not having Zach's presence has really opened things up for both Harrington and Lee

that's pretty much it right there... there's no way Lee & Harrington would be putting up these numbers w/Zach still on this roster... the team flows much better w/Lee & Harrington IMO... the trade was made for the longterm results, not the shortterm & yet we got positive short term results out of it as well... brilliant proactive GMing by Walsh & this is coming from someone who can't stand Fugazy.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

"There is a win loss scenario here. Great David Lee is playing better--playing to his potential but am I the only one here who fears that Al and Lee are playing to good and pricing themselves out of being a Knick player for the future? "

Playing well is never a bad thing. It gives you trade flexibility and/or a player that can shine for you in the future. Why fret about this? I don't understand. If David Lee is that good then we can sign him at market value and be happy. Or you can trade him for something very good. Worrying daily over this is just going to shave unneeded days off of your life. It's a good thing.

We are a young team. The core of our team is 28, 26, 25, 24, 21. They are winning at a .500 pace and improving daily. Add on top of that, we are in position to be a major player in the free agent market. If this was last year and another team was in the position we are in, we'd be talking about how lucky they are and how we wish we could be like them(see Chicago of 2-3 years ago). Now all of a sudden we are walking around worried that some of our young players are playing to well

Bingo. With that reasoning, there is ALWAYS a reason to worry:
--We keep Zach and Lee continues to be a solid role player --> "With Zach here, we never got a chance to gauge Lee's true value. Now we don't really know how much to offer him as an FA."
--Without Zach --> "We'll have to overpay for Lee."
--Lee goes into a slump --> "Is there something wrong with him? We have to give him a long-term committment when there might be a serious problem?"
--Lee has an ordinary year by his standards and averages 12/10 --> "Has he peaked? Is he not motivated to improve? How can we make a committment without knowing these answers?"

great post. And if you add in gallo that makes our core even younger... We should be enjoying this right now.. two years ago, things were so gloomy it made watching the games hard..

I can't be happy about the Gallinari situation. Right now he's hurt and giving us nothing. But what if he comes back and really starts to shine for us? Then what. What if he starts putting up 20 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists a game for us. We'd be doomed!!!!

Yes cuz someday we'll have to extend him of course.
The only way we can be happy is if we get complete trash with a 5 year contract at $2MM per and turns out to be an all-star.

LOL! That would be the absolute worst case scenario. It would be so much better and more peaceful if he could just be a bust!

yea, we would have to trade him pronto, before he became a star and asked for more money... LOL..

Is the goal to just be decent? I don't fantasize about winning 40 games. I fantasize about entering the upper eschelon once again.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Here's something even better to fantasize about:

Fantasize about this being on a parade float running up through the Canyon of Heroes.

Exactly. I just don't want to phrase it like that anymore, because then the anti-"Championship or bust" crowd comes out of hiding and claims that people who think long term have their sights set so high that any season without a championship would be considered a failure. Right now, I'd be happy with a few years of getting to the ECF. But, yes, the chip is the ultimate goal, and I want at least three of them in the next 10 years.

Solace is back! Where ya been?

I've been posting here and there. I basically stopped watching Knicks games at some point last season and was utterly fed up with the team. So far, I'm excited about the new direction of the team and have slowly started to reintegrate my interest. So I post now and again... but it's unlikely I will get to 10,000 before TMS hits 30,000. You can thank Isiah for why I stopped being a die-hard.

and just got Harrington--we might be one heckuva out to deal with

C-Lee
F Randolph
F Harrington
G Chandler
G Duhon
F Jefferies
G Nate
G Q

I thought something similar Briggs, but when you imagine Randolph and Harrington playing at the same time. I don't think that could have worked.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Briggs - why does the redundancy, in limited assists and greedy shot selection, that applied to Curry and Randolph not apply to Randolph and Harrington?

You takes steps to reach that goal. So far we've made only a few, but are on track to reach it, not like the last years.

Harrington is playing his arse off. If he could do this his career he would have been maxed by now.

the MDA system gives him lots and lots of shots. And players we have yet to draft will get lots and lots of shots. Gallo when healthy and mature, 6-11 with a handle will get lots and lots of shots.

MDA is an alchamist type coach and if he can hover near .500 with this group, he will shine even more going forward.

Lee is playing great, and you don't sand bag him. ALso realize other teams have systems and understand Lee won't get the kind of looks and rebounds. Those long 3's we bomb produce long offensive rebounds and pad that stat. IM not taking anything away from the kid, in fact he is terrific.

He is a very good compliment to Fat Eddy. Inflate Eddy (no pun intended) and we just might be able to trade him.

ZDump is talented and he was great here under the circumstances. We lowered the bar for him and got a dump. Misson acomplished.

If DLee is too expensive to extend then I have every confidence that Walsh will get the right pieces for the team. If its draft picks, then so be it.

I do not hate on Zach. I thought he was playing well this season and was sharing the ball more. The thing I liked most about him was that, even though he could not jump, the dude would fight for rebounds on both ends. I think this team could have won with Randolph and I think we could have gotten more for him, but I understand the move and the need to create cap space. I am happy with the team now. I just hope Walsh can turn Curry into a late 1st round pick.
