lol, fantasy.

the roster i posted isn't really all that unreasonable to imagine... if we can dump Curry's contract next year we'll have the cap space to offer both Bosh & Lebron max contracts as well as another MLE level guy like Kidd or Nash... & both Patterson & Derozan are projected as mid-late 1st round picks right now, so u can easily pick them up w/the pick we already own & another pick we get by trading either D Lee or Nate.

Har dee har har

He said "dump Curry's contract" as if it can be thrown out with yesterdays trash.

You don't "dump" contracts. A franshise is obligated to take back equal monetary value for contracts. If Donnie Walsh can dupe another NBA General Manager into giving Eddy Curry a roster spot for the cash he is obligated to be paid, he is an automatic and unanimous shoo-in for Executive of The Decade.

Dump Eddy Curry contract?

That's Funny

TMS - easily?

Not so fast homey-domey. You mean to tell me that in a shrining economy, a team WANTS to pay Eddy's chedda on top of the chedda that David Lee's agent thinks he is worth after putting up a solid double-double season (AND who also happens to be an attractive marketable commodity)?

That's a lot of money.

Like I was sayin', if Donnie pulls that off he can have the next David Blaine Special.

out of D Lee, Nate & Curry, to get an expiring & a mid-late 1st round pick from that package is not unreasonable in the least even w/Curry being fat & out of shape IMO.

Marv - x was rugged and raw, but was he lovable?

Derek harper - feisty for sure, but lovable?

Lonnie shelton - highly skilled and missed in Seattle. Kinda lovable in a long-distance sense

Michael Ray Richardson - tragically lovable in retrospect

You want lovable?

Dancing Harry was lovable

Ray Williams - dug the 'fro and he was from Mount Vernon, love the 4th Street playground

TMS - I feel you but, forget the draft picks, you STILL are mandated to take dreck (making equivalent salary) back in return. Lazaro Borrell and Travis Knight anyone?

the KEY operative word is expendable

what team has expendable dudes making that much chedda?

i'll take back whatever dreck there is as long as those contracts expire after next season & we can get that mid-late 1st round pick in the process.

as for what teams have expendable garbage, come on dude, are u serious? there's plenty of players in the NBA w/2009 expirings that can match up the dollars... a combination of players is fine too, or we can work a 3 way... there's lots of different ways u can go about dumping Curry's contract & still get back a pick... that pick & that cap space is essential to our 2010 plan

for example, u don't think an offer of D Lee & Curry would land us Stackhouse, garbage filler like Mbenga & Devean George, & DAL's 1st rounder unprotected? i sure think it would... & that's probably the worst possible package i can think of from a Knicks' perspective to get back for Curry & D Lee... i'm sure Donnie could work some borderline playoff contenders for a better package than that.

Mbenga plays on the Lakers.

whatever... the point is there's tons of deals u can work like that w/teams looking to shore up their frontcourt for a playoff run.

read my lips Answer Man, young players like D Lee are well-valued in the NBA & can easily land u more than just a late 1st round pick... Nate by himself could probably land u a late 1st rounder at the very least... u really think i don't think about these things before i post trade ideas? disagree w/me if u like, i really don't care 1 way or the other.

I still think the following trade with Washington makes a lot of sense for both teams:

Lee, Duhon, Malik's expiring, Roberson for *Etan Thomas, Mike James, JaVale McGee, Nick Young and their 2009 2nd rounder. Be nice to grab Javaris Crittenton as well, but that might be asking for too much.

Washington gets A HUGE UPGRADE with the younger Lee/Duhon package over Thomas/James - the fact that Lee and Duhon actually excel playing together is another added benefit for Washington. Getting a steady pass-first PG like Duhon would allow Agent Zero to come back and play the 2 where he's probably at his best anyway (Arenas is a scorer first and foremost). If they got Lee and drafted a guy like Griffin, Thabeet or Jordan Hill with Arenas coming back - look out for the Wizards next season. They'd be a totally different team, one that could really make some noise -

1 - Duhon/Arenas/Crittenton
2 - Arenas/Butler/Stevenson/Crittenton
3 - Butler/Jamison/McGuire
4 - Lee/Jamison/Blatche/Songaila
5 - Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet or Jordan Hill/Blatche/Haywood/Pecherov

That's a lot of talent, a lot of youth, a lot of interchangeability and a lot of firepower...

The Knicks would get Etan Thomas & Mike James for the interim who are both still serviceable enough to help keep this thing together for the next yr. and a half. Both guys come off the books in time for 2010 FA. And we get 3 nice young building blocks to work into the lineup - JaVale McGee (big and athletic with a lot of talent - is he the next Marcus Camby? Who knows, the Wizards barely play the guy), Nick Young (playing real well for the Wizards lately, 28 @ Chi. a few days ago, 30 last night against Milwaukee at home - this kid becomes our starting 2 guard) and that EARLY 2009 2nd round pick that we could either grab a decent player with like Taj Gibson or package together with something else to move up in the draft. Now if we tank out the rest of the way and maximize that draft pick (maybe we snag a Jeff Teague who could be the next Dwayne Wade), together with those 3 newly acquired building blocks along with Gallo, Chandler and Nate, we'd be in pretty decent shape moving forward ourselves. Add a bigtime FA or two in 2010, who knows, we could be ready to finally start making some noise ourselves...

*Just saw on ESPN that Thomas tore a ligament in his left knee - even if he wasn't 100% by the trading deadline I'd still do this deal if I were the Knicks.

The Answer Man Is Not A Lip Reader Nor Does He Understand The Words That Are Coming Out Of Your Mouth

TMS - "read my lips Answer Man, young players like D Lee are well-valued in the NBA & can easily land u more than just a late 1st round pick"

AM - hold up TMS, with all due respect - we did not start this debate talking about the relative value of David Lee. Your attempt was to bundle him as camouflage bait for the news feature of the day, Eddy Curry, in your so-called (and I quote) "contract dump".

Of course Lee has some value, that is not the issue.

The issue is finding a sucka NBA GM to take Eddy Curry, along with his embarrasing (1795 views of that appetizing thread so far) baggage, who is also willing to pay him more than most of the players in the league.

Of course, you can fondle trade checker until your fingers are numb, but that does not translate into a deal making sense from the other side of the fence in the real world.

If David Lee can easily land a first round pick, as you claim, then Donnie Walsh can put his feet on the desk and wait for the offers to pour in.

We fans have absolutely nothing to worry about.

like i said, if u find my explanations lacking that's your problem... D Lee & Nate are both attractive trade chips & i think it's reasonable to assume you could use those guys as pieces to dump Curry's contract & still get back a mid-late 1st round pick... but go ahead & keep throwing your backhanded sarcasm my way... it's not changing my opinion.

One more thing TMS - venturing to a new city is an act of courage. You, as a creative person, understand that you can re-invent yourself. Sometimes, it takes a lot longer to settle in a place so don't let it get you down. Keep moving forward.

You'll find it.
