there is something to this... going out and buying another team's stars. When Houston, LJ, Childs, et all were brought in who's team was it? It was still Ewing's team.

Nothing was more satisfying than watching the Giants win with Eli, Jacobs, Strahan, Osi, that o-line... our guys. Same with Jeter, Pettitte, Mo, Bernie... our guys. Sure there were FAs but those were home grown team with talent added.

The other way to look at it is we would be added guys that wanted to be here, etc so who knows. Maybe if Nate, Lee, Chanders, Gallo, etc are still around it will have some of that feel... who knows.

I have no problem with this approach however because it gives us the most options. We cant just buy Lebron.. we need good players here and thats going to happen through trades and drafts and thats fine. Do Laker fans feel like Shaq was bought? or those titles were cheap? Do the Celtics? I dont know... I do know a Yankee title won by Texeria, ARod, Sabathia and Burnett will NOT have the feel of those other teams I mentioned.

I would just say this is the very early stages of a 2 year house cleaning... I am luke warm myself, but I think this approach gives us the most options.

Of course, there are some Isiah and Steph fans who continue to bash the new regime for no reason. To those, I think they need a self-evaluation. Whether you think this is the right path or not, you have to admit that it's a different approach and a different approach is certainly called for.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

fishmike - what you said.

... which is precisely why the "Who will Be The Heart and Soul" Knicks queston is much more essential than who will be the juicy available free agents to take on a guided tour of the locker room?

Best part about ever winning a title is going through the rough times as a fan. If you're going to give up now and have already been through Isiah than I don't know what to tell you. I would never give up on my team. Apathy had set in last season but I never questioned if I should root for the team any longer and never will.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

doesnt apathy mean you dont root for the team?

For me, I dont follow BB if I am not interested in the Knicks. I dont follow football when the Giants are terrible. I didnt watch the playoffs when the Yankees were out. The only time I watch TV is at the gym or a pub, so if other games are one I will watch. Aside from that its my team(s) or nada. Last few years I just have not cared about the Knicks.. Isiah killed it for me. What I am hoping for is a team or player that can get me excited again. Chandler, Nate, Lee and Duhon are a likable group, and I have watched.. but its still luke warm. OJ Mayo would have had me juiced and buying tickets. Hopefully we get a bigtime player in this draft, or a solid group of guys to keep building with

Fish, good point. Starphuching is tarnished. Celts won, and its cool but they did with imports. But those three sure help Rondo look good!!!!

Mister, good post. I never saw Johnny Green but didn't he play when he was like 39 or 40? That was back in the day anchient when a scope would shut you down for months!

John Ginonelli!!!!! That was a tough era! Him and Toby Knight upfront with Jim McMillon at the three with Crack head Ray Williams was just too much to take.

I hated Ray Williams! He had a world of talent but a true bone head.

The key for the Knicks is to build a core so that if the "magical free agent" doesn't sign with us, we are still in a good position. I think this is what the management team is doing. They are putting themsevles in position for a top tier free agent while also giving extended minutes to the young guys(which is what everyone seemed to want when Isiah was here) and creating flexibility for future moves. Regardless we will need other players on the team in 2010 even if we do sign Lebron. If the young guys continue to improve they will very much be a part of it.

When the Yankees was horrible in the 80s with the likes of Jesse Barfield, Mel Hall, Steve Baboni was there, I still watch them and rooted for them to win. I didn't cower like Boston Fans and all of a sudden started showing my face when they won a World Series. As a fan you have to take the good and the bad. You can be a true fan until you can see this.

Personally I could care less who's a true fan and who's not. Why does it matter. If you want to leave, leave. We'll see you when we are good again. No biggie. No need to make a thread about it.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

sorry to get off topic, but did u feel the same way about the Yankee titles won by Reggie, Catfish, Goose, Willie, Nettles & Chambliss? it's hard enough to win a championship no matter how u build a franchise so i think every championship should be relished just as much as any other... sure it's nice to see home drafted talent get rings on their finger like Jeter, Bernie, Eli, Osi, Jacobs, etc., but w/o a lot of key FA's & trade acquisitions like McKenzie, O'Hara, Burress, Pierce, Robbins, etc. the Giants don't win the SB last year just like the Yankees don't win all those championships in the 90's w/o guys like Rocket, Wells, Key, Justice, Curtis, Lloyd, Cone, Brosius, Davis, Fielder, Boggs, etc.

During Isiah's tenure by December I was at the point where I would check in in the second half and possibly watch the final minutes of the fourth quarter. I am not at that point and I think the players are trying and they are being coached.
