You and your shotblockers. McCain had Joe the Plumber, you have Joe the Shotblocker.

I think TMS wants a shotblocker more then he wants Alba

I personally think Chandler causes more mismatches for the slow lumbering PF's of the world than he does the undersized shooting guards but I do think he can be a weapon at the 2. That's the best part of D'Antoni's system is that you play the matchups and do not worry about what postion a guy is supposed to play. That's how they used to do it old school. You had to learn to be versatile because you may be playing PF on D and the 2 spot on O. The 3 spot in the 3rd quarter and pack to the 4 in the 4th. I think that's the type of team they built with the good Detroit teams recently, and I think that's what D'Antoni likes in his players.
I just hope that people will like me

Would you prefer The Mayor or Tyrus Thomas?

Bippity - your brilliant analysis is only superceded by your supersized brain. Positions? The Knicks don't need no steenkin' positions! The D'Antoni system makes basketball a thrill ride for players and fans alike.

The Mayor will play point forward in the time-honored tradition of Anthony Mason. But with three point range. How cool is that?

Chandler is a SF and that's where he should play. In 2010 and beyond he'll make a nice bench player.

I think he can definitely start in this league.

Yeah Chandler is definitely a starter right now, and should continue to get better.

His jumpshot is much improved and will get better. He has tremendous athletic size for the position and can either shoot post or get to the hole off the dribble. At 6-8 he would make a hard match up for any two guard on the other side of the court as well.

If anything having Wilson play the 2-guard makes us a bigger team and might help compensate for our height & rebounding issues at other spots.

In the long term - forcing Wilson to handle the ball a bit more, getting him into the post against smaller players and giving him outside shot opportunites could all help his development long term.

I'm a bit dissapointed in Wilson's rebounding and defense this year.

I like Chandler, I really do. I think he can be a very nice piece to the puzzle. But his ceiling isn't very high. He doesn't have a consistent mid range game, he's not a great finisher and he's not a very good defender. He's likely to improve some and will put up decent numbers in D'Antoni's system but on a good team he'll likely come off the bench.

LivingLegend - dissapointed, compared to what?

Did you consider that perhaps his rebounding and defense is negatively affected by his problemmatic knee?

I salute him for playing through pain.

The Mayor has played in a grand total of 55 NBA games. Total. For all practical purposes, this is an extension of his rookie season.

Chandler looks to be a step slow as of late. He tries to get a step on his man and then he moves the ball, what's wrong with that? Would you rather see him force shots or dish to the open man? You don't see him making any excuses and you don't see him taking bad shots. Give the kid a chance to get healthy before you diss him.

I disagree. I think Chandler ceiling is quite high. As I stated he is shooting better than most SGs around the league. Now what does that say about the state of the league. He is being asked to play 3 positions by a coach that really has no set offense and he is able to succeed. How do you judge someone's ceiling. That's like someone saying that Kevin Durant's ceiling is Jamal Crawford because they both are streaky shooters that take bad shots. Right now, I know Thorn would love to swap Yi for Chandler without a second thought.
I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni

He is a small forward not a shooting guard or a power forward.

Honestly I think Chandler is slow. He is not the smartest player. My perception of him has drastically changed since the season started. He is by no means a SG. He is a SF. He reminds me of Hakeem Warrick but with better range on his jumpshot.

He made a dumb play last night. Honestly it looks like the Knicks don't have so-called set positions--kind of interchangeable.
