I think we could upgrade at every position. There was no need to draft based on need for a team that wasn't going anywhere. Good pick, or bad pick it signified for me that the team was no longer going to try to build around the needs of a flawed core. They were going to take who they thought was the best available, not the player they thought could help us eke out a few more wins this year.
I just hope that people will like me

I don't remember a lot of people liking Augustine at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but I seem to remember his feedback being mostly negative on this board because of his size.

The Danilo situation is worrisome and disappointing. But the kid does have talent and I'm sure this is why the Knicks picked him. I'm sure they did not pick him to have him sit injured all year.

I liked him, I just did not like him at 6. At 6, I would have taken Bayless or either moved back 2-3 spots and taken a chance on Augustin or Lopez. I, however, do think DG has talent, but if the plan is to get Lebron, then don't they play the same position. I don't see DG as a PF even though it looks like that is where he is ultimately going to play on this team, with Chandler and maybe LeBron coming aboard. It seems like Walsh is filling the team with a bunch of SFs trying to play the role of PF ad C. If the goal is to get Lebron, then a pg or a center would have been a better pick.

I seem to remember a lot of people having the same opinion as you. There were many Bayless fans, hardly any Augustine fans at the 6 pick.

I'm not worried with having Danilo playing the same position as Danilo. Although we are getting in position to try to acquire him, we can't base our draft picks on him being here. My guess is they felt he was a player that could contribute and be a good player for the team regardless of position. Also, D'Antoni seems to like versatile guys that can play multiple positions in the frontcourt. I think this is their current vision for Danilo. Whether it's reality or not, I think they picture him as a PF/SF as his body develops. Lastly, let's say he turns out to be good, and ends up playing the same position as Lebron, why is that a concern? We either have a great starter and a great back up, or we have great trade bait. We are rebuilding so we can't worry too much about this. We just need talent at this point.

we know for a fact that Donnie was working on a deal to get OJ Mayo here... i'm pretty sure no one had a problem w/that... it didn't work out, so he took who he thought was BPA... stuff happens... until we see Gallo play in some games, no one knows if the pick was a good one or not... Jerryd Bayless ain't doing jack squat in the NBA either btw.
