More important to whom? It would make sense if the government was really interested in improving the education of the nation's future instead of keep the sports leagues running because of the big bucks coming, the business running and the fans entertained.

Would like to think it isn't like that, but facts are facts.

NBDL players are paid by the organizations that employ them. This money is obtained from the revenue earned by the team, mostly through ticket sales, concessions, advertising sales etc. from the games. The more fans they draw, the more money the teams make, the more money the players make.

Teachers are paid by yours and my tax dollars. Now if they raise the taxes people like you and me cry and moan about our increased taxes.

They still can pay them enough with the same number of taxes. They should actually be able to do it without taxing anyone (how legal is it, anyway?). But they have more important things to do with most of the tax money, and it doesn't necessarily go to building the nation.

Most of The guys in the NBDL got a free education and are making money to play basketball. If you figure that salary out for an entire year they make 75000. Most of these guys have camps. They have 8 months to do other things. The compensation is appropriate.

I don't know if I call getting told to show up at practices, play games, travel around the country and listen to a cranky middle age man doing something for free. That's why they have to sign committment letters. There is a reason why CBS, ESPN and regional networks gives the NCAA billion of dollars. Ain't nothing free.

I have no problem if my tax dollars go to increase teaches compensation. But i have a problem of feeding all the piramid on top of them.
All school should be private and the tutoring of pure should be paid by government to private schools.
We are more socialist already that USSR was.




isnt this known as a charter school? i think a good solution to education is more complicated than fully privitizing the industry. but agreed that many administrators get paid big $$$ to do didly. what is average superintendent salary? 200k?

Teachers starting salary in nyc is about 41k and long island and upstate is about 50k. Police officers make about 25k starting.

Exactly. Just because some idiots paid Marbury and TMac and clowns like that to make 20M a year to play a kids game - and not do it very well - doesn't mean all WNBA and NBDL players should make the same. In fact, the opposite, how did ANYONE allow a max FA to go beyond 5M dollars a year?

FIVE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to play BASKETBALL isn't enough? LOL!!!! Yeah, we need to make it so all basketball SCRUBS can make at least 5M a year right? Right.

yea, did you see mike james house on the nanny. Average players make way too much money... It is like paying and average accountant or lawyer 150K per year, while talent like cochran made 160K.. the NBA is so lopsided. Bums and scrubs make big money...... as you said, the fact that an NBA scrub can make 5 mil is atrocious...

True. But a teacher's salary increases when they get their Masters Degree. Not to mention if they work during the summer and after school you could be talking about a teacher making 70k.

Police officers need a stronger union. With the economy going bad, crime will go up. Therefore there will be more of a demand to have police on the streets.

As far as getting paid 25k, I really don't know how someone can survive in New York with getting paid that amount. Unless someone shares a living space with someone else. The salary of d-league players will increase If the D-League starts making more revenue.
