TMS I also agree with you sell high on Lee and dump some more salary since the cap stands a great chance to go down. Lower Cap number means less money available to sign players to put around Lebron.

is that even at a pisspoor record of 15W - 22L, they're still only 2.5 games out of the #8 seed... i don't want them making any stupid trades at the deadline to try & eek out a playoff berth... i think now is the time to jettison contracts & to use our trade chips to amass picks whereever we can.

the only thing that gives me hope is the fact that Donnie's been focused on 2010 since he got here... i just hope he doesn't veer from the plan for the sake of appeasing Dolan & the short sighted Knick fans that want playoffs at all costs.

What scares me is this team could win more than 35gms and miss the playoffs. But if I think they could then I'm fooling myself because they're nothing better than a 30win ball club.

i think the scarier thought is that we win less than 35 & still sneak in considering how pathetically weak the lower echelon playoff teams are in the EC... & then these guys consider that as some kind of achievement to be proud of like they did when they got swept outta the playoffs by the Nets that year Stephon & Fugazy were leading this team.

The Celtics already had a big time star in Pierce sitting on their roster. We don't have that.

The way he's going maybe David Lee continues to develop into that? I'm not declaring I'm just saying... he's getting better right before our eyes. Everything I brought up about why Lee might be traded he's started doing those things that would require him to stay and get paid: Jump shot and better defense.

In 18 months maybe Lee is a bonafide starter on ANY team. If he is and we pay him we attract 1 max FA and one very solid FA and you got a good trio - with guys like Chandler and Gallo and Duhon potentially there as well as a good supporting cast.

I doubt it because all the teams 1-8 right now almost have 20wins with over 42gms left to play. I get your point about backing in because the conference after the Top 4 or 5 is so bad. But this team is only a 30win team or no better than 35 but a 2gm win streak changes how this team is viewed. If they lose 2 in a row well....Nah forget it!

I don't buy this stuff about guys learning how to lose. bad players create losing teams. we have a lot of bad players, and very few really good ones. until we add better players, we are going to have losing records.

I'm not worried about sneaking into the playoffs and what that will do to the team psyche. This is NY, nobody is stupid enough to believe getting bounced out in the first round as an 8th seed with a losing record is that much of an accomplishment. Besides, in a couple of years most of these players arent going to be here.

The only thing detrimental to getting an 8th seed is our draft status. We need to tank, obviously, but it looks like that's not happening.

Where's Gallo?

Where's Gallo?

in '04 we backed into the 7th seed w/a 39 win record & we had vets like Marbury, Fugazy, Penny Hardaway, KT, Shandon Anderson, Dikembe & Nazr talking about how they had accomplished their goal.

we also had young kids like Frank Williams & Mike Sweetney, 2 "promising young kids" who were learning that sneaking into the playoffs was something to be proud of... we all saw how much of an impact that playoffs experience had on those 2... please guys, enough w/this stuff about how great it would be for our young players to see postseason play & how that is more important than getting a high pick in the lottery...

we also had some Knicks fans pumped up like there was no tomorrow about how that team was gonna repeat the '99 squad's accomplishment & get to the Finals as a late seed... Isiah was the king as far as a lot of people were concerned... he'd gotten the mission accomplished, we'd made the playoffs after a 2 year absence! WOO HOO!

if Isiah had done what he should have done & completely tore down Layden's roster & just tanked that year he coulda have ended up w/a talent like Devin Harris (#5 overall pick), Luol Deng (#7 overall pick), Andre Iguodala (#9 overall pick) or Andris Biedrins (#11 overall pick)... instead we ended up w/a big headed Marbury who saw himself as the savior of this franchise & a buncha old tired vets that had zero future on this team & in our longterm goals... but at least we got to see Fugazy Tim call K-Mart out for being a fugazy while he got his butt punked on the playoff court & had to sit out the rest of the games... thank goodness for that.
