No but he can be made into a 20 pt a game scorer so they can trade his ass...

He did it before--he can do it again. How many points would Eddy Curry have if he played 38 minutes last night when hes at his best--my guess is 26 points 7 rebounds if David Lee had 22. Remember this guy played and was in shape not long ago for 40 minutes on several different occasions. It's not like he is 32. He's not even 26.

It was so easy to get inside last night that Curry could've had 40 (assuming he was in shape).

Defense involves effort and Eddy is deathly alergic to effort (and defense, and jumping, and exercise, etc)

Eddy can't seem to prevent various edible things from flying in his mouth apparently, so I don't have much hope for him preventing the ball from going in the basket.

Nice guy, sure, but he doesn't seem to care.

I think its best to take a fragile persona and acentuate the positive then the negative.

Resurection of Eddie would be for him to just get back to where he was under larry.

IMHO the key to Eddy is to get him the ball while he is already moving. Onces he plants in the post he just backs up into his man and gets a quick offensive foul. If he is moving and gets the ball he is unstoppable.

If eddy is feeling good about himself MAYBE he can D up a bit more and at least be tradeable.

Isiah read this kid really badly. I like Eddy, but he is just not cut to be an NBA player.

Title says it all, can Curry be re-made into a defensive center? He has the size, can he be given a specific role and molded to fit the Knicks current needs?

Eddy Curry doesn't know how to play basketball. He could still get major points in the paint......but only in the perfect situation for him.

Last night it wasn't a given Eddy woulda got big points. If Eddy was in good spirits maybe but as we've sen in the past......the rest of the team becomes stagnant when eddy is forcing a floater to the right all night.

Aren't you guys excited about the ystem the Knicks are running? Why do some of you want to go back to posting up Eddy?

I think he could score pretty easily here without having to post him up. There's a lot of motion in this O and as a finisher close to the basket, they don't get a lot better than Eddy. Lee was getting the ball 2-3 feet away from the basket last night. It was easy to sneak in there.

As someone else ponted out, he's only 26. Sometimes kids have to learn things the hard way. Larry broke his balls and he responded, then Larry was fired. He showed up out of shape for Isiah and was punished by becoming the featured player....and then Isiah was fired. He showed up ot of shape again this year and hit a brick wall. It's the kind of thing that makes a kid go 'man, I don't want to do that again'. MDA has a way of making players accountable instead of the 'star' treatment. I'd look to see better things from Curry in the future.

There was a rumor out there a few months back that he did four jumping jacks. Now if that don't put him in a starting position, then I don't know what will!

Defense I feel has to be taught at an early age. It's not something you just acquire. Curry would have to get better at timing, foot speed, and strength. Some players will never be good defenders no matter how hard they work at it. Either their physical state or lack of technique won't allow it.

Curry can play good one on one defense, as far as help defense he is one of the worse I have seen.

He's a Jerome clone. Together, they don't even make one decent player.

James can play both ends of the court. Curry is strictly offense. They are both similar because they both have poor conditioning.

It's all about motor. Either you just care about playing defense or, like you said, you're taught to. My coaches always pulled players if they were slack assed on defense, regardless of offensive ability... except in traveling, where the coach's kids played all the time, even though they had no offensive ability or defensive ability. And they coached the Isiah thomas style of ball.... I mean, I was in the eighth grade and they were having us play the triangle offense. Anyway, that was an all-time awesome back court, let me tell you.

Curry can be a good defensive player right now. He wont though b/c of a few things. He said he thinks he's in shape when he's NOT. Obviously the first step in getting into shape is admitting that you need to do it. Secondly, it's mental. Thirdly, we need shotblocking just as much, and that's something Curry probably can't be. That's more instinctual. Wilson Chandler and Patrick Ewing Jr have MUCH stronger shotblocking instincts than Curry.

Curry is done in my eyes...He has no respect for himself as a professional player and the game..He had every reason to show up in shape this year...After last year's disappointing performance and a new coach that run an uptempo offense, the man could have used the offseason to lose some weight and get prepared for the season..He didn't..What's sad in all this is that we all know he has the talent...We know he can be dominant...We saw it in stretches two years ago...Imagine this guy was almost an Allstar...The hunger for basketball just isn't there...It's really sad to be honest..

exactly. I know for me I was taught defense at an early age. The grown men use to pull me aside and teach me how to play defense and I use to play against the grown ups not kids my age to work on defense and offense. At this point in Curry's life who is going to teach him when he lacks motivation, timing, foot speed? He would have to workout for hours on his defense and find real competition to play against. Plus NBA schedules are tough. What coach is going to spend time working on Curry's flaws when practice is not long and there are other things to get your team prepare for. Not to mention there is a game every other night. It is easy to work on offense because you don't need another person with you to practice.

...............................................

What you said about the coaches son is so true I had to laugh. I remember back in the days when my coach told the team that he was going to start his son over our point guard who had game. We were all like," WTF his son can't even make a layup." The coaches son lasted about two games starting. lol
