i dunno what kinds of real possibilities actually exist, but i've been proposing trade ideas for guys like Al Harrington & Brad Miller for years... 1 of them we got in a trade this year & the other is the topic of some trade rumors right now... there may or not be something there but most of the times it seems these rumors are just that, rumors... it's always fun to discuss them tho (at least it is for me).

right now, i think these are the guys that i think we should be keying on for trade possibilities (just MHO):

Brad Miller
Marcus Camby
Jerryd Bayless (only if we can trade Nate)
Javaris Crittenton
Marco Bellinelli
John Salmon
Etan Thomas
Deandre Jordan

Brad Miller too late and too old
Marcus Camby soon as he steps back on the Garden court he will be lost for the season to a mysterious injury
Jerryd Bayless (only if we can trade Nate)
Javaris Crittenton Should have stayed in college, now he will be lucky to be a NBA journeyman. Omar Cook says hi.
Marco Bellinelli
John Salmon
Etan Thomas No. Hell no.
Deandre Jordan

I am fine with your list but made some modifications. Throw in Anthony Randolph too.

TMS, those all look like better moves (to me anyway) and whose to say that Walsh doesn't have many irons in the fire...it just seems curious to me that Walsh is making this trip to OKC. He seems old fashioned in that he might want to see a player with his own eyes or sit down with aGM and discuss things face to face. This would lead me to believe that he could be serious about making a deal with OKC if they can find a match. OKC has madeit known that except for a couple of players, they will move anyone for pieces that fit their future needs...much like us....and they do have several expiring contracts.

it all depends on the packages u get those guys in... if u can get guys like Miller, Camby & Etan on 2010 salary dump trades, it's a no brainer... if u can get Javaris as a throw in on a deal, it's a no brainer... the kid has talent & very good size at the PG position... i don't think he's the next Omar Cook.

i think Walsh is just doing due diligence & scouting as many players as possible so he can explore possibilities at the trade deadline... i have a feeling he's gonna attend the game to see if Earl Watson might be a possible solution to the backup PG need we have right now... personally i'm not crazy about Watson at all but the Knicks have been rumored to be interested in him in the past.

maybe Damien Wilkins & Earl Watson for Malik Rose & Anthony Roberson? it would save OKL $10 mil next season if they made a deal like that, & both Watson & Wilkins expire before 2010 so they could help to fill some holes on this roster w/o hurting us longterm... i think OKL is basically tanking this season anyways so they can get a better shot at Blake Griffin, their hometown OKL Sooner, so losing out on talent won't be as much of a concern for them... it's not like Watson or Wilkins are players that factor into their longterm plans anyways.

the gm of okc is a buford disciple in san antonio. the chances they are interested in curry is slim and none. also, that's the last time you'll see the words "curry" and "slim" in the same sentence.

The chances of Curry becoming a good rebounder and defensive player are between slim and none.

Ira, you just used the "slim" word with Curry. It's like an oxymoron.

Rookie, you may have hit the nail on the head. Walsh is traveling with the team to evaluate players on the other teams for trade talks. I think that is right on. And Westbrook is who we have wanted during the draft. Remember the almost trade of Lee to Memphis to get their pick which we hoped would be either Mayo or Westbrook.

Now we can trade Lee for Westbrook with other pieces added to balance it out.

we'd have to give them something they want more than they want Westbrook. Would you give up Lee and Chandler to dump Jeffries and get Westbrook and Smith's expiring? They will have enough room next year to re-sign Lee. Im not sure if they could trade Lee in their pursuit of Griffin on draft day. I guess it really depends if Donnie wants Westbrook for the future, 2010 and beyond. It's really just speculation on my part

Westbrook had an excellent game last night. Overall he is playing well for a rookie. (Walsh went there before the game so there could have been some interest from OK.) However, the Thunder, with Durant, Green, and Westbrook, are still the worst team in the league. They need to add some players/shake things up???? Who knows. But Walsh has been speaking with every GM in the league since day 1 to try to make trades. He is continuing that.

This is what interests me about Walsh going on the road trip with the team. It looks like Dallas is looking t move a few players also. Howard is in the doghouse and Stackhouse has been disgruntled. We could do a Marbury and Nate, or Marbury and Lee for Howard, Stackhouse and Williams. Dallas would get a veteran starting SG in Marbury and help off of the bench in either Nate or Lee. We would get a some expiring depth and a good young NBA player/possible future allstar at the SG position and Howard could score pot fairly easy in NY

I agree that there are many possible trades and Walsh is exploring them. However, they aren't even at rumor stage yet....just conjecture. But the possibilities are there. I'm hoping we can get something done soon. I think the trade rumors are starting to hurt the team.

All I'm saying is that it' curious that Walsh decided to go on 'this' road trip when we are visiting teams that have made it known that they have players that they will move. I believe it's also known that we are in a rebuild mode and are looking to deal. I'm sure that we could all agree that Josh Howard would look good in a Knicks uniform

This from another thread:

"Colengelo admitted that he has had frequent conversations with the Mavericks about a lot of different scenarios - including potential three-team deals - but that he would not be willing to include Bargnani in any such deal.

So while it's clear that the Mavericks are anxious to move Josh Howard, it appears the talk of the Raptors being involved are exaggerated at best."

Is the first shoe about to drop. If this has legs, it has to be more than Rose for watson
http://www.theknicksblog.com/2009/01/07/rose-for-earl-watson/

"Finger point to Gym Rat lonman for emailing me that he heard Gus Johnson on the radio that he heard rumors of a possible deal that would send Malik Rose’s expiring to Oklahoma City for reserve point guard Earl Watson.

After a google search I noticed it was only being discussed in certain forums, nothing published. I haven’t heard this one but it makes plenty of sense.

Watson makes 6.6 million dollars in the last year of his contract, which is next season.

We’ve been talking a lot about how Chris Duhon’s game has slipped of late and I sense some dead legs. I totally respect Duhon’s efforts thus far, but he’d be much more effective playing in that 30-35 minute range.

Did anyone else hear this on the radio?"

yeah, i posted that i thought Walsh was there to scout Earl Watson yesterday... the Knicks have been interested in him for a while now... Watson & Damien Wilkins for Malik's expiring & Roberson would fill our needs for a backup PG & give us more depth at the SG position... we still wouldn't have a starting calibre SG so this deal isn't the ideal but it doesn't hurt our 2010 flexibility so it's a deal i can picture Walsh looking to make.
