Kobe having Shaq and playing on better teams is even more reason why you believe he is better? I'm sorry, I dont follow your logic. Unless you are infering that Kobe was also the GM behind the scenes he was the one who orchestrated the signing of Shaq and put that team together. Other than that, I dont follow your logic.

You siad it yourself, the cards he was dealt. Kobe has had a much better hand than Lebron up until this point.

I don't want to argue, because this thread purely opinionated. Once again you are blaming Bryant for "Kobe has had a much better hand than Lebron up until this point."

What was he supposed to do with Shaq, Horry, Fisher, and those guys ? Lose ?

I'll take LeBron over Kobe any day... Kobe is a great player, but he isn't the beastly, force-of-nature that LeBron is.

The beastly, force of nature that is Lebron will only mater if it brings championships.

Lebron has been the best player in the NBA ever since he destroyed Detroit in the playoffs. Kobe is the most skilled player though. Lebron being 6'8 275 with the speed and athleticism of a SG makes him so dominant. If Lebron was 6'6 220 would he be as dominant?

With that said Lebron is a breath of fresh air to watch. Id watch Lebron play over Kobe any day of the week. He is unbelievable to watch, the passing, the speed & athleticism on offense and defense, then when his jumper is falling.

I just don't see how this guy is ever gonna be a Knick. His team is winning and he has a chance to got to another championship round. What can the Knicks offer him? A rebuilding situation.

Its not blamming Kobe, its looking at it from Lebron prospective which you refuse to do. Your bottomline argument seems to be that Kobe is better strictly because he has the rings and MVP. True, he does have more rings but like I said, he aint win those rings by himself. He had hall of fame help. Lebron hasn't at any time in his brief career had the help that Kobe has.

I think they will beat Boston this year to reach the finals. An LA vs. CLE Finals would revive the NBA bigtime.

Totally agree. All I'm saying is that Kobe maximized what he had (Shaq), and it resulted in championships.

If Lebron had, say Dwight Howard on the Cavs, would they win it all this year. I think they would.

If the Cavs win a chip this year, I'll say James is better. You have to have something to show for it.

Its funny, I was telling a friend the other day that in all of my 24 years of watching basketball, I have never seen anyone like him before. I dont think anyone has. When you realize he is the same size as Karl Malone, who was a beast of a power forward in the post, and about as fast and skilled as a guard. its unbeliavable. I thought I scene it all, but Lebron is the only player that can get me out of my seat with the things he does. The speed, the power, the hops....unbelievable.

I think if you replace Kobe with Lebron on those Lakers teams, I think they still get the same 3 rings. Maybe we are not giving Shaq as much credit as he deserves because he not only won it with Kobe and Wade, but those guys didn't win without him.

I'd take Lebron over Kobe right now and Lebron still has some upside.

Lebron is gunning for MJ at this point in terms of legacy. Kobe is a great, great basketball player. But Lebron is the closest thing I have seen to an human being machine, since Bo Jackson. He's just unreal.

Yeah, hands down he is the best.

Honestly, I don't know why Kobe is getting sorta trashed in this thread. I think LeBron is better too, but holding Kobe's three championships against him because he had Shaq is questionable logic. Kobe has won titles. LeBron has a lot of time. Let's judge the titles picture between them if LeBron wins a title or Kobe wins another, because then the picture will be much clearer on that front.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Hmm...

There's no doubt that Lebron is going to be it for the next five years.

Hmm...

Kobe and Lebron have the same number of rings without Shaq....ZERO. When has Lebron played with another hall of famer like Kobe, and played for a hall of fame coach?

In the clucth, 5 seconds left, I will still give Kobe the nod....but all around, the complete package (scoring, rebounding, passing, defense, making teamates better..) Lebron is better.

That "Kobe had Shaq" excuse has been old for a while now. Why do people blame Bryant for the cards he was dealt ? Kobe and Shaq simply maximized each other's talents to win 3 championships, that's all.

How come people never say "MJ won 6 because he had Scottie" ?

He not only had scotty, but the league was way' watered down in talent. Look at the teams they faced in the finals. An ancient Kareem, Magic and Worthy team who were into their 30's. Portland, Phoenix who followed for the first three peat. And then Seattle, and Utah twice. Not exactly dynasty teams of the 90's.

The only ones who gave chicago a run for it's money was NY. Detroit also took care of chicago's butts in the early 90's, but eventually they got too old to do it anymore.

But I'd also like to remind people that it wasn't Kobe or Shaq who saved one of those championships years. A guy by the name of Robert Horry saved both of their butts, after they both had their hands on the ball.

Agreed... but there is no one in the league right now that automatically wins championships. Tim Duncan used to, but he's on the decline

for my team, so would i... but like i said there isn't a better big game player in the NBA than Kobe Bryant... until Lebron has proven himself in the postseason like Kobe has, he won't have that same distinction... i'm confident he will someday because he has too much talent not to step up when it counts the most... anyone who thinks the Lakers woulda won those championships w/o Kobe is kidding themselves... he made some damn miraculous shots in big spots to help bring those Laker teams those championships... it wasn't Shaq that got the touches in crunchtime.
