I would rather have a draft pick as well, but I ain't never been a "dreck for draft pick" advocate and my gut tells me NBA franchises are going to hold on tightly those precious (and inexpensive) rights as the economy slows down.

which is why i advocate the knicks going against the grain and become buyers in this market as they can afford to.

gallo is under a minimum contract for 3 more years. there's plenty of time to see if he can contribute.

All I know is D'Antoni will be here maybe one more year, if even. I'm starting to wonder what coach, GM, etc. in their right mind would want to come to something like this? The basic fan is root of all of our problems. I mean rooting for marbury to play in the first days was a sad sign of that. D'Antoni was all over that. What a fool I was. I can see the light now. The Knicks will never improve and we will never win. REALISTICALLY! We just weren't made to win and when you mix that with this' kind of fan, it's a done deal.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Why would we do that? That's a smart move and we don't do things like that.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The Answer Man Ponders The Same Question Which Has Baffled Scientists For Centuries: "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?"

4949 - "All I know is D'Antoni will be here maybe one more year, if even."

Cool. I was down with Mark Jackson anyway. But, I have news for the naysaying, nattering, naybobs of negativity. D'Antoni ain't going anywhere before 2011.

Q. 4949 - I'm starting to wonder what coach, GM, etc. in their right mind would want to come to something like this?"

A. I'm starting to wonder what fan would watch Knicks basketball night in and night out. Oh, hold up, a fearlessly loyal fan who heart doesn't pump diet Fresca.

4949 - What a fool I was.

A. Was?

4949 - We just weren't made to win and when you mix that with this' kind of fan, it's a done deal.

Please 4949 - speak for yorself when citing the type of "fan" you are. Please save your cryababy towel for later this evening when you are certain to need it.

One more thing: Please allow the door to fully close after your redundant threatened exit. It's the first day of Winter and we need to conserve energy.

And there you have it folks. A complete reflection of ALL of us! The complete idiocy guide to be a Knick fan for life. You fell into the trap, within the trap, within the trap of idiocy. You said it all just right dude and confirmed what I have been saying. Blind leading the blind. Future responses to my idiocy, a reflection of all' of our idiocies, will be a reflection of the entire idiocy in Knick kingdom. It pays to be losers in this fashion.

And your right on target about the conserving energy thing to.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Lee has no value because he is going to be a RFA. Why would a team trade for him when they can sign a offer sheet and the Knicks wont match. The reason Joe Johnson was a sign and trade he wanted out of phoenix.

We have no hope. Its ovah. Why root for the Knicks since Briggs and you have the future all defined and it looks horrible for NY.

Lets start asking the Knicks to buy the franchise, move it to another place and then we'll all be happy.

There is no way the Knicks get anything valuable in the future so why bother?

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Minnesota and New York being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Minnesota and New York had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Mike Miller expires in 2010 and would be a great piece in our offense and Kevin Love can take our David Lee's role

David Lee is a nice player. We enjoy the double-doubles and his determination against centers. I coveted david Lee from the moment he won the HS Slam Dunk Contest and smiled the moment Isiah Thomas drafted him to puzzled mass expressions of, "who's he?"

But the Knicks are on the cusp of a new era and the complex choice is simple. Apparently, Walsh (and D'Antoni) saw someting valuable in Danilo Gallinari. If their basketball instincts are true then Gallinari is penciled in at the spot where Quentin Richardson is currenly bricking out the joint.

Gallinari is inexpensive than Lee and is 6'10. Chandler is inexpensive and shows a willingness to play inside. He lacks experience and confidence. Al Harrington loves New York and demonstrates a passion to stick around when the gettin' gets good. Duhon is a leader. That's four.

There are glaring needs at the guard and big frontcourt (center) position. One spot (preferably a center) can be filled via the 2009 draft. The other spot can be filled by signing the best available free agent in 2010. That's six.

Either David Lee is determined to be indispensible - or - he is an expensive seventh man. From this opinion, there is less loyalty to Lee at center than may be felt in the stands because of his role in competition with a player (potentially) like Chris Bosh, Tyler Hanbrough or Cole Aldrich.

And I love David Lee.

I don't think that we have any players currently on the roster (including Lee) who are of any personal importance. The only important things are System and Culture. Both things are in the process of developing and progress looks good.
The players; and the wins/loses for this matter are irrelevant; and will be irrelevant for another 1-1.5 years.
If some fans think that the mess we have with NY bbal can be fixed in less that 2-3 years - they are fooling themselves.

are Lee's huge numbers playing the five really that good? He's numbers are being a bit inflated since he is the only rebounder on the team. Good yes that he can do it, but he reminds me of Kurt Thomas, only with hops, weaker D and without a lethal 13 footer.

I'm a huge Lee fan, but I was a huge KT fan as well. But I realize, they are in many ways, the same player.

arkrud - thank you

Walsh is simply laying the foundation for a series of deliberate moves, that will be made one at a time, to keep the Knicks moving forward. The imaginary GM/ Trader Vic's of the world will simply entertain themselves by fondling Trade Checker on a daily basis.

Footnote: Good to read that Gallinari's back is slowly healing. I look forward to seeing him in late February.
