I agree that this team is two minor players away from getting to the play offs.

Mobely probably would have guaranteed a run at the final spot.

Still, while I like the idea of building a winning team, I don't like the idea of taking a few steps forward (8th & done) this year, just to be stuck forever in mediocrity.

There is no guarantee we can add a franchise player in 2010, and even if we get Lebron, we don't have much of a supporting cast right now.

My hope is somehow we pull of a chicago, barely miss the play offs and score a top 3 pick and add a serious talent (i.e., not a Gallo bust pick)- someone like a Thabeet who fills a major hole.

Then, in 2009, lets win all the games they can and make the play offs.

Sorry to be strategic.

Just for ****s and giggles. Bell/Diaw aren't eligible to be traded until Feb. 10, which is 9 days before the trade deadline. I would think we have to be in the thick of things by that time for Donnie to entertain any deal for them.

I know most of you dont care about getting to the playoffs and we are playing for 2010 and a chance to get Lebron. If we can get a defensive minded guard who can shoot a little and a vet big who can play defense and guard this team could be a 6th or 7th place team. Trade Malik for an expiring vet and get a guard that can either shoot or guard. The less Quentin and Jeffires plays the better this team will be.

I think you could say this for all the teams in the league who have anywhere from 9-12 wins currently. It's nice to know we're knocking on the doorsteps but once again defense will determine this team's ultimate fate.

i think you just describe bell + diaw...

I'd say they qualify as a little more than minor players although I agree with your assessment of his post.

I think the Knicks have a tough decision. Do you stick with Lee or trade him for lesser value. If you trade him you wont make the playoffs, if you keep him you have a better chance of making the playoffs and losing him for nothing. You always here Lee name in a trade but why arent we hearing Nate name in trades? I really cant see them trading for Diaw and Bell. I was thinking Tyrus Thomas for Lee, or Kleiza for Lee would be trades that makes sense financially

My personal opinion is that Nate and Harrington are the only two players who are not available. That said, trades would need to give us significant upgrades and/or keep to the 2010 plan (unless it involves Curry or Jeffries and trade filler). A delicate balance indeed. There's still plenty of time until the trade deadline. let's just hope everyone stays healthy

because they had good games last night? i highly doubt Chandler or Duhon is available, either.

No, because Walsh brought Harrington in and Nate's a freak. They can both change a game for you and give you options. Chandler's OK, but he has a long way to go and may or may not ever get there. Duhon a good floor general but he really needs to get his shooting % up and he's not quick enough to consistently get to the basket w/o getting his shot blocked. You see how much he shies away now. Other teams have adjusted and he can't get to the basket and they play off him because he can't hit the 'j". that hasn't stopped him from trying from the top of the key though.... I like that he wants to be the guy to take the shot or the layup when the game is close, but his long range bricks and out of control turnovers around the basket have been killing us.

Really on Harrington, who Walsh traded not once but twice. Keep in mind Al is playing on his 5th team. Harrington's status is good at the beginning of the honeymoon and just down right terrible near the divorce. I used to go Hawk games and watch as fans would cringe and boo as he took ridiculous shot after shot. These were the same fans that were screaming how he had to signed to long term contract when he first arrived.

Bell I agree with as the defensive guy that can shoot. But does anyone describe Diaw as a defensive big man? I wouldn't play Diaw ahead of Tim Thomas or Chandler.

Who's available that wasn't just traded?

Based on his recent output, some might consider Quentin Richardson is a minor player. The Knicks need an upgrade at the two. Not a sidegrade.

Curry, Jeffries and Lee will be traded for Diaw, Bell, and Sean May. I can feel it. I also feel that Nate Robinson will get traded for Rashad McCants.

Is Raymond Felton out of favor enough where we can get him in the deal?

I know we are dropping Curry and Jeffries on the Bobcats but..

#1. They are after Curry
#2. This is Jordan, has he made a good trade yet?
#3. Lee is by far the best player in the deal

Lee/Curry/Jeffries Diaw/Bell/Felton

Deep Thoughts

If we (and that is a qualified "we" for the moral majority) amateurs are so dismissive of Eddy Curry, why is his name dangled as some irresistible bait to another professional franchise?

One teams dreck is not another teams treasure.

Malik for mike miller......I dunno why the t-wolves are holding him ransom. They have a **** load of youth and they are poised to get another top pick. Why hold on to Mike miller? Give him to the Knicks and take the early cap room!!!!!

Don't know if Felton is out of favor but trading him away doesn't leave CHA with much in the PG position.

But the trade does work and allows NY to sign 2 max free agent if they renounce Bell, Felton and Harrington. And they could probably sign 1 of those three back to a small contract (Bell) and still have the MLE.

That would make it OJ Mayo for Kevin Love and Malik Rose right? They're gonna get killed if they do that.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Larry Brown believes in traditional Basketball, in which the low post player is the primary scorer. Eddy Curry is one of the best low post scoring players in the league. Okafor can make up for Curry's deficiencies (i.e. rebounding and defense).

That's been a rumor floating around. Eddy Curry at his worst is 13 pts, 6 rbds, 55% shooting. Boris Diaw is a 10 pts, 5 rbds role player. They could also move Okafur to PF full time where he thrives. The problem then lies in Gerald Wallace being a slasher and with two big men like that, he might become obsolete. They are looking to move him. Felton too. They might move Felton and Wallace for outside shooting, and having two bigs, two shooters (with Morrison) and a PG. Their current lineup isn't working and I don't see Diaw and Bell being long term solutions for them.

I don't care what people think. People are stupid. - Charles Barkley
