The same people who are calling him a bust due to injury will flame him when he sucks in his first few games back.

LOL, I know you are right, but it would only last till he shows what kind of player he really is. And if that is good to great, we need to make a list of all those here who were bashing and criticizing him and make it into a sticky and or signature always there to remind those who... doubted the Rooster.

Why are you guys being so childish and acting like we have something personally against him and we want to see him fail. You've got me mixed up. I want to either see him on the court, or I want to know specifically , in medical terms, what's keeping him off of it. Seven months is an excessive amount of time without any concrete answers.

Pay me millions of dollars and I can just chill at the house and say "my back hurts" give me a few more months. Enough is enough.

Point is I want to see him and the Knicks succeed. Why is that so hard to understand?

I hear this guy is available. I think he still owes the Knicks some money from his last stint.

When have the Knicks ever given status updates on injured players in the past? Answers? Who are you, the president? We are all frustrated by his injury but proclaiming him a bust before he is able to play consistently is just a joke IMO. I wasn't even thinking of you when I wrote this but I guess you are one of those people if you got offended by it.

You have no proof he is "sitting at home saying my back hurts" and getting paid millions. It's pretty lame to throw accusations at people for a situation you know very little about.

We all want to see the Knicks succeed. Patience with young players, especially ones with injury, is a part of rebuilding. What is so hard to understand?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

The One Hundred Million Dollar Man.
The Knicks tried to rebuild him but they did not have the technology.

Selbstar, First off I'm not being childish (Just as you clearly don't like being type cast, neither do I). It was said tongue in cheek but with a hint of sarcasm, because it's gotten tough and annoying for everyone involved, in particular those supporting him.

Second, my words were "bashing and criticizing". If you didn't do that then you have nothing to worry about and won't be on "the list".
Backs are so tricky, so you are looking for the wrong type of "concrete answer" regarding his injury. There is none. We/they really don't know. It takes time. We have seen enough to know it's not clear like diagnosing a broken bone. It's complicated and is more a process. (very unfortunate). It requires patience on top of the patience rookies usually need.

If you know anything about Gallo, you wouldn't say stuff like "Pay me millions of dollars and I can just chill at the house and say "my back hurts" give me a few more months. Enough is enough.". That guy played with heart and fire in Europe, that is who he is and it suddenly just didn't stop with a rookie pay day.

There is nothing hard in seeing you want the Knicks to succeed. I really don't know what you have posted regarding him off the top of my head. But it does seem like some people clearly are just adding fuel to the fire with the disaster of a season we've had so far. I don't think I'm even being harsh, if you can give it (not saying you) then you got to take it.

[RANT] Why is this thread taking on some weird "I told you so, HATER!" tone? The hell? Nothing's even gone on yet and we're already at this lame stage!? Fans can't voice displeasure with Gallo's timetable? Can't wonder what type of player he might be? I don't even think I've seen anyone lay down the gauntlet and say they know what kind of player he's going to be so where's THAT preemptive "told ya so" coming from?

Jeez....... that kind of crap belongs on RealGM. LOL OMG I PWNED YOU!... Seriously, stfu, and let people discuss their team and players in peace. This isn't some competition it's fans of the team getting together to debate and discuss the team. You score keepers are hilarious. Someone should keep scores on you guys and then tear you guys new ones when you're wrong about something. That'd be fun, RIGHT? WRONG! Damn... [/RANT]

Meanwhile, is it just me, or is our team really weird with timetables. A few days ago Curry was 2 weeks away. Then it was 3 days away an hour later. Then it was "yeah well he practiced yesterday actually and will debut in a game tomorrow." later that evening. HUH? Those 2 weeks went FAST!! Like 6 hours fast...

A few days ago Gallo was 2 weeks away from ANY full-contact practices and suddenly he had a full contact practice today? This on the heels of him being perpetually "2 weeks away" for six months?

Yeah, a little weird IMO.

After seeing Curry being so ready to play last night I fully expect Gallo to be like one of those old ladies who are bent over at the hip.

If he's playing it better not be a rushed situation. No point in that.

Cosmic, you are this close to being on "the list". (Sorry, couldn't resist ).

Emotions and sports go together I guess. In a way, I guess we are all just projecting what "proper behavior" would be.

I digress. Timetables: I see it as typical business practice. Corporations in general lie as a form of control. They are like governments. Telling the truth in their mind just doesn't work, so they err on the side of caution. Don't agree with it. I guess they both want us to accept not really knowing, to accept lies and knowing that we know they are lying but that we accept it and it isn't spoken about openly. It's like one big giant lie that we both don't speak of. Heck the last few administrations, in particular the ones that rhyme with Tush, did it more times than not. You lie to people so often that they accept it. (oops - This turned into a rant as well).

Good night,
EMS

HA. With the bitching I've done about his "ready in 2 weeks" for well, about 30 consecutive weeks, I probably could be. If they told me he was out 30 weeks - well - that sucks - but then I'd revisit it in 30 weeks lol.

Anyways you make a good point about the business practice regarding timetables. Just never saw a need for that type of lunacy. Especially in sports.

LOL (really), really last post...

Your pretty well liked here, hey that's right, I wouldn't get to see many games if any without you posting them! edit - So it would look really bad if you were on the list, a bit ironic.

With Xmas just passing, it just sounded so good have "a list"... checking it twice...

Damn, now I really can't sleep

Thanks to all,
EMS

Good and bad news on one of our most beloved and controversial rookies

Danilo Gallinari practices, return uncertain

HOUSTON - Danilo Gallinari is the Knicks' international man of mystery. When will he play? Can he play?

Those are just some of the questions Gallinari is asked every day from inquiring fans, reporters, teammates and even his head coach, Mike D'Antoni.

"But in Italian," Gallinari said.

The Italian rookie desperately wants to provide answers but right now he just doesn't know. He returned to practice Friday, participating in four-on-four full-court scrimmages for the first time in two months. A best-case scenario would have Gallinari returning to the lineup within the next three weeks, although Gallinari says he still feels pain in his troublesome lower back.

It's a delicate situation on many levels. The Knicks see Gallinari as a significant part of their future and don't want to risk further injury by rushing him back to the lineup. However, while the rest of the rookie class is off and running - particularly those selected after Gallinari, the sixth pick of the 2008 NBA draft - the Knicks don't want to see his rookie season go to waste.

The 6-10 Gallinari is the Knicks' first first-round draft pick from Europe since the immortal Frederic Weis in 1999. Weis never played a game for the Knicks while the player taken after him, Ron Artest, became an All-Star. Many Knicks fans are concerned that history is repeating itself.

The player selected immediately after Gallinari was Eric Gordon, a shooting guard who is averaging 12.2 points per game for the Clippers. The only natural shooting guard on the Knicks' roster is backup Anthony Roberson. Point guard D.J. Augustin and center Brook Lopez were also picked after Gallinari by the Bobcats and Nets, respectively, and both have made immediate impacts.

Meanwhile, Gallinari has been limited to one summer-league game and 11 minutes over the first two games of the regular season before the Knicks shut him down indefinitely due to recurring back pain.

"It's tough," Gallinari said. "It's been six months. Being a basketball player, injuries happen. I just have to recover from it. I have to come back and be better than I was before."

Gallinari met with back specialists in November, and the consensus was that with therapy he could return this season. Surgery has been ruled out. However, there are concerns that the 20-year-old has yet to recover from an injury he suffered in July.

"Every day is different," he said. "One day I can feel worse. One day I can feel better."

Gallinari moved well during Friday's high-intensity scrimmages, but his game looked particularly rusty. The plan for Gallinari is the same for Eddy Curry - gradually work them back into the lineup and let them earn their playing time.

"It's a double-edged sword," D'Antoni said. "We'll try to do the best we can. We'll get them out there when they are productive."

"I'm feeling better in my mind because I'm feeling better," Gallinari said after working up a heavy sweat in a competitive four-on-four run. "The confidence is coming back, the confidence that I will be back. It's getting better."

Euro?

To be clear, the playing personality of the versatile 6'11 Herb Williams isn't a bad template for Gallinari to study

We should know by mid-March whether this kid can play or not. Curry's fat a** is not going to be able to stay healthy, so DG should get a consistent 15-20 minutes a game once he gets his wind and timing down.

Oasis - I can appreciate your feeling like Charlie Brown running up to the football but what specifically, other than the injury, has you concerened about Gallinari?

Pro athletes get injured all the time. Danilo's misfortune is that he was/is injured at the start of his NBA career. Can he recover fully? Backs are tricky things. Who knows?

With that said - injury aside - what is his greatest rookie challenge?
