ESPN, just mentioned that the Kings were looking to get out from under the conrtact of Kenny Thomas who is owed 9 million next season. Brad Miller is making 12 million this year, and 13 next. The Kings want to get rid of salary. I wonder if they would do the following.

Brad Miller/Kenny Thomas/1st Round Pick for Marbury. It would save them 20 million off the cap next season and allow them to make a run at a free agent and save them 20 million dollars next year. I think the deal is somewhat feasible; and essentially be buying a lottery pick for 20 million.

Thomas, obviously will rarely play, but it gives us some depth at the center position with Curry and Miller who fits in perfect into the system and will be a nice trading asset next year.

Why do we want to save the Kings money?

Why would Dolan want to pay an additional 40M dollars next season when he won't have to after Marbury expires this season?

How would Brad Miller and Kenny Thomas help anything here in any way?

If we're taking back the Kings trash, even if it expires in 2010, then they're taking back our trash, all 2011 of it.

Otherwise, no thanks.

If another team really wanted Steph that bad or wanted to dump contracts for him, he'd be gone by now.

why wouldn't a team re-evaluate as the season goes on and decide to re-tool after seeing that their roster wasn't working?

We traded an expiring contract and brought in Rose at 16 million dollars. Rondo and Lowry should have been drafted instead of Balkman, I think you would take either right now, reaching for second round talent by a bad gm is not an excuse to not do the deal if they offer their lottery pick.

We would be doing it for the Kings pick not the Rockets and if we could get a lottery talent why not. Lopez went 10th this year you wouldn't take a player like that?

I think the deal makes sense if they take back Curry in the process

Jalen Rose?

Them days are over....and thank god.

We still have that 2nd rounder we traded Balkman for right? The final price tag on that thing is around 50M dollars.

Let's let Curry get a little time in the offense and get his wind back. We gave up two lottery picks and for the guy, would like to see if we can build his value, there is a season and a half to do it.

meh, if we can straight up dump him I'm for it. The lotto picks are sunk costs and I have no faith in the fat P.O.S. The Knicks are in straight salary dump mode and if they can get rid of his huge behind, the team is in position to land two premiere UFAs in 2010. If they're going to sell me "2010 or bust", might as well shoot for the moon

Because it's not that easy with a guy like Steph. If it were that easy, the Knicks wouldn't be in this position. If it was Stephon Marbury with the talent and expiring contract but without the quotes, Youtube outbursts, weird interviews, tattooed head, coach killing and locker room cancer reputation, he'd be in Oakland, Miami, Orlando, Houston, Boston, Dallas or Phoenix by now. Hell, he might even be playing for the Knicks. The guy has basketball talent and skill. He can play the game. It's everything else that's a problem.

It's a lot easier for a GM to take a risk with the vet minimum than it is with $20 mil or whatever the balance on his deal is. Not every owner is Jim Dolan. If/when Steph is released, he'll be sought after, but I doubt, just from speaking to people around the league, that he will be as sought after in a trade by the deadline.

Still LOL at the Isiah inspired talk of "expired contract assets" that was going on around here for so long. What a joke. The guy's a con artist...

This is one of those lateral deals that doesn't really help anyone.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

that would be a dream trade for cap purposes... i don't see it happening tho, but if the Kings put that one on the table the Knicks would be absolute fools not to jump on it.
