My argument is sign Lee and one big time free agent, and then the extra money bring fills in the holes you have. The your guaranteed to have a player and not putting all your eggs in one basket to get 2 max free agents in 2010.

I want Lee to stay in NYC. He loves the city, he has done the right things, and I want him to be there when they turn the ship around. I also want him to get paid fair market value and nothing else. I just think it is easier to sign one max player than two and I want the Knicks to win. I have been a fan for four years and my head is about to explode I cant imagine what it is like for fans for the last 8 years.

dude, u realize how Lee gets his points on offense, don't u? do u think he creates his own shots like Chandler does or can take guys off the dribble on offense? Lee gets his shots created for him by others... he's a deluxe garbage points player man... & i didn't say he's got no offensive skills, that's ur words... u just said u think Lee will get 9 mil per & so did i... what are u arguing here?

in the thread title and for most of your argument you compare Lee to a center, and now you compare him to a (almost) rookie SF who sometimes guards SGs. Should we now compare Lee's second year #s to Wilson's?

If he wants to get greedy he should know he's hurting the Knicks chances of getting a guy who can turn Lee into a much bigger star. LeBron lifts all ships. Nobody knew who Mo Williams or Delonte West was (at least the casual fan didn't) before they joined the Cavs.

This is perfect for him. They can even do an almost 50 mil 5 year deal, starting at 7.5. But maybe it's worth giving him the extra year if we can push the first year down to 6. Same with Nate Robinson. Sign them both to 6 years with the main money coming at the end.

TMS just doesn't like David Lee. There's no convincing him.

That it takes skills to catch the ball and finish. It takes skills to makes the passes he makes. It takes offensive skills to score 14 points a game on limited shots in the NBA. Wilson Chandler get most of his shots setting up at the three point line or jumpers when he flares to the corner. WC doesnt break people off the dribble like Nate does or Harrington. Is it skilled to shoot 31% from the three vs finishing around the basket?

Watch the films, folks. Lee's a shadow defender at best, and more recently he's a whiner at worst.
And since when do you match center performance head to head? Did I miss something, or aren't they playing ZONE now in the NBA? Matching points and rebounds as a measure of how you are performing as a center is bullsheet. I guess Russell was a suhck-ass, since every center in the league outscored him.
Lee looked like a third grader (hey Bippity, Alanfan, don't start drooling) "guarding" Shaq. The Knicks have no center presence. Wake up people, Lee is not Oakley-lite. He scares no one defensively.

That said, I still think he's the best 4 we've had since Oak. which isn't saying a whole hell of alot, but sheeit, everything's relative. Including your mother. And your sister. And your dog and cat and those gerbils you know you got hiding in your colon.

Just tryin to fit in fellas...

Okay TMS get him 9 million a year so he can stay with the Knicks and win someday. I just think what Lee brings to this team is more valuable than anyone but Duhon and Harrington. I think since you didnt trade him in the summer your choices are get fleeced in a trade or sign him.

it's a tough choice Donnie's gonna have to make... does he keep D Lee or does he keep his options open for 2010? he'll still have Duhon & Harrington after this season & Chandler has been improving on both ends of the floor & MDA seems to like all 3 of those guys a lot... then there's also Nate Robinson to consider also... u can't feasibly keep all 4 of these guys & still have the cap space to sign even 1 bigname FA in 2010 much less 2... i don't think that's why Donnie cleared all the cap space... he wants a franchise stud & D Lee is not a guy u can build a team around no matter how much u or i would love to see him win as a member of this team... we gotta face reality & look at the big picture... i think Donnie's gonna trade D Lee this year w/o a doubt... i'd be shocked to see him here after this season right now.

Na it's OK because I didn't notice. I had to change my shirt b/c once I said David Lee has been playing better defense, I started drooling on it too much. Bip probably drooled all over Travis accidentally.

I agree that Lee you cant build around but a big time free agent isnt coming if you dont have a team around him. You dont build around 9 million dollar players. Like I said what I think willhappen is you will trade him for a lesser player or lose him for nothing
