different people, countries play under different rules. who are we to say that the Iraqis should 'write letters or vote him out'. it was a valid protest, culturally acceptable. i don't that it was shameful to them. we can't judge their practices according to our standards.

u seriously think if an American reporter threw his shoe at the Iraqi President during a press conference the Iraqi's wouldn't view that as an insult?

i didn't say that.

keep in mind that we went into their country and imposed OUR way of life. the Iraqis didn't come here and tell us how to live. as far as being 'happy about disposing saddam', who says that they were unhappy? we can't go around telling people how to govern themselves, which is shockingly obvious now that our system has brought the world to the brink of economic collapse.

Yeah, from what I understand throwing shoes at somebody is the ultimate sign of disrespect in the Iraqi/middle eastern culture. Feet are considered filthy, and shoes are an extension of that filth. Thats why they wash their feet before entering a Mosque. This was a form of protest.

Shoe throwing is the ultimate insult in Iraqi society. What can you do? I am neither for it nor against it. It is hilarious, though, and I did enjoy it a whole lot.

This isnt about a disagreement of policy or an ideological pissing match. In 2006 it was estimated that over 600,000 Iraqi's have died since coalition forces arrived in 2003. Bush lied about the justification of declaring war. Now how would YOU feel if the situation was comparable on our end and our country was being occupied, our citizens were being murdered, and our way of life was being infringed upon. And to add insult to injury, their supposed justification was all a stack of bullshyt. From weapons of mass destruction, to the harboring of Al-Qaeda.

In Syria, he was hailed as a hero. In Libya, he was given an award for courage.

we're talking about a news journalist here, not the average citizen... this guy had security clearance to be in the same room w/our President & his nation's leaders & he goes off & pulls a stunt like this... it's a disgrace pure & simple... like i said before Bush is lucky this moron wasn't able to strap a bomb to himself & sneak into that room instead, cuz i'm pretty sure he woulda done it... that's not a straight thinking individual right there.
