fellas you don't rupture your achilles tendon unless you’re BUSTING it.

even without seeing court time during games, jerome was, as always, busting it in practice.

this man has more heart and soul in his pinky than most players have in their whole heart and soul!!!!

He is clearly like the ancient Trojan hero.

We took him for granted. We didn't really know what we had until he was gone. And now he's gone. The world is a crappier place than it was yesterday.

I apologize to Jerome. He actually has played 1 more game than Curry this year. That alone is grounds for retirement on Curry.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I'm working my ass off earning bread so when I take my early retirement in 4 years, I will be making about 54Gs/year from my state pension plan, and this guy is making 6 million+/"season."

Yeah, life is fair.

We should just sign up Patrick Ewing Sr. to fill James' spot.

Well, there goes the season. It's going to be tough but I hope the rest of the Knicks can pull together, reach down deep, and find it in themselves to win a few games to honor James's Purple Heart. Ahem.

Most probably he picks up his option and is bought out by the Knicks before the season ends. He even suggested that at some point starting the season, so after this, he should consider retiring big time.

What a pathetic signing this has been.

Pathetic Jerome.

Important info on this situation:
The next time you see "James" on a Knicks jersey...
The Knicks revealed today that Jerome James suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon and is out for the season. Considering the severity of the injury -- not to mention the complete disinterest in getting him back -- we've likely seen the last of Big 'Rome.

The injury happened during Sunday's practice. And just in time to save the Knicks some luxury tax money. James' $6.2 million salary can be picked up by insurance after he misses 41 games. Today's game against the Chicago Bulls is Game 40, which leaves 42 games to go.

Jerome will pick up his $6.6M player option for next season, but the Knicks will likely look to buy that out to free up a roster spot for 2009-10.

So the next time we see "James" on the back of a Knicks jersey, it may be you know who...

What a freakin joke. The NBA has to do something about these guaranteed contracts for players that don't live up to them...

Can they please just cut JJ1 already. Why do we even waste time with this guy? Pay him the last year of his deal and open up the roster spot.

It's not how do business.
Which example this will set for other players?
Do nothing, fake some ingury, and go for paid vacation... Nice...

The NBA is a joke, especially with situations like this.

(a) JJ1 did not fake a torn ACL or MCL or whatever he did to his knee; and

(b) It is all about diminishing returns at this point. While you try to set an example by trying to squeeze some usefulness out of a player who is not going to be useful, we could be using that spot for someone who actually can contribute to the team. The bad example is not cutting JJ1, it was the fact that we signed a player who had done nothing in his career to a 5yr, $29 million contract, which he clearly did not deserve. That was the bad example. Keeping JJ1 on the roster serves little purpose at this point.
