I still want to know what is going to stop Al and Lee from getting monster FA offers this offseason?
No, you don't want to know. If you did genuinely want to know, you would have paid close attention to Fish's prior posts. You really just want to whine and cry.

The point that no teams have cap space is wrong--that is why--also there are 13 teams who are one maneuver from cap space. Fishmike believes no one will have cap space no one intends to look for cap space and if they have it no one will be interested in lee or harrington--well I have to say his idea's might be wrong.

If so many people will want Lee, why can't we just match whatever deal he gets and then trade him for an expiring plus picks/players prior to the trading deadline?

We could match Lee, or if he got a big offer, sign and trade him. Or we can let him walk. Or he might decide to test the waters as an unrestricted FA in 2010 where more people plan to spend money. Its nothing to be worried about right now.

I think we could sign him to a 6 year deal worth 60 mil and stating at 7.5 in 2010.

And Ive mentioned it many times, but David Lee is a great player and I hope the knicks do everything they can to keep a leader, a hustler player, a good person, and one of the best rebounders and points in the flow of the offense players.

The Knicks are in the driver's seat in almost every situation except for Curry and Jeffries, which we may find a solution to once Curry gets on the court.

What if Al Harrington opts out to become an unrestricted free agent? If he plays anywhere like this all year--what would you do?

Were in the driver seat with Lee but are we willing to pay 10mm+$$ for him?

I doubt any team is gonna free up cap space just to get Lee but why don't you wait until your cap-freeing imagined trades do happen before posting these panic threads? You strike me as someone who puts the top back on the convertible when it's sunny at noon because you overheard that there was a 10% chance of showers at midnight.

You strike me as the type who may have taken a few wedgies in his life but that is beyond the point. If you really believe that there is only a 10% chance that Lee and Harrington get serious free agent offers--I'm glad you are not working at the Pentagon.

No, there is about a 10% (probably much less) chance that both Harrington and Lee destroy our team's future for any reasons you're panicing over. I'm not even gonna explain it again because Fish already has and you'll ignore me like you ignore him anyway.

Well, we are going to see what's deep inside of Al cause he came out and said this team is like a dream for him. Well, add to that Dream Lebron and Bosh, it just gets better.
Al is going to get offers and we don't really know what we are going to do, at least with Curry taking up cap space. Once Curry is moved we might be able to afford both Lee and Al but at below market levels. We are going to need a bit of luck and maneuvering.

I trust that D'Antoni really wants to win and he will tell management what our best route is (regarding players to sign).

Perhaps we can offer both Lee and Al below market contracts expiring in 2011, with "the understanding" that in 2011 we offer them considerably more going over the cap to retain our own free agents. That might really be our best chance. One thing we are not is cheap, not to mention other "incentives" that can make players stick around.

On a related note, don't forget Gallo. He might be able to replace Al eventually. (The pain continues (no pun)).

I want to see the memo that Bosh and James are both coming in 2010. There is a better chance of getting one of these guys. You put James on the Knicks right now they are a top 3 team in the East. Everyone else in the league are saying wait until 2010. I dont see these small southern guys like Bosh or Johnson wanting to live in the Big Apple. Everyone is acting like 8 or nine max free agents are going to move in 2010. When was the last time more than 2 max free agents left in a summer?

I want to see you name even one person here who said there is a memo or some sort of gaurantee that Bosh and James are coming here in 2010.

So you'd be devastated if we added Joe Johnson and Amare or Bosh? Or added Joe Johnson, developed our young core and then signed Dwight Howard? There's too many appealing options to focus on any one or two players.

Our young core, which isn't THAT young, will be nothing but young by the time Dwight Howard is a free agent. I don't think he turns into one until 2012.
