This past weekend I had the oddest thing happen to me. I was walking in the park. I walked by this tree. I heard what I thought was smooching. I look up and yup....you guessed it.......TMS and Jamal were in the tree.

Seems like what's making this discussion difficult is that we appear to be using different definitions of a "finisher."

Is it the person with the nastiest dunks or receiving alley-oops?

Then guys like Kemp, Camby, K-Mart and maybe Dwight Howard fit.

Is it the person with the widest array of moves that are most likely to end with success (score or get fouled while shooting) when going to the hoop?

Then guys like Wade, James, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq and perhaps even Lee or other high FG% guys that can score near the hoop fit

Is it the player who can most easily generate his own shot to score?

Then it's many of the same guys above, or even a guy like Crawford. Yet he is not as good when near the basket at "finishing" as he is when away from it.

Is it the player who is the best at finishing games?

Again, Jamal could get some votes, but of course someone like Jordan will dominate this category.

Is it the player who best handles receiving a pass in an offense, or on a break, and ends with success going to the basket or helping his teammates?

Worthy and Lee are guys that do this very well.

The obvious point being there are various ways we can look at "finishing."

I think Allan Houston was one of the best finishers in basketball on the break. He used to attack the basket like an animal. And by animal, I mean sissy.
