i say there are decent. they have a good player in roy. but i think lamarcus is overrated and their prospects to contend rely on oden. all those other guys: sergio, outlaw, webster, rudy, etc...all of them are just spare parts. they need to cash all those pieces in for a big time player otherwise the future rests on oden's knees.

I kind of hoped a long time ago that the Knicks buckled up and did what the Blazers did. It should sustain success for a long period of time. You have to take your lumps and get those high picks. They had some very bad luck with Oden but I think he will be OK.


The Knicks do things half arsed--believe me if the Knicks could get that 8th seed at 30-52 they would take it and flaunt it--although it really does nothing long term for the team. Unless you haev a GM who can pull of a Dumars--the best bet is get a few very high picks and dont make mistakes with them/

Benjamin Button and the Blazers will be fine. They are already ahead of schedule. Aldridge will get better. Oden will get better.

Webster may not be the answer, but so far it looks like Fernandez could be. Outlaw is a decent roleplayer. Maybe Bayless develops for them, or yields them something useful.

If they got a veteran leader at PG they could be doing some stuff right now. This would be a good team for Jason Kidd to finish up his career on.

Where us this notion they are being anointed or are overrated?

What Portland is given credit for is moving from the Jailblazers to a winning franchise. Experts still have doubts about there team and how good they are. They may rave about some of the young players which they have some very nice pieces but no one considers them a juggernaut. They've consistently been in the Top 8 all yr pretty much. What they have to prove is they can be a second half team. They're on the exact same pace they were on last yr but what will they do over the next 40gms is the big question. They're 2 1/2 games back of a 2 seed. I think they are a legit playoff team.
