, just another day. But the next year is the most important. I just hope that all this 'yes we can' doesn't end up disappointing A LOT of people, myself included.

We are at a point where there is not much time for idealism and formality. Hard work is the only cure.

George W took a lot of hits today from the POTUS and the hostile crowd. Man, I almost felt sorry for him.

Nah, good riddance and job... done.

He kinda looked like a villain in a James Bond movie.
