Mr. Kevin is a great General manager. He looks good and does good deals.

I hope you're female. Thats crazy suspect. Probably explains your emotional post.

And what has he personally done, since he was named general manager in '07, that warrants him being called "great"? I just cast the same objective eye on others that I do for our Knicks.

I dont feel the need to exalt people just because they work for other organizations and they are beneficiaries of the hype that surrounds current flavors of the month. Seen it far too many times. I'm saying he needs to prove himself. Thats all.

exactly. if he were Gm of the knicks he would get trashed for the handling of miles and trashed for not taking durant over oden.. A lot NY fans are flavor of the month fans, as long as they are not in knicks uniforms, and they have that grass is always greener syndrome... typical self hate Ny fans...

He would by some but there are many New York fans who feel Durant is overrated and isn't a difference maker in the win column for OKC. New York fans are getting on him for the handling of the Miles situation.

I don't see a point here.

Obviously you're going to judge him ultimately on what he's done to rebuild the team. His good decisions far outweigh his bad ones, but if he isn't careful they could cancel each other out or slant in the wrong direction.

Well I'll be damned (and wrong) he can play???
Darius Miles played just under 14 minutes in Tuesday night's Memphis loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and put up some good numbers.

If Miles plays in just one more game this season his salary for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 will go back on to the Portland Trail Blazers cap, which will not only put them above the tax for this season, but could cost them a shot at a maximum salary free agent as well.

Miles scored 13 points on 4-6 shooting and went 5-7 from the line in his strongest performance of his comeback yet.

Portland won't just have this guy back on their cap they're getting a call from insurance telling them they now owe the full 18M salary as well!

This would indirectly help the Knicks because Portland covets David Lee and they'd have less space with which to make an offer. To make things even more interesting, what other team reportedly covets DLee? The Memphis Grizzlies.

If they don't tender qualifying offers to Frye and DIogu they'll have almost $10-15mil in cap space pending the Salary Cap figure for next yr. I don't understand why fans keep stating this. If they really think Lee is their guy, they'll go after him. In a similar way Philly went after Brand in the summer when they cleared cap for him.

I read here that Portland would only have $7M in cap space if Darius counts against their cap.
When they received the “career-ending” exemption for Miles, the Blazers were able to remove the $27 million he was owed for this year (and the next two) off of the salary cap (they still had to pay whatever insurance did not cover, but it was off of the cap). If Miles plays two more games, that money comes back on to their cap, and instead of having $16 million in cap space this offseason, they will only have $7 million.

If that's inaccurate then whatever. I don't really care to verify it either way. Just thought it was interesting that the two teams at the center of this controversy are both apparently going to be courting David Lee this summer.

That's a correct figure going off the current Cap. But then knock off another $8mil in cap if they choose to not extend QO's to Frye and Diogu... you have a figure between $10-15mil as I stated depending the Salary Cap figure next yr. It's highly likely both players won't get their QO because their Cap Hit counts 300% of their QO salary against their cap and they both make about $4mil/piece. That would be a cap hit of $9-12mil a piece thus eating up any cap space to sign a FA. Essentially Portland will be renouncing them. They can't trade them on draft night either not to my knowledge. I'll look and see when a QO has to be extended and accepted and when it will take affect. There might be a possibility but I'm thinking not.

LOL. Portland is going to get screwed. They should have traded Miles when they had the chance but they wanted to hold onto him because they thought he would retire like Jonathan Bender.

As you can see, even without the QOs the Blazers need to drop more salary to be in the FA game.

Nice catch. Joel and Outlaw are probably trade bait. If the cap stays where it's at they can still offer Lee a first yr starting salary of $8.5mil quantified over 5yrs which gives him a contract on the other side of $45mil.
