ur exactly right about Fishlips' trade kicker... he's most likely untradeable at this point... that's why we need to seriously pursue a trade of Curry & D Lee now while we still can get some assets back in return for them... we shouldn't just let D Lee walk for nothing at the end of this season... we can re-sign Nate at an $8 mil per contract but if we want any real shot at attracting 2 big names here in 2010 we gotta move Curry & D Lee now.

Maybe we can fool Riley into taking Curry for Mark Blount but I don't think he's that dumb. Maybe Memphis' GM is stupid enough to trade Antoine Walker for Curry?
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Why would he always include draft picks in trades? Look at our 2010 pick. Where is it? In Utah. Thanks, Isiah!

Isiah's the only one who goes into contract negotiations and says, "well the guy is asking for $4 million, let's give him $7 plus a trade kicker". I believe he had the same strategy with trades. "Eh, let's throw in a #1. We don't want them to think we're meanies".
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The Cap in 2010 is projected at $64.8M.
Ideally, Donnie Walsh will find enough money for both and still have plenty left over to make a run at James, Steve Nash, Chris Bosh, etc. He knows he has a delicate line to walk between putting together a quality team that will attract high-end free agents and also having enough money to spend on them.

With that in mind, Walsh can't overlook the fact that Lee and Robinson have serious trade value as affordable role players who bring tireless energy off the bench. Playoff-bound teams covet that, and some GMs might demand one of them in a package deal along with, say, Eddy Curry, who is the last expensive long-term contract ($11.3 million) that goes beyond 2010.

Jared Jeffries has a player option for $6.9 million and the Knicks have team options on Danilo Gallinari ($3.3 million) and Wilson Chandler ($2.1 million) in 2010-11. The projected salary cap for that season is $64.8 million.
