What do you guys think about Juan Manuel Lopez, who starred one of the fights tonight and knocked out argentinean Sergio "Rocky" Medina in only 1:38 minutes in round 1 tonight. His last 3 wins have come in the first round and he sure seems like future boxing star. He is puertorrican, and for those who don't know, Puerto Rico has given many great fighters.

So, what do you think?

Lopez looked good but it's hard to say because the Argentinian didn't show up to fight. The guy basically turtled.

The kid who fought the first fight on the undercard, he's from Crown Heights Brooklyn, looked really good. Really fast.

Did anyone catch the punch rate numbers from both fighters?

Not good for Oscar even if he would have lasted til the end.

333 Thrown 195 Landed 4 Pacman

161 Thrown 59 Landed 4 Oscar

Pac brought.....Domination and Devestation!

Round 8

Great heart by Oscar but he didn't catch Manny with anything substantial. Manny is so much faster and killing him.

They just called the fight. Oscar's corner threw in the towel to protect Oscar.

Manny wins 8 rd TKO.

holy crap, great call on the fight... i believe u called an 8th round TKO... good work Bert Sugar!

Yeah, now I really regret not being in Vegas for the fight.

I saw the fight. Total domination start to finish. Manny looked brilliant, and I liked some of the tips Freddy Roach was giving him. They came prepared.

Pac didn't just dominate with speed, he was also the more powerful fighter. Oscar couldn't see the punches coming, his face was mess, and the body blows were devastating.

Pac's defense was impenetrable too. His foot work was great, his head was bobbing and swaying, shoulders constantly turning. Oscar couldn't get a single clean punch in. Manny was barely tagged.

Now they're talking about Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement to face Manny. I don't know firefly, I think I'd rather see Manny try to hand Floyd his first loss.

I could see the appeal if you're a Manny fan... I don't know. I've never been real entertained with a Mayweather fight. I hate that dude's style, although I respect it. I know it's boxing, but I want to see a fight. But if Manny split Floyd's head open, it'd be worth it, but I can't see that being anything other than a scorecard affair.

I'm so glad to hear that DeLaHoya got his ass handed to him. I'm so tired of that guy. After he beat up Mayorga that was really the end of me caring about DLH. The Mayweather fight was an absolute joke - typical fake fight BS that boxing has become - then when DLH fought that scrub and looked like crap in his "tune up for mayweather II" I was totally done with the guy.

I admire him for what he's done on the business side, helping young fighters along the way, but he has to STOP fighting! Before this fight I think he said he's got plenty of fights left in him.

Against who, Oscar? Trash? 'Cause that's all you can beat!

I wish I could have seen this but my neighbor gave up on boxing over the summer and canceled his HBO/Showtime and said he'd NEVER pay for another fight let alone carry those two channels just for boxing's sake.

Ah well, thanks for the updates, Isles.

WooHoo!!! Missed the fight last night. Too cheap to pay. My uncles still living in the Philippines tells me that this might be Manny's last fight. He is treated like a god there. Making movies and maybe go into politics.

Say what you want about Oscar, but he's one of the few fighters that didn't duck anyone. He pretty much matched up against every major fighter of his era in his weight class. That said he pretty much lost all of his major fights in this decade.

Pacquiao has been tremendous these past few years.

De La Hoya's been a warrior & a great champ... he should retire now before he embarasses himself.

That would be a shame. The guy is at the peak of his career boxing wise and earnings wise. He can make more money in his next fight than he could doing 10 movies (although I have to admit, poltics could be pretty profitable in the corrupt Phillippine government system).

I can't see him walking away when he's not just the best pound for pound fighter but the best fighter period right now. I want at least 2 more fights. Give Mayweather his first loss and then fight Hatton.

I (of course) watched the Mayweather-Hatton fight and I have to say, Mayweather is one of the most underrated fighters in the game. Its hard to say that because hes seen as the best, but whenever I hear people talk about him its "yeah he won, but I hate his style" etc. etc. Floyd Mayweather is a boxing genius.

I respect Manny and the fights he's won, but I would bet on Mayweather beating anyone in the world. Except maybe Joe. But thats because Joe also has a tremendous boxing brain and some would say he did it the hard way because he attacks constantly instead of conteracting his opponent like Mayweather does.

Also, Hatton-Manny, I would bet on Manny. Not because of talent because that argueably would be a wash, but Hatton is a bleeder. Badly. And we all know Manny will hit him. Guaranteed TKO/too much blood etc.

Calzaghe-Mayweather. Wow, now thats a fight I would fly to Vegas for. Im talking that has the potential to be the fight of the century.
