I don't mind the losses, in fact I love the losses because it gets us closer to an even better lottery pick

that is exactly how u need to look at this season IMO... we shouldn't be focused on building for anything except for cap flexibility in 2010 & hopefully better positioning for the draft this year... any thing else in terms of Wins is a bonus.

The Knicks won 23 games last year. They were not that good. They traded away their two best players to get cap space. They are on schedule to win 10 games more than the previous year despite all of the transitions. Losing alot should not be a surprise. When you add two players, Chris Duhon and an injured rookie, you cannot expect a huge jump in the win column.

This team scks. Do 20 point drubbings by Milwaukee and Minnesota at home say anything--who cares if we win 10-20-30--we sck. In this league youd rather sck worse it's to your benefit--most of these players will not be part of the team going forward--this team needs a final flush--wins do not matter any more--losses are what will help this franchise.

No s**t.

I was beginning to worry we'd make the playoffs this year.

We got to get Gallo his minutes and develop him.

We are like no. 8 in lotto. We got to fall.

Im not saying tank, but play the utes and let them grow.

Me too, but they usually quit at this time of the year so its "back to business as usual" for the Knicks.

Danillo will be back soon, so thats great!

Curry too, so he will be traded by the deadline! Hopefully along with Jeffries.

it's probably easier to take if you look at the knicks as a very bad expansion team...

Exactly, except we are an expansion team that had Jared's and Eddy's contracts forced upon us.

I don't know why everyone is all up in arms, we don't have any good players. Why would you expect us to win?

it just is what it is... DW moved the two biggest contracts to make room. Those were guys we werent going to win titles with. Those were also two guys that are pretty easy to replace. I mean if we really want them back go trade for Michael Redd and Carlos Boozer.

We need good young talent and the flexibility to add it in a variety of ways.

people said I was crazy when I said the team downgraded its talent with those trades... eye on the prize, remember 2010, blah blah blah. I'll always remember this year as sacrificing the first decent team the Knicks have had since 2001 for capspace. This plan better work... if things aren't turned around by then, things'll have been so bad I won't be the only one contemplating resigning my Knicks fandom... and I actually stuck around and was active during the lowest of the lows. Imagine if this plan fails and the people that aren't "active" fans but more than casual fans...

yup.

When you look at it, Minnesota should definitely beat us. They have the best player on either of the two teams in Al Jefferson and they have much better talent overall. They SHOULD win.

We need to have talent and the only way to do it is by tearing it down and starting back up. It's not that hard to comprehend really.

This team is not built to win. This team is not built at all. This team is being broken to be rebuilt. Have some patience NYK3. I am sure you will be happy with the finished product.

This whole team "are" a bunch of bums?

I are ready to see David Lee replaced at power forward/center as he are a defensive liability. Fix the 4/5 and you fix the Knicks.

My plan would be to keep the two salary restricted players Gallinari and Chandler + resign Nate and be open to trading ANYONE else in the right deal. I would be VERY VERY aggressive with the ending contract of Malik Rose and again take a serious look at any deal for ANY player-the 3 above that included picks or promising prospects. I want to build a new team and then have the cap space as a an additional avenue to help the team--not hoping for a home run[unless it is there]

I would love to work on Utah to get our pick back from next year taking advantage of the fact that they are bleeding cash and are already over the cap by far next year. I think it is VERY important to try to get that pick back.

I don't care if we win one more game this year--I really don't--it DOES not help us. We have to challenge and get into position to have a realistic chance at the top pick and a top 3-5 pick if 1 is not there. Marc Cuban is right--being in the middle is the WORST place to be. The dya we traded Zach and Crawford was the day we gave up on this season--so if they were willing to tank it from game 11--even TRYING we still are 5-12 since the deals.

Now we need to find out what teams might want a Duhon or a Harrington or a Lee--perhaps work on Utah with Rose's ending contract for our pick back. If we can purge out the roster even more--when Curry actually comes back--we can highlight him even more

The bottom line is you do something--you do it right all the way and then has to be the mentality. This half arse stuff doesnt get you anywhere. Instead of hoping we get Lebron James and throwing all of the eggs in the basket--we should be VERY aggressive trying to rebuild the team on our own

I truly believe I am correct here--that this should be the plan. Unless their goal is medicority--they have to accept we have to sck and TRY very hard to get that pick back from Utah.

I see no reason to be so harsh on the team when we all know what is going on here. It's time for Knick fans to show the patience they said they'd have if we tried to reboot this team. I think the team has for the most part played their butts off. With the exceptions of a few games they've played hard and have defended harder than they've shown against the Bucks and yesterday against the Wolves. I look at that game as the exception and not the rule for how they've played. Let's not lose sight of that.

Poor team to begin with, Changes, Injuries and not enough players. This is all the result of preparations to redo this thing. After the way the Celtics did things, don't expect the Knicks to do what the Blazers did. We'll be somewhere in between. Some youth, but we'll look to buy stars and do the instant title contender thing. I think MDA and Walsh have more moves planned this year, so let's wait and see what happens.

Briggs - have you ever thought about applying to the Knicks for an internship?

You have passion and perspective. Guys have started with less and done more in such a career. With that said, any team that can hijack a high draft selection (from ANY franchise in this economy) will need more arrogance, creativity and stealth than a Pirate of The Caribbean.

nixluva - what you said.

The Knicks have no margin for error. In order to win, they must shoot nearly 50 per cent from the field, defend past their limitations and have the lungs of olympic marathoners.

Crying after every loss, or beaming after every win, is a waste of time as THIS is a work in progress. Donnie and Mike have not been in office for a full season and already the geniuses like Marc Berman gleefully assert the honeymoon is over.

The Honeymoon?

C'mon. That is merely a chicken-hearted call for mutiny to sell newspapers.

I don't think things are being done half arse. I think the fact that Walsh was able to move Crawford and Randolph says alot about Walsh. Last spring there were rumors that the Knicks would give up the 6th pick to move Randolph. Trading Crawford and his contract came out of nowhere and I think Walsh took advantage of a horrible situation in Golden State. My guess is that when D'Antoni signed with the Knicks he was told that he would have a team that he could compete with. Remember Mobley was going to be a big part of things here. I think he would have filled Crawford's spot nicely and he was a very good defensive player. I think now is a time to have a bit of patience with this organization. Things have sucked here for along time. I would expect Walsh to keep Rose and let his contract expire and come off the cap.

I disagree that having Zach and Craw on the team makes the team decent. If neither of the two trades were made this team is 2-4 games better, with 4 being pretty generous. I just hope Donnie Walsh is smart enough to forget this staying competitive nonsense and start fully tanking. That's the only thing that bothers me. I'm not upset about the trades because we weren't going anywhere with Chuckford, and Zbo anyway. but if we narrowly miss the playoffs this year, and don't get a good draft pick I'll be pissed. A good draft is what this franchise really needs to get back on track. 2010 alone won't cut it. rebuilding teams are generally built through the draft, not free agency.

Please PROVE that your plan is different from Walsh's. You talk as if you KNOW that it is, even though you do not.

if things don't pan out in 2010 we would have lost out on a .500 win team... no big loss.

This forum is getting as bad as RealGM, when it comes to the amount of turncoat fans, that pile up during a losing streak, they might as well have yellow streaks down their backs, they certainly don't deserve to wear the blue and orange that's for sure.
