Yeah, just open him up and cut something. That should do the trick. What kind of surgery do you suggest? Which level should doctors be working on from your interpretation of imaging and clinical exam?

Its funny how all these doctors cant see whats painfully obvious. He needs some sort of surgery. If hes not healing, he needs surgery. I called it over the summer that they should just give him the surgery then and get it over with.

Maybe Walsh should have drafted you with the 6th pick- sounds like your back is better than Gallo!

I was attacked by in September for stating what Gallinari stated about his back. He said that he was told that this was a problem he will have because he has a bad back and will need to do back exercises for the rest of his career. I basically said he has permament bad back that will only feel better after long periods of rest. I was jumped on because I asked how can someone with a bad back withstand 82 games and in that reasoning he is a draft bust because he is damaged goods. Nothing reported today has changed that opinion.
Comparing your back situations to his is ridiculous because you aren't expected to compete in a grueling schedule like he will be asked to. He is resting now but more than likely as soon as he plays extended minutes won't the situation begin to get worse again.
I don't expect to hear Walsh admit the error until 2 or 3 more years down the road ala Jonathan Bender.

He's been on a permanent "will reevaluate in 2 to 4 weeks" schedule ever since July. It never changes. After all this time either go get surgery or retire.
Alright, I'll start the parade of doom.
Gallouch.
Do you think you can rebuild in NY? Cause your patience level suggests otherwise.
I am quite patient about this rebuilding process. On the other hand bad games will still upset me so I'm still going to react to them. Reading that Gallo is still hurt is certainly grating on my nerves because every two weeks we hear he's getting better and is two weeks away. They've been saying that since July. It has not changed.
That is frustrating. Can't I be frustrated with his complete lack of progress and seeming lip service from our team about the situation? I don't see where patience should play into talking about Gallo. Maybe it's just me but you draft a player with the hopes he will play. Either get surgery or get sent home until next season. Then I wouldn't even care if they just said he's done for the year. This 2 weeks thing is the annoying part.
Anyways this has nothing to do with patience and I am the last person on this board that wants us to go back to doing what Isiah did here all these years. I'm a huge advocate of tearing down this roster and then building it back up. I've said numerous times we won't even start building the new team until July of 2010.
So I really had a hard time understanding why you think I'm impatient with either Gallo or Walsh.
well, take everything with a bit more grain of salt I guess. Just also note: Walsh and/or MDA haven't really given the 2 week deadline every 2 weeks. That's just false. Gallo hurt himself in preseason, made a little of a comeback and actually played minutes, probably rushed back cause he was out again, and now is only a very long timetable to make sure it's right. Could be 2 weeks, could be longer.
If you have never had major surgery before, as Bonnie has suggested in another post, you just don't get surgery to get surgery cause something is wrong; the best thing to do is wait, and waiting could be 2 weeks and could mean otherwise. Surgery is ALWAYS the last option.
Our media is FORCED to report every little aspect of everything cause it's NY, that means if MDA is asked about Gallo and says "we'll see in a couple of weeks", Berman is going to see if he has anything Marbury related and if he doesn't will post something like "Coach says Gallo will be back in 2 weeks" which is not actually 100% what we need to hear.
This is exactly right Martin. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Guys, just for you who are saying to just get surgery cause it isn't getting better... If the MRI showed that surgery was needed they would have done it. But backs are tricky and sciatica trickier. You see the pain might not be coming from the bulge. If the disc is pushing on the nerve surgery would slice a piece of the disc away, weakening it temporarily. I wouldn't risk that as a first option with a physical player such as Gallo (yes, he plays physical for those calling him soft.) Surgery is often a 50/50 thing, which is why Dr. Sarno looked into other causes. (The mind). When my back was hurt every doctor I saw wanted surgery. When I went to physical therapists they all wanted me to work on the opposing muscles. I didn't go to a psychologist but do you see where this is going?
Gallo's back might not be the root cause of the problem. I don't understand why management doesn't send him to one of the best in the world regarding this. This is very frustrating for all of us, but everyone is thinking surgery is the only way. The body heals quickly in young people, discs included (mine healed in my 30's, late exception) but if after 6 months it's still going on, I say they need to look at other causes (E.G. - stress and the mind).
I've said it before, I had a 10mm ruptured disk and healed it without surgery and now I can weightlift, play football, do whatever I want. I had to relax the muscles which removed pressure on the disk. One alternative physical therapist also told me about that, so it wasn't just Dr. Sarno (his book actually).
Have hope, EMS
