^ yeah man, completely agreed. The ball was flowing in the Detroit game and I have seen stretches of team defense (in multiple games), defense that somehow magically showed up cause we all know that MDA doesn't stress it in practice.

The movement on defense in the first half yesterday and in spurts in the 2nd half was the best that I've seen from the Knicks in about 7 years.

Movement is key, and I think TT and Harrington are heads and shoulders better at it than ZBo and Crawford, and this in turn has made the rest of them and the whole team better defenders.

I like the thought behind this thread...but how can Malik be on this list of seven? Please take that guy off this list and put nate in there-- he's missed the last few games, but he's been just as valuable as anyone else.

If Jeffries can continue to make strong hustle plays, and Gallinari is healthy before the spring...this could at least be a fun team to watch in a possible playoff situation ('99 knicks anyone?!)

This team is horrible until proven otherwise. Gave up on the season 11 games in--pretty much never been done in sports when you were seconds from being 7-3. We didnt use Marbury from game 1 when he showed he can be very cooperative and productive in pre-season. I think you only tank if you sck after 25-30 games and mathematically not a reality. Were not going to tank--we'll just be horrible. We couldve tried to try hard to win this season--why not---the alternative is watching terrible basketball for 70 games+++ and then the same idiots who have screwed up the draft will do it a again. Now we have to watch one of the most over-rated players in basketball Al Harrington shoot 9-25 along with his 3-13 partner Q Rich. I think we panic traded Randolph and Crawford when there was no pressing need to do so at this time.

this team is playing hard, im enjoying watching them.. the defense has improved since the trades and once we get Nate back we might have something here.

I think Mobley would really really help this team I hope he is healthy enough to do so

JammyJetFan - your wish is my command

Duhon - pace yourself, we need you desperately
QRich - don't be afraid to post up a guard every now and then
Al Harrington - take the shot, but keep your head up
Lee - like I was sayin', thank you for the double-double
The Mayor - thank you for a glimpse of Change We Can Believe In
Jeffries - please, no more jump shots - just rebound the ball baby
Tim Thomas - enjoy yourself, smile, and please get back on defense

On Deck
Nate - keep the fire burning, you belong here and we miss you

Is it a coincidence that those guys started out the year outside of D'Antoni's tutelage?

TT has already been in MDA's system and Harrington has always been a willing defender, unlike Crawford and ZBo.

"Mike D'Antoni's seven Knicks beat energy crisis"

Gee, yet another (cough) "original" snappy headline.

"This was another in a growing series of games the Knicks try to win with their not-quite magnificent seven. They'd lost the last three, five of six, eight of 10, and Sunday afternoon they'd be coming up light against a Detroit team that made fruitcake out of them 12 days ago."

I would offer that the seven may not be magnificent, but it is fun to watch them hang tough and grow as a team. They have been determined, and apart from the initial shock of the trade, they have been more than respectable.

"The Knicks, they're full of surprises. Just when you knew they were about to have this game slip through their fingers, and it was time to speak out and let them know how disgusted you were with the way they continually come apart ..."

Continually come apart?

Huh?

Which seven dudes is Vic Ziegel watching?

Sheesh. Enough with the bitter "I hate the Knicks" routine.

For me, right now this is a team of players that I actually like. I thought Zbo was a good player, but I didn't like him. I think Marbury is talented, but I can't stand his stupidity. I liked Crawford, but my thoughts of him turning the corner were more hopeful than realistic. This team, I like Wil Chandler and seeing him develop. I like Nate's energy. I like David Lee's energy and work ethic... his uniform should come with a blue collar and a lunchpail...he is a working man. I always liked Al Harrington, but like Crawford, I thought he'd make more of himself. But I am not a huge QRich fan...he needs to shut up and play, but all in all, this is a team that I like cheering for.
You know I gonna spin wit it

he grew up in Jersey as a Knicks fan & he's wanted to come here for a while... dude's just excited to be back home & representing for the team he grew up rooting for... i love seeing guys like him, Nate & Jamal being proud of the team they're playing for when they make big shots by pimpin' out their team logo.

bippity - Al, born in Orange NJ, is simply overjoyed to be playing closer to Elizabeth NJ. Harrington has probably been primed to return to the New York area more than "he who has no uni" was in 2004.

The beauty of Harrington in D'Antoni's sytem is that he will not be bound by a fixed position. As a 6'9 hybrid, he can hoist three's over smaller guards, drive past slow-footed forwards, and post up smaller forwards.

If Al develops an appetite for what it feels like to thrive in the clutch, it will be difficult for Walsh to deny him a spot in 2010.

I am with MisterEarl on his original posts. I am unable to watch the games but from what I read on the forums and through news articles they seeem to be giving their hundred percent. To me that's all you can ask for from anyone. It may not be great, may not even be good, but when the players give you their 100% everytime they are on the floor you are getting what you paid for. Anything beyond is a result of decisions outside of their control.

If you get the effort consistently from your players it also indictes a pretty good coaching job.

I'm from Edison and used to watch Harrington and Dalembert a lot during their last year's in highschool. I was never a Harrington fan. He seemed to coast through a lot of games(probably he was bored at times) and play hard when he chose to. I've always remembered that. I basically forgot about the guy until those once or two times a year he would come here and tear us apart. Now he's a Knick and I like his effort. I like his pride. He may or may not be a part of our future but he's not letting that stop him. He clearly wants to be here.

Our 7 Versus Franchise Rebuild Model Number 2

"Chicago may be better served giving some of its players a permanent vacation as well. The once-promising Bulls are now the poster children for why building through the draft is more of a marketing slogan than a foolproof plan. Two of the Bulls' recent lottery picks - Luol Deng and Gordon - are borderline starters at best, and two others - Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas - are borderline rotation players. Thomas was even benched Tuesday."

- Isola

"We should rebuild with draft picks, just like the Bulls" - unknown

The Bulls ONLY rebuilded through the draft and were never the greatest of drafters. And when they did draft franchise players, they traded them for players like Jalen Rose and Antonio Davis and Brad Miller. The Bulls hardly ever helped themselves through this process.
