Get rid of Curry and Jefferies??? C'mon now, you have to hop on that even if it means parting with Lee. Need a draft pick tho. Got to be bogus.

The Eric Gordon stuff is depressing. I really hope we didnt blow the '08 draft. I'm trying to stay level headed on this.

I'll just add this in general to anyone who does NOT think JJ/Curry/Lee for Miller/Salmons is a good deal for the future.

With JJ/Curry gone, you GUARANTEE that the Knicks can sign 2 max free agents during the 2010 offseason; it's a lot of eggs in one basket, but why not shoot for the moon. You also get back a super solid 2-way shooting guard at low cost.

Your projected 2010 roster would be:

Gallo 3.3M
2009 pick 3.0M
Wilson 2.1M
Nate 6.0M
Salmons 5.8M
Duhon 7.0M
FA#1 17M
FA#2 15M
-------------------------
59.4M

Nice visual there. If the trade did happen then management needs it at the press conference at all the pissed off Lee fans. Really, that puts into perspective how little money we have for a supporting cast.
If Salmons is a good defender and can score then maybe it's not terrible, cause I just don't see how we are going to afford Lee and get two max free agents. Perhaps a 1st round pick to us would be the deciding factor.

It might be a lot easier and we could get better value for Lee to work on separate deals. Someone will bite on Curry. Jeffries I'm not so sure about. Management has there work cut out for them but they already did the impossible. Remember, it is waaaay easier to trade an athletic (albeit fat) center in a center deprived league than a max me first SF.

Eric Gordon is a great shooter but Gallo is right up there. It's just going to take some time to get him back 100% healthy (I hope). Gallo can be special, he has a very high bball IQ and the injury was not there when we picked him (differing reports, ok). He is also the type of player that makes those around him better. Gordon is performing well but I haven't heard people talking about him in that way.

Im coming to grips with letting go of Lee.

We fear what we cannot see, so what we look like in two years is not available.

If we can clean house then so be it. WE blowing it up.

I'll let Walsh figure it out. I don't know what he will do but I like many of the options presented the last few days.

I think you underestimate Salmons big time, he is not a wash with JJ.

Salary wise I meant... both are 2011s at ~5-6M per.

If the cap is $65 mil (the number thrown out there most often), then we'll have another $6 mil to play with too. Just dreaming of the best case scenario.

They get lots of salary relief we get a pick.

The good news in all these crazy rumors is that there actually sounds like there's a market for Curry. I'm more optimistic than ever that we'll get rid of him.

oh ok, then I will hammer you on the second part of the sentence. JJ is OK on defensive side but a liability on the O side; Salmons is a solid 2-way starter.

Chad is only FRAUD if he doesn't present something advantageous to the Knicks, otherwise he's a constant reference for a Horizon. I can't believe fans pay attention to anything he says.

you guys don't think SAC is getting value? BMiller ain't doing anything for them and they have a crunch at SG with Martin and Garcia. JJ is not the best but he plays D and Curry is an X factor. Lee would fit well with them.

i want more in a trade than just cap space if i'm trading D Lee... i like Miller but he's not likely gonna be here in 2010, & while Salmons at his salary is a great value, i still think we need to get back at least a good pick or young player w/some potential to be a significant part of this team in 2010 & beyond if we give up our best trade chip.

I'm a big big big fan of John Salmons! Believe it or not the dude can play point and very well cuz he was doing it last season. Very good player. I'd like to compare him to Crawford......he's just as good but he's more for the team. He becomes a top notch scorer when guys go down due to injury and he defers nicely when the options come back.

I think you all need a reality check with David Lee.....he's not worth risking the future of the Knicks.....he's already worth 7-10 mill a year. What happened to 2010? I think Amare and Bosh are way better than David Lee......if this trade could go down the Knicks have a shot at getting one of them.

Guys like to look at stats to start arguments.....Salmons stats are very good and he has the fg% to match. I'm sure youtube has footage of him......this guy is a good player. He can start come off the bench...it doesn't matter to him.

Miller is whatever you say he is.....he still plays and sees the floor better than any big man in the league. He still gets you 8-9 rebs. D'antoni needs a center to step out pass and shoot...wtf is the problem?

Massive trade here.....salmons and Brad Miller? Wow....and Miller could probaly be resigned as well for cheap when his contract is up.

If it has legs this must happen!!!

if we can at least get SAC's 2nd rd. pick in this deal i would go for it... that pick will likely be 1 of the first in the 2nd round so almost like getting back a late 1st rounder.

Salmons is a very good and polished NBA player. He's under athletic, but does everything well. He's worked hard and has become a good player, but he's peeking bigtime and his team isnt very good. I am fine with trading Lee but he's a 15/11 player in a rookie contract. You MUST get both young talent and pick(s) back.

exactly and when you talk about brad miller. He is useless, completely useless... this is another dumb azz rumor... geez..

That is one messed up deal for us. No way I give DLee for Miller and Salmons.

the key is you'd rid yourself of curry and jeffries' contracts to end up being major league players in the 2k10 FA sweepstakes.

I overstand that but we would need a prospect and or a first round pick in that deal aswell.

I dunno.. i like the prospect of having room for 3 Max guys. This deal makes that possible. Of course, the other 10 players would have to be paid the minimum but so what. Bron, Wade, Bosh '10!
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

it doesn't really give us the cap space for 3 max guys since Salmons' contract extends into 2010 at midlevel dollars... more like 2 max guys & another 2nd tier guy... so we could feasibly at least make offers to Lebron, Bosh & Nash all at the same time in 2010... doesn't mean they'd take them obviously but at least we'd be a major player in that bidding... give those 3 an opportunity to play together u gotta think that idea would appeal to them.
