I agree TKF no way he does Sergio or sergio and a pick.

If they get into discussions a third team HAS to be involved.

TD

walsh just needs to tell teams, be ready to ante up big, or we will just resign lee. If we move lee, I want a young up and comming player, a pick and dump a contract like Jeffries... that is the price....

I'd want a king's ransom. Or as Dj says, lets dump contracts. Can they trade LaFrentz while injured?

Check it out:

Raef LaFrentz, Channing Frye and Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez for Lee, Jeffries and Curry.

why do they do this though....the only thing wrong is the eddy curry involvement...greg oden, curry?

Depends on how badly they want Lee. They are not giving up a lot in that deal outside of Fernandez...they don't use the other guys. I would guess Curry is more likely a candidate to be flipped in a 3 way trade assuming there is some interest out there? Does Charlotte get involved here? How about being re-routed to Charlotte straight up for Gerald Wallace? Does that help make Portland a contender this year?

now you are talking....Gerald to Portland makes sense cuz they are trying to get his production out of outlaw and Batum....

Yeah so I'm bout to go burn some incense and kill some chickens in an attempt to make the basketball gods come through with a trade like this for the Knicks.

I cant think of a better fit for New York. Segio shoots 38% from the field and below 30% on three that would be the perfect addition. If he cant beat out Steve Blake is he really a championship type point guard

Sergio Rodriguez is back up player and David Lee is playing like an all star--sounds fair. Yes and throw in Channing Frye as well

More like Bayless Outlaw Rodriguez and two number 1 picks for Rose and Lee. I want a premium package for Lee or I will just sign him long term. I would never do Rodriguez Webster and Frye--that is absurd

You beat me to it BRIGGS. I'm not sold on Rodriguez. I'd rather take Bayless in a package along with Outlaw. Lee is putting up allstar numbers. I'm not trading Lee for backups. We already have a team full of backups. I need a young propect (Bayless) a draft pick or another young propect (Webster or Outlaw...BTW Webster hasn't played all year so they wont be missing anything from him) and preferably a salary dump (Jeffries)....As BRIGGS said, Rodriguez and Frye is not nearly enough.

ok I'm a genius!!!!

3 team trade:

Portland trades Webster, Channing, Diogu, Sergio and a 1st round draft pick to NY
Portland recieves Wallace and David Lee

Charlotte trades Wallace.
Charlotte recieves Eddy Curry

NY trades David Lee and Eddy Curry
NY gets Diogu, Channing, Webster, Sergio and a first round draft pick!!!

"I must be the greatest" - Ali

explaination....

Portland becomes elite....
Charlotte becomes a true Larry Brown team....
Knicks get cap space with Channing and Diogu coming off the books next year....in the meantime the Knicks can stay compeditive this year and possibly be able to sign someone next year and still sign 2 peeps in 2010.

Rodriguez is a very good passing point guard who can't shoot. He's averaging 14.5 minutes a game this season and still is shooting well under 40% from the field. If we do a deal with Portland, the guy we should be looking for is Rudy Fernandez.

We could trade Dlee next year. No rush, unless Portland make is so worth our while.

Walsh is in the drivers seat with this one.

Eddys worthless now.

Several sources with knowledge of the situation have told TKB that the Portland Trailblazers are getting serious about trading for David Lee.

Blazers ownership thinks Lee is the perfect 6th man, who will be 26 in April and can be part of their long term plans. As we know Lee has leverage because he doesn’t have to sign with a team he is traded to, but playing in Portland with their young core would be very attractive.

2 things to add:

1) Does anyone think that all of the Denver and Portland and Charlotte rumors means either someone within the Knicks org or just outside of it is leaking? In a good way?

2) Follow-up from Tommy from his own blog comment section:
This was the post from gym rat Bathija who apparently has serious ties to the Clips/

I haven’t been able to confirm this from my clippers source yet…

…the trade will send Marcus Camby and Channing Frye back to the Knicks along with Deandre Jordan from a trade exception, Jerryd Bayless and Jason Hart.

The Trail Blazers will receive David Lee and Anthony Roberson from the Knicks and Brian Skinner and Ricky Davis from the Clippers.

The Clippers will receive Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose and Sergio Rodriguez. One source has said the trade should be complete by next week. All salaries/.roster spots work out for all teams….

dude, you need to settle down. Seems to me you haven't been following either the AP or The Knicks Blog, which has broken several rumors that panned out (and some which have not). PS, not sure the AP actually reports their own rumors BTW.

I think they consider him a core player. Unless you get a very promising big man + pick any trade like this could backfire. Everyone is underestimating David Lee. I want a huge package including a young big man or I would rather just keep him. It sounds like some people are happy with trading Lee and Randolph for Tim Thomas Channing Frye and Sergio Rodriguez. Sorry but unless Lebron James told Mike D that he is coming to NY--those are insane type trades.

That is very interesting.

NY Recieves: Camby, Frye, Jordan, Bayless, Hart
NY Trades: Lee, QRich, Malik

That's a very good package. I hope that source is right. I wonder why the Clippers are making this trade though?

(1) I think it's always of practice, and usually good at that, to make it seem as if multiple teams are calling about a player(s) you're looking to trade. Sometimes other teams bite on the false chatter and call you up with a real offer. So I think it's possible. Yet, Lee has been on the rumor mill for months and months and all the teams involved were at one time tied to him so is there some truth to it? Maybe. Of course, what team wouldn't want David Lee? So then there's that too. David Lee to (ANYWHERE) is an instantly valid rumor.

(2) Alright, now Tommy is really on the sauce. Irish Coffee perhaps? I certainly wouldn't be opposed to such a blockbuster that does nothing but help the Knicks in a huge way but someone give me a shout when it's legit. Too-Good-To-Be-True. The only thing it's missing is Jeffries and/or Curry being unloaded to a fourth team.

But you usually see stuff like this across the board. And I haven't seen it. It's usually bigger rumors going around and I don't put too much vested interest in one blog, site of whatever. But if you say it's out there, then I'll go look to see what I can find. I just can't believe they'd want to get rid of Lee. And I never understood why so many here want him gone.
I'll never trust this' team again.

A deal of Channing Frye, Rudy Fernandez, and a 1st round pick for Lee and a 2nd round pick would be ideal for me. Channing will probably fit in well with MDA's offense and I think Fernandez can be a star SG in this league. I wish we still have Collins or Balkman and we could include them in the deal to sweeten it a little. We definitely should be looking at Fernandez. Rodriguez is good but he is not a star player. Fernandez is an allstar in the making.
