I don't agree with being vindictive and releasing Marbury after March 1st. I think that's unprofessional and bad business.

I don't think the Knicks should cut him right now either, because they might still be able to make a push for the playoffs and allowing Marbury to join the competition could be a bad move. I think the Knicks should hold on to Marbury for now unless he agrees to take a pay cut. If he doesn't (which seems to be the case) then I think the Knicks should waive him after the team has officially decided that playoffs is out of the picture and started tanking, and after the trade deadline.

If allowing Marbury to join an eastern conference rival doesn't matter because we're not competing this season, and there's no chance of a trading him for something of value than there's no reason for us to hold on to him.

Agreed. We should not be vindictive(although I won't shed a tear if things don't work out for him). We should hold onto the peace, just in case. If we haven't gotten anything by the trade deadline, or he hasn't accepted a buyout on our terms, then you let him go. Although I also understand the position of the company, where they would rather pay a guy 22 mill to sit and do nothing than to pay him 22 mill to play for someone else.

I dont call holding on to Marb vindictive, I call it not helping your competitors.

He is selfish and has been his entire career. Could he have helped this team greatly this year, of course.

We won 23, 33 and 23 games with Marbury on the roster and in the line up. Why do you think we would win more with him here this year?

Because this year was gonna be different. This was the year Marbury was going to mature and not play selfishly. This was the year when Marbury wouldn't be "All Alone". This was the year when he wouldn't scowl and brood. This was the year when he wouldn't undermine the confidence of his teammates. This was the year when he wouldn't hide under towels on the bench when he wasn't playing. This was the year when Larry Brown wouldn't be holding him back. This was gonna be a turn around year because Isiah was gone. This was the year....

All the other years he didn't have any help, but..........He had help now!!! He would have had Jared Jeffries on one side and a right-hand, northpaw on the other side. We'd be thinking he was shooting left, but he's really shooting right, and you can't beat that. We would have definitely done better than last year. Donnie made a power move.

The norm is for player to accept a 6% discount to buy your freedom. YOu can have the money or you can play.

3 million. Thats the price. I don't think the players union really would have a problem with the knicks. THey are fulfiling their contract. Marbury wants to be free?, then what has been the norm? Compromise.

You know what, I don't care about how unprofessional it would be to cut him on March 2. I want him off the Knicks and I want him done dirty. He's a POS and he's a huge reason why the Knicks have straight up stunk in recent years. Eff Stephon Marbury

Walsh keeps impressing me with his patience. He has no reason to rush into buying out Marbury's contract or trading it. If he releases Marbury after March 2 it is not because he is vindictive. He would only do this if he can't trade Marbury and Marbury refuses to negotiate a buyout that would benefit the Knicks enough to allow them to release him despite the fact that he might hurt the Knicks this season. The March 2 date is Walsh's trump card. Marbury is not playing for the Knicks. He is of no value to the Knicks after the March 2. He will be released so that the Knicks can use his roster spot.
