NBA is entertainment in first place and sport after this.
People want to see exiting game not boring 90s Spurs-Knick battle (70-71).
Offense is the future on NBA and defense exists just to make offense look better under pressure.
Why we want other teams look better that they are?

I know we all miss those tough knick teams but those low scoring games were not always pretty to watch.

I Mike ball is fun to watch. Even when we lose. Thats somting isn't it? We can't win everygame and we rebuilding. I couldn't stand to watch IsiahBall and Marbury's sulking ways. Even when they won it was a misery.

We should thank Sarver for being impatient. He let us have Mike.

Cannot agree more. There are multiple ways to win in sport. Why not to take the exiting one over boring?
Plus the bbal market as such is not giving the opportunity any more to have decent organization if team is not produces entertaining show.

just an fyi...at the garden, there used to be a "de-fense" chant on the big screens for the fans to chant. now, there's an "of-fense" chant that comes up on the big screen. yup, that's right, "of-fense"...

If you're a NY basketball fan, that has to bother you.

I find it disgusting and the antithesis of the history of the NY Knicks.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Kevin Pritchard was recently asked what the biggest change he has seen in the NBA over the past year.

"We’re a league of mimics. We see what’s working and we try to mimic it. You see Boston with their great defense and then everybody wants to be a great defensive team. I come from a background where defense is very important. Right now every team is trying to figure out how they can put the best defensive players out there. I think that’s important.

"It’s amazing because for us in the West, I don’t feel like it’s changed at all. You’re going to have to get in the high 40’s to get in the playoffs. You can’t just win fifty percent of your games and expect to make it to the playoffs. Now the East, maybe you can, but not in the West. There are too many good teams. So in that instance, I don’t think anything has changed. You’ve got to be an upper-echelon team to get into the playoffs. And again, that’s our goal, so we know we’re going to have to get up there."

Pritchard was also asked about future free agent classes.

"What I don’t want to do is limit any of our thinking. Are we definite players in 2010? Who knows? A lot has to be done between now and then. What I do know is that I really like our team. I like our youth. You project out some of our guys like Nicolas, Bayless, Sergio, Rudy, Oden. What are they going to be in two or three years? They’re just cutting their teeth right now. I believe we have a chance to be pretty good for a long time. And that’s what we wanted. We want to have a chance to have a crack at the big games, the big playoff games down the line in two, three, four, five years. An elongated success. Hopefully we can do that."

Portland likes to shoot the 3-ball BTW but as KP stated defense is woven throughout the fabric of what they do.

We're better than we would have been with any other coach/GM combo that was available this year.

That's the bottom line to me.

We make it to the end of this year, even if LeBron resigns, you're going to be able to see the light on the horizon.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Honestly, I think our defense looks better this year than last. We obviously don't have any height to block shots, but overall, we look like a better defensive team than we were last year or the year before. That being said, we still are at best average and need to really improve. MDA is not a bad defensive coach, he just is not a defensive-minded coach.
