Who the **** is Austin Daye?

He's Jared Jefferies long lost brother

He's lightyears better than Jared Jeffries right now, although I think he should stay in school another year and continue to develop. 6'10" but only about 200 lbs. Rail thin but very skilled - I think he'll prove to be Gonzaga's best player soon enough (I think he has a much higher ceiling than both Heytvelt and Pargo). I saw him last Sunday when Gonzaga played Arizona out in Phoenix (they had the game on FCS Pacific again this afternoon). Arizona pulled it out late, but Daye went for 22 pts., tying his career high, and had a few blocked shots on Jordan Hill inside throughout the game. During the game, the color announcer keep comparing him to Dirk Nowitzki - now I don't see that exactly - he's nowhere near as big and I don't think he'll be that type of franchise talent but you never know. He's really a tough one to compare to another player - to me, he's Tim Thomas/Keith Van Horn only with more big man tendencies (when I think of Timmy or Keith I think of a big SF all the way - this kid's more than that). He should be a more mobile/lighter/much better version of Juwan Howard only with more of a deep perimeter game if all goes right and he develops properly and puts on a some more weight - this kid can really shoot it well from deep for a big guy. Great touch. Physically, yeah I can see Jared Jeffries a little - think Jared Jeffries only with a ton more game on both sides of the ball. He could be a good one, but I don't think he's ready yet. Heytvelt and Pargo are both seniors so they're both gone - if he decides to stay in school, works on his body and takes over that Gonzaga program right from the beginning next year he could be a top 5 pick in 2010...

Damn, thats a soggy ass draft. No sure fire, franchise talent.

Also, a draft being weak isn't as important as the player a team picks.

For example, the Knicks drafted Frye and Gallo in 2 really good drafts.

2005 was a strong draft, but there were a bunch of busts as well. Frye is a better player now then the #9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, and 20th player. And it's not like McCants (14) and Hakim Warrick (19) would make us all that better. Only Bynum and Granger would have been better choices. And not counting the top 4 picks, D Lee and N Robinson are in the top 10 players in the league from that draft.

And give Galli a few years and at least a few games to say whether or not he's a good player. He's a 20 year old kid for pete's sake.

This draft is not very good. I don't mind having the 12th-15th pick. I'd rather be competitive this year, and get a mid draft pick. I like Stephen Curry the best right now, but I don't see him being all that great in the NBA. Just seeing who they have us taking:

BJ Mullins: A 7-1 260 Center? That's not something MDA would want. He'll go higher anyways.
Austin Daye: Wilson Chandler and Danillio would be ahead of him.
Jordan Hill: Eh. A weak PF. Not a bad choice.
Greg Monroe: A 7 foot 250 pd Georgetown Center. I WISH! He'll be gone earlier.

I say watch out for Patrick Mills from ST Mary's. And Chase Budinger, who is an MDA type of player.

agreed... Budinger would fit in perfectly in this system... i also like Patrick Patterson from Kentucky if we have a pick in the mid-late 1st round.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

If we get a good lottery pick, the guy I like is James Harden. He's got the numbers, the brains and the intensity. He'll be a great 2 for some nba team.

Chad Ford's top 100 draft picks are always a joke. I mean come on - this guy gets paid to come up with this stuff.

Where's Dionte Christmas? Not only is he not on his top 100 but he's not even on his top SG list that goes beyond his top 100 prospects. The guy just had 35 at home in a big win over #8 Tennessee. He's one of the best shooters in the country. Crazy..

Taj Gibson's not part of your top 100? What duh ____? Granted he's a little old for a junior but come on now, the guys not 50! Wasn't his teammate last year, OJ Mayo, also considered 'a little older' for a prospect? Yeah how's that working out so far Chad? He needs to add a few more pounds but Gibson can absolutely play PF at the next level - 16.3 ppg, 11 rpg, 3.3 blocks shooting close to 60% from the field. The guy more than held his own against Blake Griffin not too long ago, dropping a nice little double-double on him.

And no Jack McClinton in the top 100? I know he's a little small and more of a scorer than a real point, but come on. This kid can play man - guy can handle it well, fill it up from deep and get to the rim whenever he wants to. He reminds me of a thicker Jerryd Bayless. I just saw him recently against U-Conn and even though he fizzled out a little late and Miami lost (I was shocked he blew the first FT on a 1 & 1 that Miami absolutely had to have late in the 2nd half), to me, he was the best player on the floor throughout the game and was responsible for getting Miami back in the game at least twice when it looked like they were on the verge of getting blown out... If there's a spot for Jason Terry in the NBA, there's a spot for Jack McClinton.

Speaking of U-Conn, No Jeff Adrien in the top 100? There's another head-scratcher for ya. I'd even go out on a limb and put Gavin Edwards on my top 100...

These aren't even reaches, these are solid prospects - top 60 guys... Ahh, what's the use. I'll quit while I'm ahead...

My diamond in the rough mid to late 1st round pick of the draft..

Eric Maynor, PG, VCU
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=27371

I've been saying his name for 3 years now after watching him single-handidly beat Duke in the 1st round of the 2007 NCAA Tourney.

The kid has a long way to go defensively, but offensively, he almost has a Chris Paul like game. I think if this kid was at a bigger school you'd see more comparisons. He can do it all offensively though and he's a very good shooter. I think this guy would look fantastic in this offense.

Yup. Good call. He's good. Even in VCU's 3 losses, he's played great.
